Brilliant. You get to the point unlike other RUclipsrs who spent 30 minutes talking about themselves, promoting something or both. You saved me a lot of time and money thank you.
I agree--this is great. The RUclips "gurus" tell content creators like me to do all of this self-promo BS, but I think those of us in the fix-it, tools content areas do better just getting right to the point. Nobody got time for that! Thanks for the video, Steve!
I just purchased a heating element for my whirlpool dryer. The part was the delivered the next day. I must say after watching your video the repair process was a success. I'm a single woman and I did it! Total cost was less than $60. Thank you so much
I cannot express how easy you made this, describing each step. the testing, then the replacement - this video helped me to replace my heating element in 10 minutes. I do have a different model, but the mechanics of it were very similar. THANK YOU!!!!
Whew you made it so easy. I just did our Whirlpool dryer that is not heating up. I watched this first and along the way to replacing the heating element and after 30 minutes our dryer is in full use. Thank you Sir for saving us money.
I have had to use this video twice and it was effective both times. Straight to the point with clear, concise instructions on how to replace the heating element. It may be a decade year old now (as of 7/3/2021), but I will still come back to it if I need it again. Thank you!
OK, I am just blown away (in a very good way) by your tutorials, and parts replacement service. I have used your tutorials before, but purchased the part locally. This time, I purchased the part thru Partselect.. I ordered the part yesterday at 2:29 and had the part delivered to my home and installed before 2:29 today!! Also, you responded to my issue regarding a different configuration. I don't typically write reviews, but in your case, I am. EXCELLENT service and tutorials! Thank you!
Firstly, this video is AMAZING!!my dryer wasn’t heating anymore and I googled found this video and ordered the parts, I literally changed out 5 parts on the back of my dryer by clicking on a few of his other videos. This video is easy to follow and my dryer is fixed and actually is getting hotter then it was before and now takes 1 time full cycle to dry a full load compared to before it took us turning on 2-3 more times.
This video did not give me stress I understood everything. You were direct to the point with out added useless information on your personal life or the history of dryers.
THIS video saved my pockets a good $600. My boyfriend wanted to get rid of a dryer that is 3 years old because of a power surge. Well, after changing the thermostat, heating element and thermal fuse, my dryer works like brand new!!! Thanks much!!!
Thanks for the information. It looks so easy, I think I'll have my wife replace it for me. Repairs go better when you use your Snap-On ratcheting screw driver too. 👍🏻 Great video, short yet informative & to the point. You were spot on & spoke clearly. No animals or music to distract from the repair. Your knowledge & your time are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Your videos are always great. I replaced a thermostat last year with your help and this year you helped me be sure I had put the wires back in the right place when replacing the heating element as I foolishly pulled everything out in an angry rush without paying proper attention. Go me! But I remembered your videos and thanks to this one I got everything in the right places. Thank you very much!
Your video was very easy to understand & did not wander off-topic like other videos I’ve seen on RUclips. I was able to fix my dryer after watching your video! Thanks!
i just wanted to thank you for this video. this is by far one of the best how to videos I've ever come across, great pace , soothing and clear narrative, and the low background music was also a fantastic touch . my husband works out of town majority of time and he usually does all the fixings ,but thanks to this video not only am I going to save us $200 (repair man fee) but I'm going to save my husband the hassle so he can relax . I hope all goes well , thanks again
Subscribed after watching. Got straight to the nitty gritty and no filler, simple yet concise step by step breakdown and explanation and to the point, helped me tremendously, thank you!
That really was easy to do! I'm a merchant marine and we have industrial size dryers which are a huge pain to replace. Wish they were all as easy as this. Thanks!
Ordered parts from PartSelect! Replaced the heating elements and thermal Fuse in no time. Drying running again like new. Your videos helped a lot. I was just surprised when the credit card I used for the purchase showed "FOREIGN FINANCIAL CHARGE" for the ordered parts. All along I thought the purchase was in the US. The amount was not much, not that of a big deal.
Your video helped SO MUCH! I repaired my dryer today (which made a lot of people 'eat their words' because I am a young female) and it works great :) thanks again!!!
Thank you! Removing the thermostat wasn't entirely clear from this video, so thanks for having a separate video for replacing that, making this project a snap. My wife is very surprised I was able to do this.
Just successfully replaced the element in my dryer. Your video was great: simple, easy-to-follow. Bought the new element from an outlet, plus a 1/4" nut driver for ~ $40 total. So I did not have to buy a new $400 / $500 dryer ... Thanks again.
Thank you for this great video. Watched it before to repair my dryer with success. Wish to add that my unit did not have the door compartment (2:26) for the heater element that required to be replaced. Instead the entire element housing and vertical (grandfather clock style) cabinet was friction fit inside the dryer and was resting on 2 x fangs at the bottom. After bending a bit the topside compression clip, the entire assembly was in my hands. Then removed a screw at the bottom of this cage and could then access the defective element. Recently noted that the dryer is taking 2-3x longer to heat yet have ample heat and air flow. Almost burnt my hands touching the back dryer wall. That was a hint. Took it apart and found the heater element cage fell out of its tracks was leaning against the lint cage. That is, could see my wet clothes through the hot air hole that was now visible. Just fixed it again - secret is to be 100% sure that the TOP compression clip is locked into the slot on the heater element cage. Now I think I can hang off the unit and it should not move. If you do not do this, the cage will come off its 2 fangs at the bottom and will fail to dry your clothes. Thanks for your videos - learning a great deal.
Great video! You were able to help me with my repair. The instructions I received via the replacement part were horrible. Watching this video assisted me with everything I needed to know. You saved me a lot of money and I thank you very much!
turns out after i tested the element it was good, i then moved on and tested the thermostat switch just above the element. it indeed was blown. replaced both upper and lower thermostat parts "i forgot the actual names of the parts" but success! works perfect and i made sure to clean everything up check the exhaust line etc..your video made this possible!
Great repair video. Clean, clear and straight to the point. Is there another video associated with this one, that describes how to determine when the heating element does not work?
Man whata life saver. I was about to go out and buy a whole new washer and dryer set! I hate fixing things but this just seems so easy. Thanks a billion!
Great video! Repaired my dryer easily, One caveat though: be careful where you grip the back panel when removing it or putting it back on! Being a smaller person, when I was putting the metal back panel on I reached down to lift it up and instead of lifting it from the bottom, I put my hand onto the vents cut into the back. I didn't realize it was unfinished metal and it was razor sharp! Sliced three fingers badly (lots of blood). Be careful and stay away from those vents!
Thanks, mine is slightly different, so you disconnect the terminals and leave the thermostat attached until afterwards, then disconnect and install to the new one. Otherwise it's pretty 1 to 1. Thank you for the visual assist! Helped a ton.
Thanks for posting!! My elements went out yesterday and up and running again tonight! I will keep u guys in mind if I need to buy parts again!!! YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!
Thanks for do this video. Well first part of this week the dryer heating element went out. I looked back when we last replace the heating element. It was back on Feb. 2010. I had a guy come out and replace the element. The Guinco tech charged me $294.71. This time I looked on youtube saw a how to video and repaired the part I purchased off eBay for $17.95 made in the USA and tax fee with Free priority shipping. The dryer we purchased when we moved to Cedar Hill in 2000. Savings $276.76!
Awesome video!!! Im definitely cancelling my appointment for repair man to come out and replace the heating element on my dryer! Now I have 80$ back in my pocket.
This helped me so much! We have two great service folks in our town but its a college town and they have so many apartments to tend to that they don't have time. I've never been so glad to feel hot air blowing! Well done and thank you!
Excellent video. Just did this repair; only small difference was that my high limit thermostat has a bridge connector of some sort from the lower connector over to the far side terminal connector. So that was a little tricky to remove, I was afraid of bending or breaking the terminal connection trying to remove the little bridge connector. Took me a minute to figure out that it was best to disconnect the connector from the dryer to the front terminal connection, then take the heating element off WITH the thermostat still attached before trying to disconnect (and then reconnect) everything else. Perfect results and as a bonus I got all the dust bunnies and stink bugs inside the dryer housing with my shop vac before I put the cover back on.
Thank you for the compliment and for sharing your repair experience, glad your dryer is working and more importantly, dust free. We love hearing from DIY'ers like yourself who have repaired their home appliances and let me be the first to welcome you to the world of do-it-yourself repair.
TIP: Do your best to not touch the heating filaments. The oils on your hands will cause the filaments where you touched it to burn out more quickly. The heating element will last much longer if you can avoid touching any filaments.
Was very helpful However my limit switch had one screw and is attached by connectors to the white insulator at the bottom.I also took time to remove a clean all the switches and the blower duct was completely packed with lint and dirt so I cleaned that too. glad i did ..
Our heating element went out and hubby repaired it and up and running in 30 minutes. Just clamped a clip of dome sort around the broken ends he said. Now its working again, cost zero dollars
Hi Katreena! Sorry to hear about this problem with your dryer. Let's see what we can do then. Where are the wires that are fried? I'll need you to provide the model number on your dryer so I can better help you troubleshoot. Is the cycle of the dryer working normally, other than the fact that it's overheating? Is it making any unusual noises?
This video was very helpful, thank you. I tested my thermostats and they are fine. It's the heating terminals (white part) that appear to be bad. Does that mean the whole heating element needs to be changed? It seems like the white terminals are not removable from the housing. I have a Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II dryer. Thank you for any advice you can offer.
great video.... My heating element was fine but the air duct behind the dryer has a hole in it.. We have to dry the clothes twice more time than we usually have to. Could that be the issue?
I thought the demonstration was very good and i LOVED the Gentle guitar in the background such a nice touch makes me want to play guitar for demo videos, peace out.
Hi Steve. Any tips on testing the high limit thermostat and belts for my Inglis dryer. No power. Not the breaker and I changed the thermal fuse this morning with no luck. Thanks for any help you can provide. Love the videos!
Any video or advice to change the element in a one piece stack? Ours doesn’t have the separate bottom. We got it off and element in but can’t get the hidden screw back in because of the spring load of the element.
I've visually confirmed that the heating element has a short (no multimeter needed!) and am about to order a replacement. Is it common for the Hi-limit thermostat and/or thermal cut-off to short out at around the same time as the heating element? Should I replace those parts at the same time as the element? We've had this dryer for at least 10 years and haven't had to replace any of the aforementioned parts before, so I'm wondering if the failure of the heating element is a sign that the others will soon follow.
Great Video! You make it seem so easy and judging from the comments it is very easy to replace the heating element. I have a Whirlpool Model number LEQ8858HQ1, can you tell me if replacing the heating element in that type of dryer is similar to the model you replaced in the video? Thanks
Thank you for the compliment about our videos. Yes, the above video is very similar to your whirlpool dryer. I did a search on our site using the model number you provided and the above heating element/procedure is designed to work in your dryer. Hope that information helps and if you need any additional help then kindly let us know.
Hello again Steve! I've chosen you as my go to guy for simple home appliance repairs and/or questions. Today I have a question and hopefully you can answer my question. I have a GE electric dryer model #DHDVH66EH3BB that worked perfectly fine before a transformer in my neighborhood blew up. We were without electricity for a little over 24 hours, not sure why it took so long to rectify the problem. A couple of days later we discovered the dryer would not turn on at all. Do you have any suggestions as to whether or not the outtage caused this problem? We've experienced outtages before and never had a problem. Checked the breaker switch, it was still in the on position, not tripped. I shut it off and back on as an attempt to reset. Beyond that I'm clueless. As a precaution or preemptive measure I thought I'd get suggestions before calling a repairman. Thank you in advance!
thanks for the video. I replaced the heating element and the thermal fuse but I'm still not getting heat. it will be hot maybe every 8 times a start the dryer. what else could be going on?
That's tricky for sure, sounds like a loose connection, It may even be from outside the dryer, Be great to be able to confirm your house power supply is ok. If you have older screw in type fuses, check the the back of the fuses to see if one is pitted or arced. If power is ok It could be your timer or one of the thermostat, cycling or hi limit on the heater box.
Mine went out yesterday. It doesn’t dry anymore. Some friends mention it was the heater element. This is a old dryer. Don’t lnow where to look for the part. Any suggestions ?
How would I know if it's the heating element or the timer? One thing... I tilted the machine forward and let it drop 6 inches twice and the heat started working again... What do you think is causing that?
Kinda like yourself.

Thank you. I watched too many videos on how to replace a heating element, yours is the one that helped.
Great repair video. Clean, clear and straight to the point. Is there another video associated with this one, that describes how to determine when the heating element does not work?
Thank you for all your help that was very simple and easy to do now I won't have to pay a fortune to have somebody do it

Thanks used this video to repair my whirlpool dryer.
I subscribe to your channel I like how you get to the point and get it a very calm Manner Thank you for posting this video
Our heating element went out and hubby repaired it and up and running in 30 minutes. Just clamped a clip of dome sort around the broken ends he said. Now its working again, cost zero dollars
What type of clip ? Also, what caused the ends to break ?
Hi Katreena! Sorry to hear about this problem with your dryer. Let's see what we can do then. Where are the wires that are fried? I'll need you to provide the model number on your dryer so I can better help you troubleshoot. Is the cycle of the dryer working normally, other than the fact that it's overheating? Thanks sooo much. This video was a BIG help..You saved me the repair man costs.
Once again Thanks.
Excellent Video! Easy except the thermostat was a little different...no screws. I figured it out!
Gracias a sus videos repare mi lavadora..
Great video, was able to do my own repair and saved a fortune...
Okay getting ready to try this myself after watching this video. Wish me luck.
john K Good luck!! Hope your repair was successful!
Thank you! Extremely helpful!
It worked. Main problem was the outlet hose was shoved full of lent. Still replaced the heating element works like a champ.
You made this so simple for me!
Thanks for the visual help! Great video.
This guy is pretty good! Helped me out!
Thank you made fixing my dryer super easy
U know I was able to do it fairly quickly, I'm very proud of myself. The video was very helpful, thank u.
Thanks a million, our dryer is good to go now!
Thanks didnt realize how simple that was
great video.... My heating element was fine but the air duct behind the dryer has a hole in it.. We have to dry the clothes twice more time than we usually have to. Could that be the issue?

Thank you! I was able to replace mine with your help.
Did that a while back...
Thanks! Good video. Repair took about 1/2 hour for a rookie (me).
Nice work Benjamin!
EXCELLENT video sir. Thank You !!
#Give thanks. Thank you. You saved me some time and money and scrapped knuckles. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Very helpful and confidence-improving video.

Hi Steve. Any tips on testing the high limit thermostat and belts for my Inglis dryer. No power. Not the breaker and I changed the thermal fuse this morning with no luck. Thanks for any help you can provide. Love the videos!
Thank you i'm going to attempt this repair on mine
Any video or advice to change the element in a one piece stack? Ours doesn’t have the separate bottom. We got it off and element in but can’t get the hidden screw back in because of the spring load of the element.
Outstanding video, really helpful.
Thank you for the compliment!
Thank you for this video!
Terrific video. Thanks for putting it together.
I've visually confirmed that the heating element has a short (no multimeter needed!) and am about to order a replacement. Is it common for the Hi-limit thermostat and/or thermal cut-off to short out at around the same time as the heating element? Should I replace those parts at the same time as the element? We've had this dryer for at least 10 years and haven't had to replace any of the aforementioned parts before, so I'm wondering if the failure of the heating element is a sign that the others will soon follow.
niederhau The high limit thermostat and thermal fuse would only give you a problem if the exhaust venting was not clear or excessive in length.
Great video Steve.😀
Great Video! You make it seem so easy and judging from the comments it is very easy to replace the heating element. I have a Whirlpool Model number LEQ8858HQ1, can you tell me if replacing the heating element in that type of dryer is similar to the model you replaced in the video? Thanks

I've replaced the thermostats, and fuse....still no heat so now I'm gonna replace the element . How do I check to see if it's bad ??
great, just what i needed to know
Fantastic video!!!
Mine went out yesterday. It doesn’t dry anymore. Some friends mention it was the heater element. This is a old dryer. Don’t lnow where to look for the part. Any suggestions ?
Great Video . Thank you so much....
How would I know if it's the heating element or the timer? One thing... I tilted the machine forward and let it drop 6 inches twice and the heat started working again... What do you think is causing that?
