You can't use uv resin to attach the pin, but you can do another coat of resin once it's been glued on, makes a more durable and more polished looking pin. These are super cute! ❤
Super cute!!! Great instruction and love that you added your little things to not do as most people skip that and make things look so easy. Thank you for all the tips and love the idea and great job!!!!!!
I love this!! Also love Amy made. I'm not an expert on resin but I do use it. The best tip is actually from her as well and its to put your cured uv resin in a glass of water and cure again. Definitely gonna make these 😊
Thank you for sharing. I do use resin, but not uv. I love doing resin products. I also do cricket earrings with faux leather. I've had more fun with cricket stuff this year. Really thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
Wow! You can change Print and Cut to Basic, use Contour and change it back to Print and Cut??!! 🤯 Also FYI, all UV resin is non-mix. I like JDiction UV resin, it doesn’t get sticky. On the rare occasion that it does, I find just leaving it overnight works. I would have used just a touch more resin than you did and silicone “brush”, I think it would have helped it spread better. These are so cute! I want to try photo Christmas ornaments this way so thanks for the tips!
The arrow on the registration mark is so you know what direction to put paper. Yes you can use the resin to tack the pin down. So cute gonna have to try!
Those are so super cute. Thank you for sharing. I have been wanting to try doing the shrink wrap. I have only used UV resin, but I am going to try epoxy resin. I loved the tutorial.
Oh they are gorgeous ❤️❤️❤️, I havnt used print then cut facilities 🤦♀️🤷🏼♀️, but you have inspired me to have a go…. Since I only have a printer , fingers crossed 🤞 💋💋
Chazcov08 I was just about to say the same thing. I always wondered why are they calling it "shrink plastic?". It's Shrinky Dink. I know, it's a name brand thing. 😅😂 😅
@@chazcov08They all think they've invented all of this new stuff... As a 61-year-old grandma there is nothing we are using now that we weren't using 40 years ago and just calling something else. 😂 Except the UV resin, I'll give them that one. We were doing shrinky dinks before these youngsters were ever even thought of. ❤
For anyone who doesn’t want to use resin because it’s toxic and you need to have proper ventilation and PPE, I’ve had great luck with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic!
I forgot to answer your question about using the resin instead of the glue. Absolutely you can use it. Just remember the light cannot cure where the light doesn't hit. So you can scratch a little bit to roughen the surface where the pin will be. Use a pin or the tip of a metal nail file or scissors to dig in just a bit. Just to give the resin something more to grab onto. Your glue might suggest that too. Even just a little X is better than nothing. Add one drop and set the pin into the resin. Cure once and turn it different angles after the first 30 seconds of the cure cycle. Then you can tip it to let the light get in under that pin a bit. Then drop and spread a bubble of resin over the base and cover the area. Let it spread out just a bit more so it's touching the other resin already there and finish the full curing cycle. You'll have a secure pin for sure. Test both ways and see which way you like better. Sometimes it's still a preference thing. The scratching part is a tip I learned from my Dad years ago and see others doing it as well. It helps the bond be stronger when even just one side of the parts being glued are smooth.
Hey! So I've watched other tutorials that use paper that says shrink. This is just vinyl sticker paper and it still holds up? I just noticed that and I want to make sure before I buy the wrong one lol
@@lildee_w6254 Clean with baby wipes or rubbing alcohol. But get a good quality baby wipe like Huggies. The store brand ones leave all kinds of lint on everything.
When using uv resin you need to clean it with alcohol when your done curing it. Dont ever use a food oven . Ahrink wrap may be okay. But anything that might give off a gas must have a non-food oven.
@@KaylasCricutCreations some people know and others dont. Loved the post. I looked then up and their a good price just wish I could get a smaller package.
No, you can’t use the UV resin to attach the pin backing- the UV light wouldn’t be able to penetrate to the resin- POSSIBLY if you were using the translucent shrink paper😊
Technically, you can. You just put the resin on the outside of the pin back. You can use regular craft glue under the back and resin over the top for extra hold.
Yep! I commented hoping she'll see it and if she doesn't change it she needs to at least comment on it because people are going to be buying the wrong stuff and making a great big mess. Luckily she did link the correct sheets but can you imagine trying to shrink this printable vinyl? 😮😂

You can use bezel tape to have your pins not move. I also use the 30cc soufflé cups upside down. Tape the materials to that and then move your resin to the edges that way. E6000 is going to be a better choice for gluing your backs! You won’t be able to light up the resin good enough!
I don't believe you can use a hair dryer :( I started googling it and it said heat guns have a narrow stream of air, while hair dryers have a wide stream. I haven't tried it though!
No, but you can use an actual heat gun... Not an embossing heat gun, a heat gun like you would use for linoleum. They aren't expensive but you have to make sure you're buying a true heat gun, not a crafting heat gun. Go to the tool section LOL.
Get some Let's Resin UV resin. It's really great stuff. E6000 comes unstuck if it gets too warm. I use Gorilla glue.
Thank you for the tips!! :)
Every time I used dimensional magic, the colors ran.
The UV resin I’ve used in the past yellowed very quickly. Is this a brand that doesn’t?

Seal with gel nail top coat. It is a uv resin and easier to maneuver. Yes, you can use resin to secure stuff to other things. Great video

me too... its magical

These are cute! And yes you could just use the resin to attach the backs, I'd recommend that over the E6000 as the UV resin will set so much faster.
Thank you so much for the advice!!! I will do that next time! :)
I agree. Lots of people are saying it can't be done with UV resin, but that's how I attach my pins with no issues.

What size clutch tie tacks did you use. They have a few different sizes.
Hi! Can I use Cricut Joy Extra to cut shrink paper?
Yes.
How did you get you registration marks to not blur? Mines keeps coming out blurry. I have an Ecotank 2720
If you hate the pesky white edges, just use a sharpie to cover the white with black before you shrink.
Hi, thanks for sharing. Not all UV resins are sticky after curing. I use baby wipes for the ones that are still sticky after 4/5 minutes of curing.

Hello, what is the name of this plastic, where can we find it?
Don't buy what she shows, buy what she actually has linked in the description, It's called printable shrink sheets.
What blade did you use?
I used just the regular fine point blade! :)
How come after I apply the resin and it’s not glossy at all? It looks dull 😢
You may have been handling it before it was fully cured. Otherwise, try a different brand/ uv light.
i use silicone brushes with uv resin.

No it’s just used as a protective layer essentially
