Thank you so much for this video. It's the first one I've seen that explained how to TEST the heating element. I thought maybe it was a fuse but after watching your video I think it's the element itself. I have the exact same setup on the back of my dryer. When I tried to test continuity on the element I received not resistance just like your video.
Good stuff as always. Love these shorter videos that show how to do things like this. I think one like this is how I found you and I bet many others have found you through the same way. Keep up the good work.
Thank u Pro!, my issue wznt the element...but I did a visual check anyways, it wz 1 of the 3 cord wires, wz unfastened...so after refastening, the dryer began to apply heat, so u Did teach me what to checc, n 4 that,...I Thnk U..👊🏽😎💯
Good shit! I love these calls for dryers. I'm a pro with an electric dryer and troubleshooting. It's so easy! Never had to work on a gas dryer or anything not electric...
I have this same exact dryer and just ran a dryer vent brush through my vent and hit a block that wouldn't allow me to exit through outside, but I did it both ways and vacuumed out and when I turned it back on, I smelled a burn smell and my dryer inside was super hot. Do you have a video for trouble shooting this or any advice on if it's just the heating element? Could it be the thermal fuse? Or could it be lint burning out? I'm nervous to continue to try running it and am trying to avoid another service call since we just had to buy a new central AC unit and it wasn't cheap.
Great Video but I have a question: Since the heating element was broken essentially creating an open circuit, did the dryer in this case not heat up at all? I ask this because my dryer keeps my clothes damped and this is after I cleaned out the vents and so it is heating up but not enough.
My heating element is at the lower back but accessed through a panel on the front. Manual says to pull down and out after unscrewing but it's catching on something. My manual also says thermostat and fuse should read 0 ohms cold. I pulled them and both read 0 ohms.
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro its an old speedqueen aem697w. I may have broke a porcelain standoff on one coil but i got it out. The thermostat and fuse read 0 ohms, the coil panel resistance was in spec too. I found a spdt thermostat for the air blower in the manual. Says to test 2 leads while heated, should hear a click. I couldn't handle the probes and lighter at the same time but couldn't get it to click when heated. Ordered a new part. Also replacing some of the spare terminals and wire nuts because the previous owners were hacks.
That is how it is done. No bullshit, no dumb music etc. You could teach a class on how to make a RUclips repair video. Extremely well done. Thanks
This was just as much a lesson on how to shoot an effective RUclips repair video as it was about fixing the dryer. GREAT JOB!
Thank you. This was the perfect video.
Brief explanation.
Quick showcase.
Actually used a machine that needed repair.
Love it!
Thank you for your video. You helped save us a few hundred dollars and also made me look like a hero in my wife’s eyes. Thanks brother.
Just changed out mine! $70 between the multimeter and spare parts compared to buying a new dryer for 500+. Thanks so much!
Nice work! Glad you got it fixed 😎
Simple bidennomics 😂😂. Same dryer now is 550 compared to 250. I like simple though! Do boards or digital crap.
Appreciate your right to the point video. No BS. No introduction no music. Ty

Absolutely spot on! Top rear coil was snapped. Came apart and back together just as you showed. Thanks, great job.
Thanks for the short and sweet info! Helped me immensely.

Thanks Evan always appreciate the support 👍
I just changed mine. $23 for the replacement part and 15-20 mins! Thx!
I just wish every how-to video were this concise.
I agree! I’m currently mustering up the courage to replace mine!
Thank you for the awesome video you made! You are an amazing repair man!! Keep up the excellent job you are doing!
Thanks, will do!

Right on Benjamin! The newer ones throw me off sometimes but these older ones are pretty simple :)
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro most definitely
Love watching your videos. They help me out so much at work. Keep it up!
Thanks Mike V, really appreciate that!
Thank you for getting straight to the point! 👍🏽
Strait up no BS video thank you brother.
You bet 👍
Wow, actually a simple fix. Appreciate it!
Perfect! Saved 300$. Thank you sir
One quick question…what did you set your Voltmeter to? The infinity symbol? Thanks!
I had a dryer that I kept winding the broken elements back together. I had to do it 3 or 4 times over 10 years.
well made video. thanks for sharing!

If an element is broken it won't heat up at all. Some dryers may have more than one element.
My heating element didn't look like it had a break in it but it doesn't get hot like this one on the video.
Might be the thermal fuse blown. Test your themal fuse, thermostat, and thermal limit resistor.
Perfect
Thank you!!
Right to the point. Thanks.
You're welcome!
So is the heating element same as other dryers?
Do all whirlpool dryers use the same element or does it depend on make and model?
Some are the same but most are not

Without a model # I have no idea about disassembly of the heater - your fuse should always read 0, if it opens, it failed and will read OL

Was disconnecting/ shutting off the gas omitted for time?
No gas, electric
Thank you for this video.
Is it ok to soder the broken heating element or would that be dumb?
It wouldnt last, might burn your house down too
I am Looking for referenced link for replacement parts.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🍻
I wish there was instruction regarding the wiring.
There's schematic inside machine. Also take pictures, and match what you have. It just looks scary
you are the man.
I can't remove the plugs from the heating element, they are all stuck
Thnx 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾!
