This will be the first flip phone that I've owned since the late 2000's so I'm kinda excited to try this out. I'm coming from an S21 Ultra and I'm tired of having a big phone as well so really looking forward to see how much I actually open the phone for use.
I actually bent my s23 ultra I work construction and bent down bent the phone got it fixed and decided I needed a smaller phone this fills that niche and I don't mind the weaker camera. Great review as usual .

Really great review, was definitely looking forward to it, especially since I have it pre-ordered...coming from a S20FE. The fact that Samsung is giving me $400 trade in credit vs Motos $60 is not to be understated, as a matter of fact most people upgrading are getting the 512GB model for only $100 with more recent trade-ins, can't beat that! 🙂

I got the pre-order discount plus student discount, so in Australia, I paid $1319.20 for the 512GB, when before any discount it's retailing at $1849.00. I didn't bother with trading in my existing Z Flip 3, as I like having a spare phone just in case I need it. Samsung have pretty good presale deals and if you're a student or know someone who is a student, get that student discount!

Very good review! I've seen like pretty much everyone's review on the Z Flip 5 and I'd say yours tops them! From commenting on the animation you get on Spotify's Playtime to the statistics of the cover screens usage etc. I've been using mine for 2 days now (mint green colour with the FlipSuit Case :P) and I am so so glad that I upgraded from my Z Flip 4 to the 5! And like you said the big reason why is because of the 'Good Lock' app, it's LITERALLY a game changer!! And again like you said, it's crazy how Samsung didn't advertise this or implement it into the phone from the get go. Huge shout to the developers who made this app (Good Lock Labs) which is also available on Samsung Galaxy Store 👏👏👍🔥👌😁

I got to hold the Z Flip 5 at the Galaxy Experience Store, and I also noticed the wobble in the hinge (dissapointing), and that the phone doesn't hold up open in the narrow angle as the Z Flip 4 and closes fast on its own. This diminishes the feeling of having to "snap" it with hands for the vintage sound effect. I didn't like that, and you are the first reviewer I've seen so far who noticed this difference too. The insane trade-in value makes it tempting to upgrade, but the Z Flip 4 seems to have a better structure despite this new overhyped "no gap" marketing. That's kind of sad.

In fact, I like the Z Flip 4 gap better than the almost-no-gap in Z Flip 5 because with the gap it's easier to slide your finger in to open the phone. In Flip 5 you will need to scratch the inside screen more by pushing the nails into the device with no gap. So, that is a totally different issue. You missed the point of my initial comment.
@@ayudroid3568 Of course, everything is physics. But there is a difference between flexibility and wobbling. Z Flip 5 is much more wobbly AND with a bigger crease, by the way, than that of the Z Flip 4, due to this new hinge. The difference in crease can be seen on the sides if compared. Really dissapointing. Z Flip 4 feels more solid with a much more pleasant suble crease and a better matte finish that they used for Z Fold 5 (and market it as a more premium device). Compare Z Flip 4 ice blue with Z Fold 5 ice blue. Nearly identintical! They hyped up the bigger cover screen of Z Flip 5 to trick everyone to send back their Z Flip 4. The groupthink strategy at its finest.

I think samsung puts a crease on purpose so it lasts longer honestly, cause when there's not a crease and you are folding something often it will wear out

Torn on waiting till next year to upgrade. I have the 4 and I feel like Samsung introduces major differences every other year. And the other years just refine the previous model. For example, the 4 and 3 are hugely different but the 4 is more refined in areas like battery. So I feel like the Flip 6 will look the same but have better battery, more cover screen functionality, crease/hinge improvements, and hopefully Dex
Features on Good Lock are basically Samsung's experiments for what they will do natively on the next software. I think the customization on Good Lock is amazing.
I'd love a flip but my big fingers means I don't buy narrower than an Ultra. Not interested in a fold as they are pretty bulky, but a foldable Ultra would be interesting. Not likely to have a stylus though, with the softer screen?

I traded my samsung s9 phone for this which gave me a $400CAD trade in bonus so my flip cost me $900. Samsung is guaranteeing a $1000 trade in value for the flip 5 next year so if i change phones again I won't lose out on anything. Too good a deal to pass. Also upgraded my tab s6 to tab s9+ and this bigger screen is glorious! Gave the watch 6 classic that came free with these to my mom since i don't like wearing a watch. Haven't been this happy with a tech purchase in hears.
I received mine a couple of days ago and it's pretty nice. Coming from an Iphone 12 pro max, the issue I have with it is i think its specs is subpar to my old phone. Perfomance and photo quality is ok, at best, low light pictures are bad. But that slim design and pocketable size (yay for smaller phones!), if that's your priority, is awesome. I also use quite a lot the cover screen, and the bigger screen is nice to the touch. The Zflip5 gets quite hot under gaming usage, on that half that got the smaller screen. Little anxious to see if the phone's going to survive that canadian winter. Oh, almost forgot, phone is as slippery as holding a fish fresh out of water, a case/tape with a bit of grip would be recommandable.
As of now I have the Motorola Razr Plus but I do have the Samsung flip 5 on pre-order so I will use both phones for 90 days each and keep the one that I like the best. The only thing that has me leaning more towards the Samsung more is the update policy Samsung is pretty much on it and handles business and Motorola is iffy at best. I can do all on the cover screen with my z flip 4 like how the z flip 5 outer display is used . I downloaded CoverScreen OS and it’s the best . I said this previously on someone else’s video , I rather the z flip 4 than the z flip 5 cause I’m already being careful with my z flip 4 imagine having the z flip 5 where you will end up having anxiety cause now you have to worry about the cover screen and regular screen lol 😂 however I would never go back to iPhone . I’m a big fan of the z flip family . Being a mom , it makes everything easier ! Especially where pairing up with the Samsung watch , JUST EASIER !

This is going to be my first foldable. TBH, with this new cover screen, I wonder if I will just want a smaller standard phone next upgrade. The screen would be BIGGER than this outside display, it would be more efficient and won't have this weird shape/thickness. We will see. Right now I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, with my large S20U.
I have a s23 ultra but something about the flip 5 and razr has me wanting to get a flip foldable. The best of both worlds, a small screen when you need it and a big screen when you need it.

I own the zflip5. I also have a concern about the durability. But when you get a feel of it, it actually feels durable. Ofc, not as durable as a slab phone. But it doesn't feel fragile at all. Especially, coupled with a good protective case (I suggest a case with hinge cover).

I have and s20u, but it's cracked on the back, only $200. Instead, I bought a used flip4 and I'm trading that in... Keeping the s20.

The only thing that has me leaning more towards the Samsung more is the update policy Samsung is pretty much on it and handles business and Motorola is iffy at best. Definitely go for Z fold 5 as soon as I can afford it. The hinge is driving me crazy , so do 😢the optimized apps for big screen on Samsung UI 6.0
I can do all on the cover screen with my z flip 4 like how the z flip 5 outer display is used . I downloaded CoverScreen OS and it’s the best . I said this previously on someone else’s video , I rather the z flip 4 than the z flip 5 cause I’m already being careful with my z flip 4 imagine having the z flip 5 where you will end up having anxiety cause now you have to worry about the cover screen and regular screen lol 😂 however I would never go back to iPhone . I’m a big fan of the z flip family . Being a mom , it makes everything easier ! Especially where pairing up with the Samsung watch , JUST EASIER !

This is going to be my first foldable. TBH, with this new cover screen, I wonder if I will just want a smaller standard phone next upgrade. The screen would be BIGGER than this outside display, it would be more efficient and won't have this weird shape/thickness. We will see. Right now I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum, with my large S20U.
I have a s23 ultra but something about the flip 5 and razr has me wanting to get a flip foldable. The best of both worlds, a small screen when you need it and a big screen when you need it.

my only problem with this phone is the finger print sensor, you have to register you thumb twice once when its folded and when its not

I own the zflip5. I also have a concern about the durability. But when you get a feel of it, it actually feels durable. Ofc, not as durable as a slab phone. But it doesn't feel fragile at all. Especially, coupled with a good protective case (I suggest a case with hinge cover).
