@KatiuskaWook I have the zflip 5, and I thought about not upgrading for the same exact reasons. But ultimately, I ended up doing it because next year my Zflip 5 will be worth even less, and my years' worth of manufacturers warranty will expire. Last year I got 500 euros off of 1200 by trading in an old phone from 2010 that I had laying around. That was great. It's the greatest upgrade /trade in I've ever seen here. And I sold the flip 3 online for 350 euros. If I only had to pay 500 dollars like you then maybe I would've done it. But I love my flip 5 and changing the phone every year is just ridiculous especially considering under what conditions they're made so I'll wait until this flip gets old.

My Z Flip 6 is coming in the mail today! Right before vacation so I'll be happy to have that new camera. Also if the vapor chamber works that'll be great since the 5 would get hot when shooting video or editing video or just after being out on a hot summer day. Sad to hear it still gets warm tho. Since it was trade in I got mine for just shy of 400 which is a good deal, but compared to last year when I traded in my 4 for 5 it only cost me 90 dollars. So the trade in this year wasn't nearly as good. Always love the videos Matt
Really if you are upgrading every year, you aren't going to see a massive difference, I'm upgrading from the flip 4, as iv had it 2 years and now I see the upgraded ram, battery life, ai features, camera quality, dust/water protection, as a worthy upgrade.. You are never going to see a large jump with any iteration of products when it's the next one try waiting a year or 2 to see the difference.
Appreciated the comparison and breakdown! It felt a little disorganized - like jumping from the front facing camera video, to something else, and then back to cameras. But still a lot of good content. Keep em coming!
I was hesitant if I want to upgrade my current Flip5 to Flip6 or wait next year for Flip7 but now I see the pattern and Samsung's strategy. Flip 1 is the only model with an unique design than other Flip generations. Then you have Flip3 and Flip4 who look like twins in comparison (appearance). The same applies for Flip5 and Flip6. If this pattern continues then we will see new design every 2 years. Flip 1, 3, 5, 7 and so on... Flip 3 and 4, Flip 5 and 6, Flip 7 and 8 same design... That means that Flip 7 will have new form factor next year and I believe it will have bigger cover screen with 120 Hz refresh rate than Flip 5 and 6, stronger and more durable hinge with even less noticeable crease on the screen (or no crease at all), upgraded Vapor Chamber, 50 MP main camera with better optical zoom (maybe 4x?) and 50 MP ultrawide camera. So I will await and save money for Flip7. 😊
the thing is 5 years ago phones changes where huge each year and their whole experience. but for the last few years it seems it came to a Stillstand. a bit better camera here, a bit brighter screens there and a bit larger battery. that's the reason Im still using my oppo Find X2 pro from 2021. it came with a minimum of 512gb of storage and 12gb of ram. these are absolute Premium Specs even for today's flagships. sadly the software updates stopped rolling out and the phone is working less and less each day so i ordered the flip 6. its the only phone that excites me. the first gens were too fragile and now with the smaller crease i pulled the leaver. even tho i do not agree with the price strategy of Samsung at all...
These are for people that have higher disposable income and do not care about value. They are a lifestyle choice rather than the best choice. Nothing wrong with that, but Samsung will eventually realise that they can only squeeze so many sales out of people with that mindset.
Honestly, I feel the same for iPhone. It’s coming out with the same shit just updating the camera and the battery and that’s it. That’s why I haven’t updated my phone.😂
@@andyH_England Point is we have better non foldables . And Sales also tell that consumers dont like this new direction by samsung . Pre order number are lower than last year whereas we expect foldables sales to grow each year as foldable tech is getting cheaper each year. Same thing for the fold
@@Jadepeanut last year when I upgraded it was only about $150, and this year it was like $400 with trade in. So a lot more expensive for a very minor upgrade.
For the US, trade-in can make a world of difference but this channel caters for the world where most trade-ins are not good. For example, in the UK only £550 for a Galaxy Fold 5, a loss of £1200 in a year. So, no, retail price for everywhere but the US is the deal-breaker. In the US, Samsung has declared war on rivals and is trying to kill off competition.
@@andyH_England Nah, my backwater country in south east asia still had trade-in bonus too. Traded in A52 5G (unglued and broken back cover, missing power button, it's trash) to an S24+ 256GB. I got 300 USD from this trash phone! And with 30 USD and 50 USD promos.
Very true. I am sittng here pondering taking the offer for my flip4. Over here, they offer an Okayish price for my current phone, 100€ off on top, free buds 3 (the regular ones), free transparent case and free tags. For the 256gb version, I would still need to shell out about €700 for the upgrade. Not thrilled. I got a much better deal for the flip4, which is why I ended up getting it in the first place.
My phone's pretty dang busted. The glass back is completely cracked to the point where you can see the phone underneath in some spots and there's bits of broken glass in the case. Sooo i don't think i can trade that in
I have a flip 6, and honestly i really love it (had a 10e). The features are quite similar, and i really like the sd card and button biometric options that this phone has, and most others nowadays dont. Its just the little things that make me love it more and more
Adaptive color tone feels like more different than truetone, I think truetone and eyecomfort shield is most likely the same based on my experience. I like the front camera on flip 5, but let see for the updates in Flip 6.
Not all new cases are compatible with the new flip. The new cameras are bigger and oriented very slightly different, making many old flip 5 cases unable to fit over the camera slots and sticking sideways.
I switched from an iPhone 12 to the z flip 5 last year and I actually loved this phone but the biggest thing that's making me want to go back to a regular phone is the battery life, it dies so quickly and overheats way to easily. I can't play certain mobile games anymore either, but other than that it did great. Might switch to the s24+
He right ! Z flip 6 is nice more fancy phone. I like that but just that 100 more is crazy. Ill i want the phone for is to call play around with the front screen display & be on fb I.G ect. I might just go for the normal z flip 5
That is untrue. Look at it as the neutral YT creators giving a balanced review, but the sponsored affiliated-to-Samsung YT influencers are where you need to go if you only want to see love for the Flip6.
I appreciate the review, but I would've liked a more technical look at how the phone works under pressure. Telling me they get "warm" doesn't give me a whole lot to go off of. There are instruments and measurements that can be applied to give accuracy so I can have a frame of reference as to what "warm" is. How does performance suffer when the phone's cpu is under a load? I like how it looks without a case, but it looks so bad with a case on, and yet I'd feel foolish without one. Overall, I feel like I should be skipping out on this form factor for another several years.
I tell people they should buy something other than a Galaxy Flip for intensive workloads like gaming. It heats up and throttles hard (as low as 40% in some tests). It is more of a lifestyle phone for casual users or for people who like to take selfies (vloggers, influencers, etc).
I got Flip 6 cause i just needed a new phone and wanted to try something new, yeah its overpriced but its really fun to use. Something that really killed me is when i saw price tags for Flip6 phone cases. Sorry but $50 was a lot and then i found out that there is one for $90 as well. Like what are those prices just for the phone cases that i can get on Amazon for 5 bucks
I pre-ordered this phone and decided to cancel it due to the price increase. Its more expensive than the S24 Plus which is a better phone with a bigger battery and better cameras.
Data from pre-order sales in S Korea show a 10% fall in numbers which factors interestingly in with the c10% increase in price suggesting a direct correlation. S Korea had a great pre-order year for the 5-series so maybe not significant, but disappointing as Samsung forecast 10% increase. Though Samsung PR and marketing is mostly nonsense so didn’t expect 10% rise.
It is overrated, and mainly for casual users, or a lifestyle choice. They are worse value bang for bucks and become a chore to constantly open and close for many of us who respond to messages all day. Hard to recommend unless the novelty factor excites you.
I absolutely love it. I got the flip 3 in 2021 even though I knew the camera wouldn't be as good as others which used to be the most important thing for me since I love to travel and taking pictures of landscapes or at night. No phone so far has beaten the night vision photos like my Nokia lumia 920 from a decade ago so i had given up on that being good anyways. The flip 3 i got was to see if I could travel with a bit less camera. And I just love the form factor so much that I got my flip 5 last year. For now I'm definitely not going back to a regular phone even though the camera isn't as good. Im still making photos and videos that i post (I'm an amateur travel influencer who just loves it as a hobby). The flip factor and being able to do stuff on the front screen for me us absolutely amazing. The fact that for the first time the phone fits in my pocket I also love. When it comes to travel I had a regular phone stolen out of my hand once many years ago. Now with the flip I can hold it tight in my hand which just feels good for me (yes i know you can wear it on a cord but i know of people who still has it stolen that way). I can now also easily hide it and some people don't even realize it's a phone! I'm also able to type with one hand which I'm doing now. I can't do that on many regular phones. I've used it with and without cases and love both. I also use an iPhone 12 for work. I phones are incredibly boring. I love the personalisation you can do on samsung. And with more different stuff on the front as well. I love my phone a lot and will not get something regular for now.
There giving a lot less for the last years model of the z flip... I've traded up to the new version 3 years in a row and have always gotten $950. And have never paid more than $120. For the brand new model! Now they're only willing to pay $650. For my still perfect Z flip 5 (that half the price it sold for last year!) They want me to pay almost $500. Out of pocket this year for extremely little change! Last year we got a huge change with the new bigger front screen!!! And I paid a total of $50. Out of pocket after my z flip 4 trade in credit!!! NOT HAPPY!!
You have been lucky. Outside N America, we have never had good trade-ins, always losing £500-600 if we upgrade yearly. But Samsung is doing it in the US to fake how successful their folding phones are. Get people to upgrade yearly, which makes the affiliated Samsung bloggers proudly brag about those sales figures. If Samsung gave the US the same trade-ins as the UK, sales would be disastrous.
Ive currently got a A71 that ive had for about 3 years, and the battery life is going out very quick. I cant last a full 24 hours on a full charge. So my mom is giving me her broken zflip5 and its really gimmicky imo. The whole folding aspect of the five doesn't seem really sturdy, because it's got some play in the bend. The 6 however seems a lot better built.
Is it worth it to get a flip 5 now? Used the original iPhone se till it died, moved to pixel 4 and still using it. Would the upgrade to a flip 5 be worth it? The new flip 6 sounds good but too overpriced. So i need help🤣
I don't think people understand. These phones are more of a flex than a smartphone. They can physically do something that your regular smartphone can't. Yes the price is a little high but that's mostly why.
They said, "we will add a cooling chamber and raise the price." I get it but yeah, compare to other phones of the same price, its not close performance wise
The trade in deal was honestly pretty bad now. For a while Samsung was maintaining hype by doing $100 dollar trade ups from the previous gen, so i was surprised to see this time the trade deal was way more standard. Maybe like 500 dollars to trade up from a flip 5 to 6. Disappointed but makes sense
Saying you miss out on features getting a flip phone is dead wrong IMO. Sure you dont get the best of the best cameras, but you get so much more outside of that. I'm on my 2nd foldable and will never go back to a candybar phone. I'd be missing out on too much!
I think for $1100, not getting a zoom camera, only 1080p inner display, only 240Hz PWM dimming (worst in the flagship market), no DeX, slow charging, etc, are big omissions.
Matthew you may want to put labels to the table above these phones due to your conversation drifting from one to the next confusing viewers of which version you are talking about. Kinda awkward to follow your comparisons of these two phones, but thanks for posting this video.
I traded in the Flip 5 for the Flip 6 for the free Samsung Care+, the possibility of extra battery life and the enhanced 50 megapixel camera. I feel like these phones can fail at any time and I was living risky owning one without any kind of insurance to cover any problem beyond the warranty.
I bought the Z flip 4 upgraded to the five and now the 6 the 6th is definitely not worth the price I feel like I have the exact same phone as the six or the five I mean the one thing I do notice is the battery does last longer the upgraded camera I can't tell it all maybe I just don't know enough about cameras but when I'm taking pictures I can't tell the difference I switch back and forth from 50 megapixel to the 12 and you really can't even tell it's hard to tell I feel like if you have a 5 just stick with it and wait for the seven last year I only paid $50 to upgrade this year I had to pay $300 what's the deal
Given the significant internal upgrades, I'm okay with the price increase. What I'm NOT okay with is how hard they kicked us in the nuts this year on the trade in values. BTW, my 5 cases do NOT work well at all with my 6
Both generations probably have the same ultrawide camera, with the actual difference being the main camera. The Z Flip 6 main camera is wider, so the ultrawide is 0.6 times relative to the main camera. The Z Flip 5 has a less wide main camera, so you get 0.5 times ultrawide camera.
I preordered my with a $500 discount no trade in thru my carrier. Would you say its worth it or should i just keep my pixel 8? You've got me questioning my decision.
Foldables are still only around 3% of total smartphone sales, and that's after 6 years of development now, just when is this breakthrough to the mainstream going to happen?
I think its better to start a video on a positive note. You could've said the price difference and prefferences as a conclusion at the end instead of an intro.
My theory is the reason they didn't change much on the front screen is because they are adding a 3rd camera next year. 2025 is when they said their flip and fold will rival the S line (s24,25 etc...)
@@ant.8635 yes I know which si fine but I prefer 4200 or more but I understand, it just same step with battery like iPhone 14 and Samsung s22 and so on with 4000 battery life.
Still have to use Good lock thought Samsung would have worked it out by now how to get the outer screen to work out of the box like Motorola,I'll use my flip5 for a few more years,in my opinion it's not worth going from flip5 to 6,I'll see what flip 7 is like before I upgrade
I don't think video or camera looks better on the 6.... everything else just doesn't matter for the $400 more extra trade in price grab....Samsung is taking a chance for profit.
I'm still thinking if I should buy the new Zflip 6, my cellphone its already 4 years old and I never had Zflip before, but I don't know if this is a good moment to buy it or wait some months for lower prices
If you're coming from a 4 year old phone, I say just get the Fold 6. Yes, it's expensive, but worth it. It's small enough to fit in your pocket, small when you want a small phone, and big when you want a big phone. Despite reviewers saying its crease is the same as last year, I can tell you the crease has definitely decreased year over year (I am typing this with a Fold 6 with now). You also seem to hold onto your phone for a long time (4 years) and Samsung is supporting the Fold 6 with 7 years of software updates. Sure, people complain about the cameras being the same for the past 2 or 3 years, but honestly, the cameras are already really good. But yes... I say you wait until Black Friday to purchase, whether you get the Flip 6 or Fold 6.
@@kaochao2356 Thank You so much, i'm typing with a Poco X3 pro, so buying a new one with Even more space than my actual one its great, because I could use it for at least 5-6 years until change to the next flip
@@kaochao2356 but also I prefer the flip over the fold because has more things that I need, I don't really use My phone to play huge games that needs all the power that the Fold has.
For anyone who has used flip over the years, whats your opinion on the performance and cosmetic wise? I have interest to buy this one, currently using iphone12, but i have worries that the screen will have problems (since its flip, and it will wears off at the hinges etc), also with the battery. Using iphone now for 3years and its working fine except for my storage since i only bought 128gb. I had experience using samsung in my teen and it didnt last long 😢would love to hear anyone opinion on this.
Performance wise, any iphone below the 14 Max version will be blown out of the water even by my flip4. It's faster, it's smoother with a 120hz main screen. Battery is fine, wireless up to 15w, wired up to 25w. Some people hate it, but it's more than enough for me. The 6th one has something like 10% more capacity. Wear and change the screen protector and you will be fine. Again, the 6th flip has an even smaller crease. Haven't tried the new 50 mp camera, but the camerq department was traditionally weak onnthe flip. Thia year I heard it got better and is out there amongst the flagships.
Ive had each generation of the Galaxy Z Flip.. my 6 comes tomorrow. Never had a screen issue. Inly one I've had any issue with is my current 5,the charging port has not worked since a month in.. always says it's got moisture or something in it.. it doesn't.. it's under warranty so it's scheduled to be shipped off for repair as soon as my 6 comes. I always keep my previous year as my backup, and trade the one before that, in to get the discount on the pre-order. My screens do not look worn, nor do the creases. It comes with a screen protector built in, so that helps quite a lot. I always get compliments on my phone by friends and at times, strangers. You'll love it.
If you expect to keep it for three years, I suspect the failure rate is probably only around 20%, but after that, it is probably higher. These are not likely to survive as long as candy bar phones and Samsung admits this, but in 2024 they are more reliable than from say, two years ago.
What do you guys think of the Z Flip 6?

I don't feel these phones justify the price. I know they are not for everyone but I don't see me paying more for something that gives me less.
Ya they are getting out of control
So a lot more expensive for a very minor upgrade.
a comparison between this and the new razr would be awesome
Let me see if i can get one in
Is it me or does the camera look better on the 5
It's not the list price, it's the trade-in offers.
@@bassyey That is great!
Sooo i don't think i can trade that in
I'm so sick of sharp square edges. Galaxy S8 rounded edges felt so nice. Then they got boxier and boxier. I hate holding my S22.
Wow loved the honesty.. You're cleary not getting paid to promote anything here.. Hope for a fold6 review comparing it to older models too.. 🙏🕺🎉
I have a flip 6, and honestly i really love it (had a 10e). The features are quite similar, and i really like the sd card and button biometric options that this phone has, and most others nowadays dont. Its just the little things that make me love it more and more
I hope flip6 has better quality....two of my flip 5 screens had issues within a year.
Adaptive color tone feels like more different than truetone, I think truetone and eyecomfort shield is most likely the same based on my experience. I like the front camera on flip 5, but let see for the updates in Flip 6.
"The first picture most dudes do, when they get something they can draw with" 🤣
I prefer the selfie video on the 5.
On the 6 it looks so foggy, like a mid range camera.
I switched from Apple iPhone 15 Plus to the Samsung Z Flip6 and Im Happy 🎉greetings from Switzerland 😊
Just got mine today. Liking it so far. I get what your saying about the rounded sides, but I don't think anyone is rawdogging these things.
Oh for sure most people are chucking case on it
I've got a new Flip 5 at Costco for the 700 CAD. This is tremendous difference with the price of Flip 6 even with the black Friday discounts.
Hi Yeah Same iisue with Flip 5 wht I hav .... .. but I heard update to latest Software and Heating issue wil be sorted
He right ! Z flip 6 is nice more fancy phone. I like that but just that 100 more is crazy. Ill i want the phone for is to call play around with the front screen display & be on fb I.G ect. I might just go for the normal z flip 5
It funny on apple all the youtube tech guys is content with whatever apple is giving them. But on android, all they do is complain
Really appreciate your honest opinion and comparison!
Thank you!
I feel the 100 dollars is justified for me i bought one
I got Flip 6 cause i just needed a new phone and wanted to try something new, yeah its overpriced but its really fun to use. Something that really killed me is when i saw price tags for Flip6 phone cases. Sorry but $50 was a lot and then i found out that there is one for $90 as well. Like what are those prices just for the phone cases that i can get on Amazon for 5 bucks
Yay! I was waiting for this video from you, after seeing your reel on it!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Excellent review. Txs
I pre-ordered this phone and decided to cancel it due to the price increase. Its more expensive than the S24 Plus which is a better phone with a bigger battery and better cameras.
Ya that's the problem now. You're paying more for less. You have to really love making the phone small over everything else to buy this
Data from pre-order sales in S Korea show a 10% fall in numbers which factors interestingly in with the c10% increase in price suggesting a direct correlation. S Korea had a great pre-order year for the 5-series so maybe not significant, but disappointing as Samsung forecast 10% increase. Though Samsung PR and marketing is mostly nonsense so didn’t expect 10% rise.
@@andyH_England also noticing general interest in the flip in terms of RUclips views compared to flip 5 is crazy low
ordered my flip 6 today
changing it over my 13 Pro🤞
I’m excited for the new pixel fold I hope you cover it right away 🙏🏻
I’d be interested in hearing people’s use cases for this type of phone. I just can’t imagine wanting to use this over a normal phone
@@andyH_England"us that respond to messages all day"
Your group shouldn't get it then
What about the front camera? I find that the flip 5 is very unappealing.
Can you do a compare review between flip and xiaomi mix flip?
Great review!
THE NEW FLIP 6 PERFECT 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The biggest deal breaker is the lack of micro SD slot. That's non negotiable for me.
I feel if you don’t care for the camera and the crease so much you good

Why does my flip6 have the manufacturers details on the back but all others I've seen don't?
I don't think people understand. These phones are more of a flex than a smartphone. They can physically do something that your regular smartphone can't. Yes the price is a little high but that's mostly why.
Very good review. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
You re absolutely right!
They said, "we will add a cooling chamber and raise the price." I get it but yeah, compare to other phones of the same price, its not close performance wise
why does the flip 5 camera look better??
Feel as though the 5 has a better picture quality on the front camera when videoing.
The Z Flip 6 has an extra microphone at the top. Hence, the cases aren't compatible with each other.
Cuanto tiempo de diferencia es la duración fe bateria bro?
I can upgrade from a 5 to a 6 for $300. Do you think it's worth it?
$350 for me was a hard price to pass up. it's the lowest price on a phone i've ever had with the storage option i want.
honestly, i think zf5 camera are better, sharper & brighter.
Given the significant internal upgrades, I'm okay with the price increase. What I'm NOT okay with is how hard they kicked us in the nuts this year on the trade in values. BTW, my 5 cases do NOT work well at all with my 6
Just got the flip 5 In march, no regrets
Any issues with the screen or screen protector?
Both generations probably have the same ultrawide camera, with the actual difference being the main camera. The Z Flip 6 main camera is wider, so the ultrawide is 0.6 times relative to the main camera. The Z Flip 5 has a less wide main camera, so you get 0.5 times ultrawide camera.
should i get the flip 5 for my wife new at 500 dollars?
I preordered my with a $500 discount no trade in thru my carrier. Would you say its worth it or should i just keep my pixel 8? You've got me questioning my decision.
8 suck
Foldables are still only around 3% of total smartphone sales, and that's after 6 years of development now, just when is this breakthrough to the mainstream going to happen?
I think its better to start a video on a positive note. You could've said the price difference and prefferences as a conclusion at the end instead of an intro.
My theory is the reason they didn't change much on the front screen is because they are adding a 3rd camera next year. 2025 is when they said their flip and fold will rival the S line (s24,25 etc...)
Yes, but I want more battery

If you take vid and pic. Go for ultra. No not. Pick other models. Is groovy.
I wasnt sure about the narrow screen, moved from S21 ultra, but after a few days dont notice it now. Very happy with my Flip5.
The 5 pics looks brighter and richer but I mean the 6 supposedly has better hardware. Maybe it’s the settings you have on them.

from samsung a50? yes once I have money when Z Flip 50 be released.
I actually like the z flip 5 pics better!
Why flip. 5 front camera looks better......
I don't think video or camera looks better on the 6.... everything else just doesn't matter for the $400 more extra trade in price grab....Samsung is taking a chance for profit.
My Flip 5 has front scrach screen :( problably I will change for this one.

I'm still thinking if I should buy the new Zflip 6, my cellphone its already 4 years old and I never had Zflip before, but I don't know if this is a good moment to buy it or wait some months for lower prices
SAME HERE BUT HIGH PRICE TAG AND OUT OF DATE UGLY CUT COVER SCREEN IS A NO FOR ME . THERE ARE BETTER FLIP PHONES FOR LESS.

Okay the art you decide to draw was suspicious 👀 lol
