- The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 was probably the one device I was most excited for this year just because of how in love I was with last year's model - the Z Flip3. As much as I liked last year's model - it has some serious drawbacks. With the exact same price tag, although the changes for this year's model aren’t as massive as I was expecting - there IS one upgrade that leads to a much better, overall experience. This is my review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4!

Man I love it this review I just switched from the 13 pro max was tired of such a big display and mainly tired of being in that APPLE ecosystem got my flip 4 loving it and that crease it is what is it glad my phone can fit in my pockets
personally love them both! i think my favorite would have to be the z flip though! i find the flip so much more efficient? if that make any sense. but i still love the fold, they both have there own little perks and features that make me LOVE them both!
I'm folding 😆 just not going to upgrade from the fold 2 until they have a better camera and built in s pen support
I bought the Z Flip 4 at last! I was a long time iPhone user but this year I decided to separate my way from Apple, mostly because of the killing of iPhone mini and the unjust price bump on iPhone 14 lineup. Foldables are the future and sadly, for Apple innovation is the dynamic island… and the Always On display!
So can’t own a 13 mini for a few years? You have to change phone every year?
@@karlG3375 no. I had the 12 mini and it's battery, that was always bad, now is at 89% health. And, no, I will not spend another 700€ for the last years 13 mini. I chose to spend 999€ for a much better phone with the latest specs and a better form factor.

@@ArthropodSpidey - Dude, you're so salty, I thought I was in the ocean. At least when we buy an Android, we're not buying a model that looks the same as the one from 5 years ago. Apple is way too slow to adapt to newer technology, so it's still stuck in its brick form-factor. I never had an issue with security in the decade that I've been with Android. Hardware service and updates are perfectly fine too, especially when you consider that Android allows you to stay with a version for much longer than Apple.
I have an old 2016 Android phone that I use in conjunction with a 2019 S10e that I got last year. Both allow me to run current apps. You don't get that same flexibility with Apple who loves to slow down its software, lock out its users, and monopolizes the option to repair. With Android, I'm not a slave to one ecosystem, I can customize to my heart's content, I have expandable storage on both my phones, one usb-c cable charger for all my tech gear, plus I get features like Always On Display, reverse wireless charging, fingerprint scanners, headphone jacks, split-screen multitasking, and so on.
Android was also the first to beat Apple to the market with other innovations like Qi, fast charging, NFC, 4G LTE, 5G, OLED displays, face-recog, in-screen fingerprint sensors, water resistance, multi-lens cameras, true multitasking, copy + paste, multiwindow support. Apple is way behind. If you wanna stick to your fruity brand, do you. The rest of us are happy enjoying our little green robot.

Just got my flip4 1 day ago. Wanted to get it last year but finally got it. Totally love it! It's so pretty! As for battery 1 day of normal use while WFH by the end of the day I still have 50% left. The crease doesn't bother me at all you barely even see it when use. Would be interesting to experience how it's like used when im outside.
Edit: From 6:30am fully charged till 7:30pm left with 25% battery. In between using spotify, youtube, check notifications here and there, used it for 1hr meeting. I think it held up pretty good for a full day use. Finally can put my phone in my back pocket without half of the phone sticking out.

Thank you for this! I'll upgrade this afternoon ♥️ I'm a medium user and while I have chargers everywhere I go and with me, the flip 3's battery can be a bit of a pain. I'm super happy this got improved! I'm also obsessed with my flip 3, don't think I am ever going to get back at regular phones, foldables are so comfortable to carry... Plus you don't lose screen quality and speed. I'm loving it!
The main 2 things that kept me from getting one is the battery life and the durability of the hinge\screen. So far on what I've been hearing is that they've fixed the battery issue;so now if they've done better on the screen\hinge then I'll think of getting one. Still paying off my S22+ so it'll give me time to deside by then. Would love to see more future videos in it's durability.

This phone is trash 3 months and the screen hinge problem now lcd screen not working
@@rachellight1186 haven't had any problems and still looks perfect no cracks or anything. It's not as fragile as you may think. I don't swing it open with one hand so that may be helping. Because it does close I know the screen isn't getting scratched or won't shatter like regular glass if dropped. So I think it's better then glass. It really is a great phone though. I highly recommend.

Im loving it. I got mine for 100 bucks with my zflip 3 trade in. First time buying in is expensive but after that trade in and upgrade is definitely worth it

I pre-ordered the Fllip 4 in Blue and still waiting for it to ship 😄 i heard some very good news about its battery life and can't wait to test it for myself.
I will be reviewing this soon. Keep in mind that the flip 4 is more durable. If you have a 1 year old flip and they are giving a good trade in, you might want to take it. The Durability improvements are not too noticeable right away but it may impact you in the long run. And the bigger battery is a big key

I'm a Flip 3 owner and yes the battery life on this thing is mad awful. I had to bring around a power bank and charge it three times. I can't wait to upgrade. I wanna see how the battery life holds up and I like the new blue. It gives me the S22 Ultra/iPhone 13 Pro blue vibes.
I traded in my flip 3 for S22+ mainly due to the awful battery life. It was almost unusable as far as my use case is concerned. I had to charge the damn thing like 4 to 5 times daily.
That blue color is mad clean
My Flip3 gets through a day fine, the Flip4 is alot more refined.
Same issue. I unplug it at about 9am and it starts begging for recharge at about 2pm.

i am a Z flip 3 user, and im sooo happy with the phone. i also agree with you, the most appealing function that this phone offers me is their flex mode. where you dont have to hold the phone all the time and just put on the table and make it as a small laptop version.
and when the top screen is angled to directly the level of your eyes, yes satisfaction 😏

I got the blue one! I love it! I switched from a Pixel 3 🤣 so the battery capacity is amazing in my eyes. I've been waiting for it to come out before getting a z flip. The crease doesn't bother me at all and like you I love to read articles while folded

If you're getting the Flip 4, just be wary of the screen protector bubbling up at the crease. I finally removed mine on my Flip 3 today at Ubreakifix AKA Asurion for free. Took only 2 minutes. It was only getting bigger and annoying to look at. We'll see how it holds up without one but I do take really care of my phones and Gorilla Glass Victus is very scratch resistant.
Had I got the screen protector replacement, it would just bubble up again after 6 to 12 months depending on much I use it which surprisingly isn't much. I think if you only use one phone, you need to go for the Flip 4 over 3 just from the battery life alone. Since I carry two phones daily, I don't need the battery life upgrade.
My biggest concern without a screen protector is if the black cracks start developing on the crease? From what I've read, Flip 3 is durable enough without it unlike the previous two gens. It is water-resistant and the display was much stronger than the previous ones, so I'm guessing most likely not. Be a rare case if it happens.
If it does crack, then c'est la vie. They're just material things. Will have it recycled. Warranty expires tomorrow. Will be using my other four phones that still works fine in 2022. I do believe Flip 3 will hold up well without a screen protector. If it doesn't, then I know for sure it will be the last Z Flip I'll ever buy. I'll stick to the Motorola Razr line. I much prefer their cover displays.
My Flip 3's crease does feel less shallower without the screen protector. It actually feels nicer. Our screen protector for these flip phones is basically when they're closed.
I have the Flip 3 and I also removed the screen protector for the same reason. I've been using it daily without the protection for about 6 months now and I haven't noticed anything different than what I was used to before removing it.

Good review, but the crease on the Flip 4 is definitely less noticeable to the touch than than the Flip 3. It was the first thing I noticed.
You'll notice it all right once it starts cracking. 🤣

Thanks Thao! I'm using the first z flip and still loving the phone despite its known shortcomings, I think I'll hold to it for one more year and probably get the flip or fold 5 next 🙂
Many people online have reported screens cracking at the hinge when actually it is air bubbles under the screen protector. The UTG glass is actually quite durable. Let's hope the new adhesive on the screen protector sticks better

As a life-long iPhone user, I haven't stopped thinking about this phone since it was announced. I've had a 12 mini and the battery is awful & I refuse to 'upgrade' to a 13 mini because Apple have become so boring... I'll be getting the same phone plus I resent Apple for alienating those who prefer smaller phones by getting rid of their Mini line-up. I'm going to try & stick with my 12 mini for one more year until the Flip 5 as everything other than the battery is fine... but man... everyday I think about/watch videos to do with this phone! I love it!

Another amazing video. I would say if you own a flip 3. I would recommend upgrading through samsung as they are giving 900 for your flips 3 to flips 4 so really only 100 bucks for much needed improvements where it counts. Plus some additional pre order incentives were available as well.

nice review. i had flip3 and upgraded as well. i work in mobile market and I've had a new flagship phone every year. This is my favorite phone in like 10 years or more, and IMO, the most revolutionary phone since the OG iphones. I prefer android with snapdragon, so this phone is the one!!!

This is my first flip phone and the camera quality doesn't bother me because it's better than my last phone 😂 the battery life definitely made me finally want to get the phone. It lasts me quite a while before chargung it. I alsp love how it can fit in all my bags or my pockets nicely. The only time I see people go like "the fold factor doesn't seem appealing because I can fit my phone in my pocket" are typically men who have larger pockets.

@@salwazhr107 well I only got it because they had that trade in deal for $1000 for my old phone. The $1000 is still a bit steep. Idk what you can get the newest Samsung ultra for but if it's cheaper that might still be better 🤷♀️ I really enjoy my phone though

I haven't loved a phone as much I loved my flip 3 since the Note 3. The only issue that I have with the flip 4 is that it's a little thicker. Not much of one. Definitely not something I would deduct a point for, and certainly a nice trade off for that battery boost. But my feeling with the flip series is that the more compact they are capable of being while being able to present a I nice large screen, the better. For me, that's what its all about with this line of phones.

ive owned a smartphone now since iphone 4 came out it was the first everyone apart from one ive needed up cracking or smashing and ive never dropped a phone from my hands its always fallen out my pocket from the size this the flip 4 just fits bang on in there and honest i wish i got one sooner !
Just got my free Flip 4 from T-mobile by adding a line to my Magenta Max plan... rose gold... Thing is slipperier than snot on ice, wow... fortunately there's a free cover available via credit, so gonna take advantage of the ring case - I think. It really is easy to get attached to it; heck I've not even put the SIM in yet! I'd liked the fold but man, the price.

Just got mine, had the flip 3, traded my ultra 22 and made it a no brainer, 200 after trade in, which included tax, if you can trade in your old phone and it has value, definitely worth it! No other phone has this wow factor, period!

@@viru3708 I really like the phone, the biggest issue I had with the z flip 3 was battery life, not the case with the 4. Camera is slightly better. You don't buy this phone for the specs, you buy this phone for the "wow" factor and to turn heads. I'll say this, if you talk a lot on the phone it is much more comfortable holding after a long conversation and the fact that it can fold at any angle is kind of amazing.

Awesome 👌 video, I owned the flip 3 and was very satisfied 😌. Traded it in and got that crazy 900 dollar rebate. The flip 4 is an incredible device with a wonderful design and I love all of the improvements.
The biggest difference between folding phones with creases vs no crease is its ability to adjust the angle of the Fold. Other brands without it is more springboard so its open or close.

Love your reviews and anothe reason to upgrade could be because of the new cpu. Which is better in terms of handling thermal issue while heavy task and even for gaming
I would really love to hear the reasoning behind not adding Dex on this $1000 phone... It looks so fun, I love the fact that it provides a big screen and then folds in half ... Just can't get enough of the Flip. But the lack of Dex is a huge no-no for me. And it's not like you can just get the Fold4 instead - it's almost twice as expensive and i don't like the form factor nearly as much... Anyway, i really wish Samsung would stop making these ridiculous compromises. This is a high end device, why not act like it?
According to Samsung, it's due to "lack of heatproof performance in the structure" which I guess makes sense considering how much is crammed into the phone.

Only reason i upgraded from flip 3 to flip 4 is because its newer, the bugs have been fixed and battery life is better. plus the blue color one stole me. Anyone complaining about battery life and camera quality need to understood that no phone battery and camera quality on any phone will be perfect. phones are meant to be used as phones not cameras

I was waiting for THE review
If I had to pay full price for the Flip 4, I would have kept my Flip 3. But since Samsung gave me $900 trade-in credit, I'm essentially getting a brand new upgrade for $145. So hell yeah on that front.
I got the Bespoke white w/ chrome frame. Loving it 100% so far!
i wished i could get bespoken version, but we don't have it in Hong Kong 😢
I did the same thing with the trade in. My only complaint with my flip 3 was the battery so I'm loving my flip 4. It's much longer lasting

@@ahkeekee9910 Its very noticeable. Between the bigger battery and the more efficient SoC I'm getting much more life out of my flip 4. I have been keeping it on light processing mode to get even more time out of it and have zero lag or anything like that. I think you're going to be happy with it.

I just traded in my Pixel 6 "the brick" for a purple Flip 4. I'm in love with this phone. I hear ya about the phones that are getting bigger and bigger and don't fit in our pockets or worse yet a small bag.I'm not a heavy phone user, but this phone meets my needs and it is the phone that Sylvie uses in Emily In Paris LOL

loved my flip 3 for half the year but realized although it fits in my pocket better, it bulges out more than a regular phone. it also feels heavier in the pocket. battery life did suck and many people did have the screen start flickering on them after a year. i realized i needed a smaller phone so went with the pixel 6a, the asus zenfone 9 was too pricey. I will miss the cool flex mode and photo preview in the back when taking photos though! Those two features were a head turner.

All the other foldable phones on the market are not water resistant as the Samsung's foldables !
Just that means the Samsung's phone is more worth then what we see in the competition any day .
If having the crease was necessary to make the phone water resistant , then it was totally worth doing it.
Had the flip 3 I liked it but the battery life was awful. Flip 4 and has better battery life I can tolerate. 👍
I've been a long time Note user and decided I wanted a smaller phone again. I have no regrets as of yet with my Flip 4!
Do you not miss the S-pen, though??
@@karinkuhlemann5359 I didn't use the S-pen all too often so I don't miss it all too much. I do find myself reaching for it sometimes though, haha.
I keep hearing this phone breaks a lot and cracks has this happened to anyone I want one so bad. I have an iPhone 12 but I kinda want something different I miss my Samsung I had.
I have the Flip 3 and I beat the heck out of this phone and the hinge and screen are fine. Due to the really dusty conditions I work the mic is failing so I need to replace. While I should go to something more rugged I cant go back to slab phones. It fits in my shirt pocket or easily in my front pant pockets. Half folded on the table is how I use it no need for a kickstand.
Thao your reviews are the bomb!! I really really enjoy them so thank you and keep'em coming please! Now, another thing that I would consider the bomb...definitely the track pad and cursor on the flip-4, so cool!! Gotta say, Samsung continues to innovate.
The crease there is for a reason. Samsung said that the waterproof feature will be gone if the crease has to be removed. They have already tried what Chinese phones are selling but did not apply that creaseless screen. They said they are developing the technology to make creaseless phones which are also waterproof. In other words it can be creaseless at the cost of waterproof feature.
