    WOW... thank you for such detailed instructions. As a single woman on Social Security I have to really minimize my spending to make $$ stretch. I was able to buy the replacement heating element for $20 on Amazon and thanks to this video I replaced it myself saving a lot of money. Also the fact that you showed how to removed the thermostat that was not screwed in was a big help.

I knew what the element was looking like and I easily put it out. I went to a used pieces store and bought a piece for 40$ , I put it in place and it worked!!!! I am very proud of myself. It smelled burnt at the beginning but the guy said that it was normal because of the dust on the element. But now it's ok. So thank you so much again for this video.

      A few other nonfunctional parts could cause no heat, such as the thermal fuse, thermal cut off kit, cycling thermostat, hi-limit thermostat. Many of these parts can be tested with a multimeter before you go through the trouble of replacing them. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. We offer free technical advice and diagnosis help, so we'll talk you through the parts you need to test.

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  6 лет назад

      No, it shouldn't take any time to break in. There might be a weird smell from a new element the first time or two it's used, but it should come on. There may be a problem with the new element, or maybe something happened during installation. Give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/ and we'll help you figure it out.

    Could this be the issue if the dryer won't cool down? Meaning it always blows out hot air regardless of the temp setting and even comes out hot on the "no heat" setting. Our dryer has been doing this for a while and at the end of a cycle the clothes are burning hot as well as the whole unit outside- feels hot. The timer works fine. We have a 3 yr old electric Whirlpool dryer. I think I read somewhere that sometimes the heating element can be shorted to ground? Whatever that means, lol. Your help is much appreciated!

    • @appliancepartspros
      @appliancepartspros  8 лет назад

      +Diana Fisher It could be the element or maybe a thermostat. You can take the wires off the element and test it for continuity. If it is shorted to ground or failed you will not have continuity. If it is shorted to ground you may see the element is broken and is touching the element casing. Without knowing what you have, I would suggest posting the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem. forum.appliancepartspros.com/

    DO NOT RECONNECT YOUR 220V POWER CORD TO THE BACK OF THE DRYER THIS WAY!!!! IT IS A FIRE HAZARD!!!! ALWAYS USE THE RELIEF CLAMP TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NOT METAL RUBBING THE POWER CORD. OVER TIME DRYER WILL SHAKE AND RUB THROUGH THE WIRE CASING AND CAUSE A SHORT. The hole right under that panel is where the power cord is supposed to feed through.

    Good video, I only watched the first half. One suggestion: always prefer power tools over hand tools. If it is possible to use a power tool, use it. In this case a power screwdriver could have been used, much better and faster than the hand tool. I have found that even small increases of efficiency make a big difference in getting jobs done.

    I have an older model Kenmore elite (whirlpool version) electric dryer. Model is WP3387747 . I bought the heating element but every dryer video I watch shows a separate aluminum panel on the back that comes off easily. My model is white all the way around. After removing all the screws on the back the panel won't budge as if it is spot welded on. There is absolutely no give at all. Any ideas on how to get the back off on one like this?
