So, I honestly think that Samsung and apple know that people are not buying new phones every year. They also know that new tech brings eyes. Eyes lead to more money indirectly outside of physical sales. These companies know that the sales of new devices are not going to be massive because people are not buying new phones every year. They know a lot of people are keeping their phones 3 or 4 years these days. They are not going to spend the money developing newer and greater tech when there is no market for it. They know that more sales are coming from people with an s10 than the s23. That is why we no longer see major developments in the tech year after year. In my example the s24u packs a punch compared to an s10 and that person might pull the trigger. However the s24u just barley has a slight edge over an s23u. Not enough to buy a new phone. Plus, most s23u users are probably still making payments on it. So of course they are not going to buy a new phone. With lower sales comes lower development and lower development costs. All of that still equates to profit. Samsung and apple figured this out years ago. Sadly, I got sucked in and upgraded from the s22u to the s24u. I regret it honestly as I use this phone exactly as I did my s22u. Only difference is I now have a monthly payment again till i get this new balance of $800 paid off. But i have learned and assuming my phone does not get physically destroyed, this will be my phone for at least the next 4 years.
@@matts1978 I agree with you. I'm different. I buy between 2-4 phones a year. I upgrade every year. I do the same with earbuds, smartwatches etc. I just love to buy new tech.

The Flip 6 is going to be my first foldable phone. I tend to be an early adopted in my friend group, so I'd say it's still a few years out from being mainstream at least. I think it would require apple to make a foldable to make it mainstream
I had the 4, 5 and now just got my 6 as I traded my 5 for it because of the camera upgrade. I hope i can keep my 6 till 8 comes out. Really been enjoying using my flips no issues with them all, its super compact and yet handy to fit every single pocket/purse I have :D
The crease, for the record, is BARELY, noticeable. My friend has the model from last year and the quality of the screen is absolutely gorgeous. I've always wanted a phone that can actually fold while delivering a quality screen, and I've seen with my own eyes that these things deliver. They deliver in every other category as well. It's been years for me so I'm upgrading.
The phone you choose depends on the individuals preferences. For me, the sheer carrying convenience of a foldable means I'm not going back to a slab 😀 I always smile when I see people walking around with these huge slab phones in their back pockets.
FINALLY someone addressed tge frame/hinge problem around the screen. I had to get my flip 5 replaced 5months in due to the frame being cracked and cause the whole screen to malfunction. I am on my 2nd flip5 and I see the same problem. They should definitely swap out the plastic frame for a metal one. This phone is not 100% durable. I love the concept and aesthetic, but it wont last like other samsung phones
Flip 6 for life ! This will be my 3rd flip after the 4 and 5. And I’ve always had them in cases and never had a single issue with them at all , I have confidence with the flip but I look after the phone pretty good
I pre ordered it in blue 😊 excited to use it already! I have an iPhone 12 pro right now that I will keep in case I don’t love the z flip and end up taking it back lol
As someone who has owned the Z Flip 4 for almost two years now, I don't know if I see myself ever going back to a slab phone, especially since they seem to keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger, which is my current disdain for smartphones. I'm very happy to hear about the vapor chamber. Hopefully that mitigates the overheating problems I've been having with my current model. And so long as all the apps that I choose work on the front screen, good lock doesn't bother me. I'm probably going to choose the Z Flip 6 over the razor 50 ultra, because the latter has compromises that I'm not exactly willing to deal with, especially in the camera department
@esmooth919 I completely understand I had the S22U and personally I love and I mean loved the camera the only issue was how big it was. My small hands couldn't stand holding nor texting and reaching across the entire screen I tried the zflip 4 for the heck of it lol cuz I wanted to see what it was like and see it I liked it. As soon as I got it I fell in love! Although I missed the camera quality bad. After that I couldn't really go back to a normal phone since I was so used to the flip. I just personally wished that samsung can incorporate really really good cameras to the z series! I know one day they will I gotta be patient hopefully it will be worth the wait... one day
After years of big phones I chose S23 last year and I love this phone. But as the Flip always is shipped with Snapdragon whereas the standard Galaxy S24 in Europe again is not, the Flip now with S24 battery size, S24 main cam, 12GB RAM instead of 8GB on S24 only, the Flip is becoming a real alternative for me. I hope to use the S23 for at least 2 additional years, but maybe its successor will be a Flip instead. I'd miss the 3x tele though, which for me is an essential lense (69mm equivalent), so I really hope Samsung will add all 3 S23/S24 cams or at least replace the quite uselessness ultra wide fish eye lense with 3x tele.
Best review of this phone. I upgraded from Flip 5, mostly because my brother and mother had (awful) issues with QC on theirs. I don't like the camera rings either on the Flip 6, so I got the silver because it seemed more discreet. Honestly, I'd likely cancel my order if it hadn't yet shipped. The Flip 3 brought me to foldables, so it's disappointing to see marginal improvements in specs and a step back in design. Also, I have Fold 6 coming, but it's, at least, a fresher design.
@@brandonsmith6962 Last year bigger front screen, this year Flip 6 has larger battery plus a cooler chamber, and slightly better aesthetics.. Other than that seems nothing to exciting for me.
The problem with increasing the hz of front display is that you would use more of the battery. With the fold you use the same amount of battery percent on the front and opened where as with the flip it saves you 3%ish per hour of usage from the battery tests ive seen
I’m still to concerned about durability to really consider a foldable. It’s to expensive to make a gamble, even though I love the design. And this version is the best looking yet.
60hz on the front display is to save battery hence having a smaller screen to complete task that don't need you to open your phone everytime to complete = save battery.
People always complain about 60Hz so only fair to point out that is is cheapening out especially as other OEMs have 120Hz. And 60Hz may not in fact mean better batter life as LTPO 2.0 can go down to 1Hz to save battery. Samsung just being cheap like with the 1080p inner display and only 240Hz PWM, the worst PWM dimming on any flagship. Instead of faking battery life with worse features they should just put a larger battery in there and give us better displays.
I had two Flips, and I decided to move back to the S line. Gosh, I missed a slab phone, lol. Every year, Samsung seems to close the gap to the S lineup, but the Galaxy S series is much more complete, durable, and reliable. I don't know why Samsung insists on releasing those Flips with a wide and ultrawide lens. It would be much smarter to have a wide and a telephoto lens. Not to mention the lack of Dex mode and other features.
I may consider the Flips and Folds after they come out of beta and lower their prices. I have zero confidence in foldable screens lasting as long as non-foldable ones without issues.
I love my Flip 4, and can't wait to get my Flip 6! Seems to be a pretty big upgrade coming from the 4 and the deals + trade-in values were tough to pass on!
Although I do like the new look of the Rings around the camera, Samsung used to push for dramatic changes each year for the better. I hope they don't continue this incremental updates each year especially with these unjustified price increases, (these are looking like moves Apple would make....and that's not good). I felt like there are huge missed opportunities without putting Dex.
I am getting my Razr 50 ultra tomorrow, coming from the flip5. So disappointed cause I really wanted the flip5, but it is just not worth it the upgrade
I still have the slab, but I'm getting there as far as switching. I will say, the RAZR+ looks soooooo much cooler than the zflip. Love the outer screen so much more, and the size is perfect (I got huge hands which is why the Ultras are nice) If the Razr had a 512GB version I would have already got that
Can I say..when I saw you doing the couch test..almost 😂..laughed... that's exactly what I would do. Great review. Thank you. Waiting on my order to arrive.🎉😊
Hello everyone! Thao here! When she doesn't say it, it always takes me a few to get into the video. 😩I always say it with her and do the hand gesture! I look forward to it every time! 😊 Still a great and well-executed video as always! 😃 If Samsung ever adds the S Pen inside the foldable somehow, I will switch!
Really enjoyed your review about this device, been pondering about trading in my S21 ultra for this. Especially since how compact this thing this and I'm not lugging around a brick in my pocket. With the S21 and a case on it, it will barely fit in the wireless charging port in a vehicle. It would definitely be nice if they gave the option to use the S pen on the device if users had one. Ever since I switched away from Apple I definitely will never go back. Towards the end of the video when you had mentioned more options to the cover screen, which they could easily fix that by doing a UI update to the device.
Almost got rid of S24 ultra for this. So glad i didn't. I love the portability of the flip. But not quite there yet, at least not for me to get rid my slab.
Uh mmm I say no. Samsung is jogging in place. Motorola has a 165 hrtz display on the front and higher refresh on main flip screen, more memory out of the box, it is also a 4inch screen. Bigger battery, and any app on front screen.
I hope next year the Flip 7 gets 1TB storage and 120hz front screen. Then it's basically got the best of the available technology barring some advancement in the actual foldable screen construction or material.
I don't like the crease you can always see, is plastic and easily can be broke or damaged with even too hard a press or make the inside leak, was looking at this since everybody is giving this phone away now, is just too fragile for me. great review
I’m just not sold on foldable devices, maybe once Samsung has a foldable device that gets my attention then I’ll probably get one. In the meantime, I’ll stick to what I know
My theory is the reason they didn't do an all cover screen display is not because they CANT but because they're planning on adding a 3rd camera to rival s25 ultra when it drops next year. There plan is for 2025 after all. Still a solid upgrade from the flip 5 imo mainly because of the battery and camera. 2 things that made me run from the 4 when I had one.
We've got another 3 to 4 years IMO before we see the Ultra and Fold series consolidated. They'll merge just like the Ultra and Note did. Once we get Ultra level cameras and built in S-Pen in the Fold it's game over. Having used the Folds since the 4 I have to admit it's almost painful to use a standard slab phone now. I don't know if there's any going back.
The battery life on your phone is interesting, because the rest of the reviewers and sites I've checked actually claim that the z flip 6 can't last for 5 hours of SoT 😭 I was going to buy one but the price increase + Samsung being so stagnant compared to the competition is making it a tough choice
My z flip 4 could get 5 hours of sot. My flip 5 could get 7. The 6 has a more efficient processor and more battery... its gonna get more than 5. Also it takes weeks for the Ai to learn usage before you get your true SOT. If your flip doesnt get good battery, its most likely an app killing the battery. Go through your app list, click every single app and check usage stats. Sleep and deep sleep apps you dont use alot. Android phones are not Iphones, they need set up. If you pull it out of the box and just use it as is without streamlining your power consumption, then you won't have good battery life.
Depends on what apps you use. Most reviewers use more intensive apps than average consumers so SOT will be less. They are probably also on 5G most of the day and higher brightness. If you are at home on wifi with low brightness then 7+ hours is easy; I can get 12 hours SOT at home on my S24U but on 5G outdoors closer to 7-8 hours.
The problem with the fold is the price. The problem with flip is the specs. The problem with the watch ultra and buds is that they are too similar to apple. Very disappointing selection this year. Let's be real also, in this economy, nobody should be spending money on tech unless you desperately need to. I still have $800 dollars to pay off my S24 ultra and to be honest, for my normal use case, I should have never left my S21 ultra, or even my Note 20. Tech is powerful these days. Even the tech from 4 years ago is still a powerhouse for most poeple. Save your money and buy groceries and spend time with your family.
Yep. I'm one of those people that prefer the candy bar form factor in phones. Watched on my S23 Ultra 512 GB ROM. (which I expect to use for 4 years). I don't think I'll ever buy a disable phone.
The only way for Samsung to make their foldables standard is the discontinue their flab Galaxy S Series Phones all together.. make their Z Fold and Flip standard phones.
I don't know anyone who actually uses Dex. But, I also don't get why with the internal upgrades and the cooling channel, they don't make that available on the Flip 6.
Thao first have to say looking amazing.Great review.I want to see and check out in person,But love your honesty and was waiting to hear and see everyone's thoughts so Thank You for sharing. And your little one is absolutely adorable.💯✌️
If they can make these devices as reliable and durable as the "slab" designs while adding extra battery life in the case of the Zfolds and bring the prices down in the range of current non folding flagships i might start considering them. Until then, as someone that has 0 cares to give about "thinness" i'm better served by a compact phone for comms in my pocket and a tablet for everything else in my bag.
Was contemplating the Z Flip 6 but the Sandstone orange looked stunning in the S24 series so l gave in and lm loving it. I dont mind the non foldable phones and its unjustifiable calling them 'slab' phones as they certainly arent especially as weve come a long way from when phones were certainly 'slabs' and 'bricks'.. And besides motorola actually brought out the folding phones at least two decades ago. I remember buying my son one in 2004 when he started secondary school. Saying that the motorola razr is a phone in a class of its own but as for me I'll happily stick with my S24 plus for now and may rethink the Z flip in a couple of years time...
I do miss my z flip phone but this Google pixel 8 pro got me hooked . The only downfall with the pixel is that it doesn't have switch camera while recording or directors view like how the z flip phone has . It does have the play and pause while recording so I guess that will work but that z flip 6 phone looking right lol . I like the camera ring colors cause it makes it pop out .
Freedom is giving flip6 at 15/month with their return program. Return program makes expensive phones affordable for normal people. Returning a phone after 2 years is just like you selling an old phone at a reasonable price. and getting a new one.
If they were just have the flip line with the top specs as a 24 it will be a game changer. It's like they treat it like a midranger, like it's not up to part as the s series which it should be. I'm on the fence if I should upgrade from the five😒and before that I had the four.
I didn't know Samsung made that prediction 😆 no way foldable are taking over anytime soon. They have always been tempting to me though maybe the fold 7 will be for me 😂
A bit of a harsh title considering this is the biggest leap Samsung has made from one generation to another. They play the long game, all companies do...they want to grab the market one step at the time. Long term strategy is what keeps all the tech giants running. They could've delivered these specs with the Flip 4 easily but this spoonfeeding makes the world go round.
I am not sure.. sounds a bit like someone who impulsively bought is and is trying to justify it now. Most features you mentioned are available on the S24 Ultra or even the normal S24 as well. Watching movies or videos on the small half-sized screen while charging it doesn't look like something one would do regularly, especially as you can just get a wireless charger with the right angle to do this on every phone and in full size (or simply us a cable, which will anyway be a better solution while still using it during charging times). Worrying about reliability and durability issues seems to be a bigger thing (at least to me) than all benefits I may have from buying such flip phone. It looks cool, it feels cool and it has an attractive form factor. But thats about it.
i had my phone on battery saver without realizing it, so I was locked to 60hz for 2 weeks, and I had no clue the *only* 60hz flex window thing makes zero sense to me
So glad it's not just me, the camera rings look super tacky! If I choose to upgrade from my Flip5, I'd have to get the Black version to mitigate that. But yea no real improvement in coverscreen or charging, most software features will eventually come to the 5, I'm staying put unless the trade in deals get much better..
Thank you for your honest review. I always appreciate your opinions. This will be my first flip phone so I'm torn between the Razr 2024 and the Flip 6. The Razors Cover screen refresh rate and usability, faster charging and even a smaller crease are appealing. Flip 6 better processor, better camera setup with wide angle and slightly smaller form factor are also appealing. What would you choose?
It gives me a headache. I'm a Flip5 owner and although I'm very happy, the purchase bonuses available in my country are giving me a headache and thinking about switching. The original price in my country for the Flip6 is $1,245. If I trade in my Flip5, I'll get a $450 discount plus a $214 "Trade-in Flip6" bonus, so the final price of the Flip6 would be around $581, which is already something very hard to ignore. Ideas, advice? :D
Apple fanboys love being owned, indoctrinated and told what they can and can't do. Android users actively seek the freedom and personalisation that their software provides.

Nice job on the review , I've been tempted to get one , but I do worry about the durability of the phone
Amazing videos, Samsung needs to step up to position these phones more broadly. The baby looks gorgeous as well, nice videos as always!
I pre-order the yellow! And I'm so excited to get it a week from now! 🥰🥰🥰
First year I've had zero temptation for one of Samsung's foldables. 😴 Unrelated, cute pants!
I mean they been the same since 3
Well specifically with the flip, last year was exciting because of the larger cover display.
@@brandonsmith6962 Last year bigger front screen, this year Flip 6 has larger battery plus a cooler chamber, and slightly better aesthetics.. Other than that seems nothing to exciting for me.
I feel the same way. I've had every Flip made by Samsung. I'm not going to upgrade because Samsung stagnated with the Flip and the Fold
There’s no chance foldables become the standard until Apple does it.
I had the 3, 4 and 5. Pre-ordered the 6, but canceled. I just think the 5 is still good for another year.
The problem with increasing the hz of front display is that you would use more of the battery. With the fold you use the same amount of battery percent on the front and opened where as with the flip it saves you 3%ish per hour of usage from the battery tests ive seen
I think 60hz in the flex window makes sense cause it consumes less battery.
Z fold 6 caught my attention this year 💕
i just preordered mine in yellow! tired of this iphones hopefully i don’t regret it!😅😅🌻🌻
Great review. Hopefully DEX is included when the next update is releasedl. Your daughter is adorable!
0:54 💯I can't believe they stuck with 60hz.
They have to make that front screen as useful as Motorola without mods if they want to attract more users
Do the cameras get in the way of the screen on the motorola?
I am getting my Razr 50 ultra tomorrow, coming from the flip5. So disappointed cause I really wanted the flip5, but it is just not worth it the upgrade
You'll regret that hinge on the razr returned for that reason. Feels super cheap compared to the flip 5 I got on prime day
@@christopherkinslow5432yes
Lol.
The bezels looks huge.
Does the cover display support aod with wallpaper like on the S24 series and Fold 6?
Very good review. That cat sketch was better than the AI renders!
Your baby is coming up amazing
Thanks for all the hard work
Really enjoyed your review about this device, been pondering about trading in my S21 ultra for this.
Hi, nice practical review. What's your thoughts on the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra
Always love your peppy honest reviews. Wow, remember when you were getting married. Your daughter is so cute! A Precious and blessed gift!
Great review. I'm an iPhone user and I just struggle with the idea of switching to this kind of form factor, but yet I am still intrigued..
I convinced myself to get a Flip. Never thought I would actually get a foldable up till now
In order for the Fold to replace the s24 ultra it needs three things, ultra cameras, silo for the S Pen, most importantly massive price reduction.
They just increased the price this year. There won't be any price reduction
And dex support! How can you forget!
Yes it doesn't exist in the flip, but I'm talking about the Fold 6.
Love the foldable. Samsung is still leading the way. Makers don't need to make huge jumps year over year. No tech sector is doing that.
Uh mmm I say no. Samsung is jogging in place. Motorola has a 165 hrtz display on the front and higher refresh on main flip screen, more memory out of the box, it is also a 4inch screen. Bigger battery, and any app on front screen.
@@Stev-mi2fd not many people buying those
@@AaronCrawford soooo that should tell you it's a better product... But hey you do you
I hope next year the Flip 7 gets 1TB storage and 120hz front screen. Then it's basically got the best of the available technology barring some advancement in the actual foldable screen construction or material.
Upgraded from the flip 3, so this version is much better for me. 🤷🏾♀️ If you're coming from the 5, I really wouldn't expect notable differences.
The Thumbnail is Fire. That AI image looks exactly like you geez!
I'm thinking I took an L trading in my s23 ultra for the zflip 6.... BUT I've always wanted to try it and it was a great deal lol. Great video!
Flip a great fun. However, the screen protector goes out fast. And changing Is a pain in the booty. Most places don't have it in stock.
Thao did you go with flip6 now? If so, what color are you using?
I went Silver Shadow this year
@@thao are you really loving it still?.. I wanna get one but would you recommend, to always have insurance on it, due to the hinge ?..
This is why I'm sticking to my s23 plus until the end of support date.
Yep. I'm one of those people that prefer the candy bar form factor in phones. Watched on my S23 Ultra 512 GB ROM. (which I expect to use for 4 years). I don't think I'll ever buy a disable phone.
The only way for Samsung to make their foldables standard is the discontinue their flab Galaxy S Series Phones all together.. make their Z Fold and Flip standard phones.
forget the phone, your skin is flawless omg 😮
am waiting for z fold 6
First comment! 😁
Thanks again for the awesome videos!
Thanks for watching 🥰
Great review! Love the honesty... I agree with you on the AI... None of those images were as beautiful as you 😊
If they reduced the price id take a folding phone over the slab phones, they charge WAY too much for the foldables even with their trade in discounts
I love your review. Straight to the point and very detailed.
I want to buy flip phone. Please tell me best option?
I do miss my z flip phone but this Google pixel 8 pro got me hooked . The only downfall with the pixel is that it doesn't have switch camera while recording or directors view like how the z flip phone has . It does have the play and pause while recording so I guess that will work but that z flip 6 phone looking right lol . I like the camera ring colors cause it makes it pop out .
Freedom is giving flip6 at 15/month with their return program. Return program makes expensive phones affordable for normal people. Returning a phone after 2 years is just like you selling an old phone at a reasonable price. and getting a new one.
I wonder if the brighter screen actually decreases battery when you're outdoors.
Thao is f@#%& glowing
Great job as always. But I don't want nothing flipped until 2030 😂🎉
If they were just have the flip line with the top specs as a 24 it will be a game changer. It's like they treat it like a midranger, like it's not up to part as the s series which it should be. I'm on the fence if I should upgrade from the five😒and before that I had the four.
Samsung should have claimed that the hinge is powered by AI. Might have gotten them a few extra sales from the regards...
I didn't know Samsung made that prediction 😆 no way foldable are taking over anytime soon. They have always been tempting to me though maybe the fold 7 will be for me 😂
Great honest review!
A bit of a harsh title considering this is the biggest leap Samsung has made from one generation to another. They play the long game, all companies do...they want to grab the market one step at the time. Long term strategy is what keeps all the tech giants running. They could've delivered these specs with the Flip 4 easily but this spoonfeeding makes the world go round.
having snapdragon gen 3 in this small form factor is the greatest thing
Thao why does it look like you are crying in your thumbnail? haha
i had my phone on battery saver without realizing it, so I was locked to 60hz for 2 weeks, and I had no clue
the *only* 60hz flex window thing makes zero sense to me
So glad it's not just me, the camera rings look super tacky! If I choose to upgrade from my Flip5, I'd have to get the Black version to mitigate that. But yea no real improvement in coverscreen or charging, most software features will eventually come to the 5, I'm staying put unless the trade in deals get much better..
Here's something novel. Knock off the sale bundles, the trade ins and actually....give a real price for the phone.
I'm happy with my s23+. Flip is a good looking phone though
I think you really need to take a look at the new Moto Razr + and see that it does way more as a flip phone vs the Galaxy.
The flip is too chunky in my opinion, add in the fact that it still doesn't have Dex and it's just a no for me even though I'm always looking at it.
I really enjoy your reviews 😁
Thank you for your honest review. I always appreciate your opinions.
This will be my first flip phone so I'm torn between the Razr 2024 and the Flip 6. The Razors Cover screen refresh rate and usability, faster charging and even a smaller crease are appealing. Flip 6 better processor, better camera setup with wide angle and slightly smaller form factor are also appealing.
What would you choose?
Razr with only downside being software support and after sale service
It gives me a headache.
I'm a Flip5 owner and although I'm very happy, the purchase bonuses available in my country are giving me a headache and thinking about switching.
The original price in my country for the Flip6 is $1,245. If I trade in my Flip5, I'll get a $450 discount plus a $214 "Trade-in Flip6" bonus, so the final price of the Flip6 would be around $581, which is already something very hard to ignore. Ideas, advice? :D
Think about the actual amount of money that leaves your pocket, nothing else. At the end of the day, you'll have $581 less.
This review is so refreshing to watch :)
It funny how Apple fanboy content with whatever Apple give them… but when it come to android they demands more and more
Apple fanboys love being owned, indoctrinated and told what they can and can't do.
Android users actively seek the freedom and personalisation that their software provides.
