@Lucycat Playz She explains at 1:59. She made a real size ruler in Photoshop and printed it in shrink plastic then shrunk it :) Maybe you can google ‘print real size ruler’ and just print it on shrink plastic.
@Lucycat Playz You can try printing on regular paper and place the shrink plastic sheet on top of it then trace the ruler, cut it out, and shrink it. When tracing you can use an actual ruler to get straight lines :)
IDK if anyone needs to see this but, when using E6000 glue , I use a scrap plastic piece & pour out a big blob of the glue on to it , then use a ball tip tool to apply it to my earrings , So you don't have to go super fast & It's less messy c:
just wanted to thank you for this video, you're the ONLY one I could find that is not using resin to make a nice clear coat/seal and that stuff did NOT work for me and my daughter, too toxic. So thank you for this alternative I never knew about!
The ruler idea is so smart, thank you for sharing!! I want to try with printing pieces for earrings, but I’ll also try with the regular clear paper first (as soon as I figure out if I should use the frosted back and how to color them)!!
Thank you for this my daughter just got her ears pierced and while it will be a few months before we can switch her earring this will be a great project for the summer.
I didn't make a video but this was the first tutorial I watched on this, and I love it. Thank you so much for making this. I've been making earrings now. I use uv resin, but I also appreciate the ruler.
The embossing powder technique looks awesome and way faster than adding resin to each one at a time! Does it adhere pretty well? Or will the embossed layer pop off if the earring hits anything? Or if you squeeze it?
Hi, amazing video! Question, in here you just cut the images out with scissors, but in the video you also mentioned sometimes using your brothers cricut. On what base material do you set it, so it cuts all the way through? I have to cut it twice as it didn't go deep enough through the shrinking paper.
You can order it off Amazon. Just search Shrinky Dink. I've tried both the brand Shrinky Dinks and Grafix. Grafix, lately, seem to get better reviews, as some feel the Shrinky Dink brand ones have been reformulated. Don't bother with the clear inkjet. It's not truly clear and instead turns frosted after shrinking. There's a bit of a learning curve too, so don't expect perfection right at the bat and practice. Your heat settings, oven, technique . . . all these can affect the final result. However, that's not to make it seem troublesome. I still have fun experimenting. I even bought white Grafix sheets to pass out for kids for Halloween.
Ahh great tutorial it's so cool to see what techniques people use 😍 did you try uv resin for doming? Why do you prefer the embossing powder? Is the result just as clear and shiny as with uv resin?
You can! But if you're making tiny pieces like I do, they will probably blow around everywhere. I don't know a way to stop them from blowing around. An oven would be easier to work with for smaller pieces!
Hello great video tutorial! I love the embossing coat you use and I am very interested in using it. However, can you use this on regular shrink plastic material ? Additionally, can you use the embossing on sticker paper ? Thank you.
From watching this and handling resin myself I'd say yes the powder is better! Resin is much more toxic, requires further safety such as gloves & respirator and you'd need to put down the resin carefully and cure each one in smaller quantities depending on how big the UV lamp is (I have one that would fit maybe half the amount of earrings she made) if you're using shrink plastic you'll already be using an oven to make em shrink so may as well use the exact same method to protect them too!
There are embossing powder heat guns that doesn't blow air. It heats up the powder and melts it. You should be able to find them in the scrapbooking aisles of craft stores.
Which plastic do you use? I just tried graphix and it is awful. 90% of the time the ink crinkles and peels off during baking. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
Can you please do a video on how to know what size your image is before you print? This is the part that stumps me! I can't seem to find an actual size ruler in any of the programs I've tried!
I printed the designs onto the paper. They sell a few different brands of shrink paper like this. Make sure you only use it with an ink it jet printer!
If the recycling symbol on your plastic has a 6 in the middle of it you should be able to shrink it! It is the type of plastic that stuff like baked goods and sandwiches come in.
This was an awesome video. Maybe I can save someone some trouble though- the embossing powder caused my images to bleed. I used Sharpie on ShrinkyDinks brand plastic. I used the exact embossing pad and powder she used in the video. If anyone has any tips let me know!
Hello! Sorry about that! I actually just added it now, I thought I had added it already. If you have problems with it, let me know. It should work tho!
Actually did this and when I take the pieces out of the oven, first, it will get a sharp outline, like it was a saw, and second the colors will burn a little, also, I tried to make the colors more bright but it won't look as it should
Totally Unrelated but help is appreciated :3 :- So basically I watched some videos about shrink plastic and found out that the UV resin doming peels off easily if a layer of mod podge isn't added. Please let me know if you've had any problem like that. (Using colour pencils on a rough sided shrink plastic)
Dont need specific printer for this. A lot shrink paper are for inkjet printer. You can looking for: "Sticker paper for Inkjet printer" or "Shrink film paper for inkjet printer" and you will find that ;) !
Omg I love your video!! This is exactly how I want to do my RUclips video! How do you do it, what program do you use! I was told to make slinky dink art crafts and your video gave great information! Thank you! Btw love your back ground music!!
She mentioned in the beginning that its recycled shrink paper. I imagine it was just for the tutorial or she has awesome customers that are supportive of recycling materials. (recycled = used in another project)
Everything worked perfectly until I baked them with embossing powder, they started curling again and didn't flatten back out. There was no way to flatten them back out without smudging the powder! Anyone have recommendations?
I have some doubts about the process, I use the same material in my oven but it just twists and I don't see any state coming back, would you give me some advice?
@Luna MagnascoFarinas Thanks, I did some tests and I realized that I should not put it in baking mode, I should put it in broil mode and it helps me a lot more, since apparently portable ovens do not work in the same way
I dont know why but I'm the type of person who doesn't understand stuff right away but may explain the whole ruler thing and how it works? I'm confused. Sorry.
I bought all this same stuff, but after a few days my design started to bleed. What did I do wrong? 🥲 I thought the embossing powder method was supposed to not cause bleeding

That ruler trick saved me. Thank you for sharing your secrets!! Beautiful earrings :)

YOU MADE MY LIFE 10 MILLION TIMES EASIER TY TY *BOWS DOWN*** 😂❤😊😊
You are so smart printing a ruler to know what size they’ll end up when they shrink!
Brilliant idea with the ruler. Definitely going to do that. Thank you so much!!!❤
the embossing powder is super neat :o!!
omg that ruler idea is soo cool! I'll have to try and make one too so I don't have to guess sizes every time aha xD

this is such a cool video! you are very underrated
What brand is the oven you use? it looks very good
The monokuma onessss
You gave so many good tips this is my favorite video on shrink jewelry !! Would this work fine with a regular earring hook not stud
Yes! I have a few designs that are dangle shrink plastic in my Etsy shop. I have some gameboy, peach and strawberries as examples there.
Absolutely great work👍👍.

Would you recommend the scan n cut or a cricut if I can make an investment in either for business purposes?
do you use ink jet shrink film?
How lovely.
Can you share where you got your ink jet shrink paper?

Ahh great tutorial it's so cool to see what techniques people use 😍 did you try uv resin for doming? Why do you prefer the embossing powder? Is the result just as clear and shiny as with uv resin?
Karina Ryan tried embossing powder in the meantime and didn't like it, maybe for you it works though?
@@oicriativos9006 hi, how did the embossing powder work for you? I’m trying to see what’s the difference between the two.
What shrink paper are you using? Do you have. Link?
What shrink paper would you recommend?
Grafix Shrink paper white worked beautifully for this!
These are adorable! Thanks for a great video! Do you know how to make acrylic earrings? X
Any suggestions for programs for the art part?
Hello lovely lady, you are so informative and sweet! Can you link which ink jet shrink plastic you use?
Do you have a video on how to size it on the computer to print?
these look so cool, but when i did it the shrink plastic warped when i tried to melt the embossing powder. any tips?
Where did you buy the shrink plastic
Amazon has them
Great video
Thanks so much this is awesome!
Do u use the same oven for food?
Can you please share which ink u use? My printer’s ink doesn’t dry on the plastic material and overall looks bad
Try turning it over to the other side. You're printing on the wrong side.
hi, can i use heat gun for embossing powder? i don’t have an oven 😧
yes
You can! But if you're making tiny pieces like I do, they will probably blow around everywhere. I don't know a way to stop them from blowing around. An oven would be easier to work with for smaller pieces!

How do you add the glitter??
There is glitter embossing powder available in craft stores! They even have different colors of glitter too!
How long did u bake the shirk wrap and the powder ?
Can you bake these in the same oven you're baking your food in??
Yes ! you can bake them in your oven and the instructions are the same ^^
@@naomydrawson7491 how long do you bake them for?

A heat gun will probably blow all the powder off.
There are embossing powder heat guns that doesn't blow air. It heats up the powder and melts it. You should be able to find them in the scrapbooking aisles of craft stores.
I did use my embossing heat gun and it worked great. Its specifically for embossing.
Too cute ☺️ TY 👍🏼
what type of ink do you use?
Does the embossing powder method give you any issues when dealing with punched holes for findings?
Probably. Unless you move the power away from the hole before baking.
Wait lmao I just realized we have the same name
Hi! Thanks for the helpful video! What printer are you using and are all jet printers good for printing on shrink dinks?
Would the embossing powder work for larger designs??

I would like to know, how you avoid the sharp teeth, you know what I mean? And the colors to be way too saturated or dark
You have to make ur image brighter ... When u heat the image and it shrinka the colors become darker from squishing and from the heat!
What embossing powder and ink pad did you use? Or does brand not really matter?
Hi! May i know where did u buy the shrinking paper? Really wanna try it out! Thankyou!!
Amazon- shrinky dink

They also sell it at craft stores like Michael’s, hobby lobby. I got mine at Michaels for 5.99 and there’s 10 sheets in each pack

I have a ruler linked in my description! It's a ruler I made and its free!

I printed the designs onto the paper. They sell a few different brands of shrink paper like this. Make sure you only use it with an ink it jet printer!
how do you keep them from curling again in the oven? everytime I try to melt the powder, it also just curls up my design

UV resin and a curing torch / UV nail curer works for this too as an alternative (and don't need to go back into the oven).
Hi! How long do you leave the embossing powder baking for? (:
on the oven it shows the timer is set to 1 minute.
Can i use microwave to bake em? ☠️
No, the instructions on the shrink film package says you can't use a microwave.
You can use a heat gun instead.
