The only problem with this theme is that it would take me two seconds to run through the environment where it plays. Often I'd just stand in the middle of the forest doing nothing, just so I could listen to the music in its entirety. I suspect I'm not the only one that does this.
This is literally the greatest AND most accurate cover of ANY video game song I've EVER heard. All the little details that most people left out ... are left in. My mind is shattered. edit: ...k, I just realized your name is PoopPoopFart.
The SNES was an absolute beast for it's DSP & musical instrument reproduction. "Chorono Trigger" was ahead of its time - this song on the game made me truly appreciate that system all over again. Thank you.
jparecki95 Now now fellas, there's enough PoopPoopFart to go around for everyone. My left buttcheek is reserved for Smooth McGroove though, so that part is off limits.
PoopPoopFart Oh man, a collab with Smooth would be brilliant, especially if you did some sort of dueling banjos thing where you wnet back and forth doing parts of the song, and then maybe together at the end. I think I need to go change pants just thinking about it.
boozinwalsh Walsh mah boi, I must formally thank you for introducing me to this piece, as the first time I heard it was when I watched your excellent version many months ago. Watching your version also made me extremely jealous of your E-bow, which I've always wanted to buy, but I can't bring myself to spend $100 on something that I'd probably only use like one time.
Hey, thanks, buddy! I got that E-bow for pretty cheap so I'm not sure I'd advocate spending a hundred bucks on one, haha. I've used it in maybe three of my videos. It is handy to have around though.

It's so nice to see someone play a song on real instruments, there are so many videos that you have to go through now days where you have to hear someone's remix of a good song just to get some real instruments...
Real talk: When this came on in the background, I thought somehow a SNES emulator had spontaneously downloaded itself along with a Chrono Trigger ROM and started up somewhere in one of the forest areas. Absolutely perfect.
People have already said it but this truly is the definitive cover of this song. The creative choice to make the harp arpeggio less reverbed really adds an extra layer of mystery to the song. The percussion is gentle and subtle but clearly those unique instruments were carefully chosen. Finally, the organic bass playing adds so much mood that MIDI instruments can't quite capture. Honestly, I hope Yasinori Matsuda has heard this.
This song takes me back to a moment when being an adult was the last thing I cared for. So many memories... I'd wish I'd have the time to sit and play this beautiful game once more.
I remember stop playing just to lay on the ground, raising the tv volume, closing my eyes and then, by some kind of magic, seeing myself in that forest...
1:45 I will sample this in a beat someday, and it will be heard by millions of people. That Riff is one of the coolest I've heard in ANY video game. Just a dream, but one I plan on going through with. This is an absolutely gorgeous cover. Sounds better than the original ♥ Just as they imagined it. BEAUTIFUL!
This is by far one of if not THE most amazing cover of this song I've heard, another song you've done AMAZING justice to. It's absolutely amazing, even before I was 1 minute into listening I was entranced. Not only that but how you set up the lighting and overall feel of the editing in the video really added to it, really set the mood for me.
Hello! I was brought here by a Brazilian channel called Meteoro Brasil, which talks politics, culture and games. They absolutely engage us on listening to your content here and appreciating your work! Even for someone with VERY LITTLE gaming past, it sounds nostalgic! Congratulations for building this great collection.
Also, since some nerds here are likely to know: I've discovered easily that Noriko Matsueda's contribution to CT was the first boss theme, but I've had no luck at all finding out which tracks (supposedly ten in total) Uematsu wrote after Mitsuda became too ill to work. Does anyone know? Some guys might have even been able to distinguish his tunes by familiarity with his style, I dunno. EDIT - Answered here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Chrono_Trigger
A lot of people say 1:44 is their favorite part and I can see why. Personally 1:20 is my favorite part (beautifully contrasted with the 1:44 section though). The emotional intensity of the song, and the surreal chords played on the second of every four measures in this part*, are two specific reasons I love this so much *count 1-16 on the downbeats and pay attention to 5, 6, 7, 8
I can’t believe I’ve only now seen this despite how often I do searches for CT music, as it’s probably my favourite game. The other commenters talking about the algorithm are definitely right. Anyway anyway, dude this is amazing! I can’t believe you played all of this yourself, and it sounds just like the original yet a little better tbh. Just amazing. This is one of most favourite tracks in the game and holds a lot of nostalgia for me so I had to fight back tears watching this. You are so talented. Thank you for this! 🖤
I love this track. Whenever I played Chrono Trigger years ago, I would go to Guardia Forest and literally put the controller down and just let the song play.
What I love the most about your videos and your music is your creative vision. You don't do anything flashy and for the most part stay true to the feeling of original piece, but you're not just a midi file ya know? You interpret the piece in such a unique and creative way in instrumentation and it makes the music fresh and alive. Thanks for making such cool music dude!
You captured the perfect balance again -- Mitsuda would be proud to hear it. And I've always wondered how someone could make that "owl hoot" sound with natural instruments. Too cool.

A breathtakingly beautiful song performed magnificently. Great instrumentation with the melodica too.
Came from twitter, stayed for the awesome music.
vinesauce Hey, thanks man!
vinesauce This makes me want a melodica. I can play ocarina pretty well, but man, I have no money for instruments I want to learn to play.
