- Had to re-upload the video due to low sound levels sorry!!
Now we know what the controls on a synth do, its time to start making your first sound! This time we're making a very basic pad sound, a great starting place for a beginner.
Hi everyone I had to re-upload yesterday's video as it the sound had turned out really low in volume. RUclips no longer have a way of me editing it without removing and re-uploading. Sorry!
Synth Tips and Tricks Thanks for fixing it, was a great video but I could hardly hear it. Please continue this series, your 4 parter was the best explanation of the components of a synthesiser I have seen, and I watched quite a lot of different ones.
@@ConfusedNDazed Thanks very much! I have plans for a few ore videos so keep an eye out!
@@Fonkemman Yeah I know its still not loud enough, I'm going to record the video, I had some real technical issues making this one. I will upload a replacement along with a new video soon!
Can you make a video on how to make a sine wave
it is still quit low on volume!
You taught me the basics of synthesis so I was thrilled to see that you had uploaded more tutorials!
We need more!!! I love these!!🙌🏾
Hey there. I'm an experienced musician who is just now learning synthesis. I've found a bunch of RUclips videos and so far yours have been the most useful to me, the right combination of theory and practicality. So thank you! Also, the volume on this one is still very low for some reason.
Please keep uploading videos!!! You actually teach
Finally learned what attack and release are. Thank you!
Your explanations are very clear! Waiting for more videos :) btw I’m using System-1 and it’s my first synth so I’m very interested in more
Thanks for uploading a video again. It has been so long since the last time.
My System-1 got stolen last year unfortunately, I've only recently got it back, so hoping to get back into it more now.
The chords were from Giorgio Moroder's/Limahl's "Never ending story".
Awesome tutorials, can't wait to see more!
Very helpful thanks. And no showing off or “comedy” like usually feature on any music instrument video!
Please do more videos, your tutorials are the best on RUclips
What a clear explaination, thank you!
Excellent execution.
So my band and I want to use synths and swells like Deftones. What would be a good synth pad to invest in?
Hi Ethan, I think you could use the System-1 for this, but the only issues you might run in to would be polyphony. The system-1 can only play 4 notes, so if you like long held chords you might get note stealing (sounds like the chord just cuts off when you change notes). You could look at something like the JD-Xi, which has more polyphony, that could be a better choice for similar money (but it has small keys).
I'll look more into it. I appreciate man!! Alot of research saved!
hi! can you loop a melody? and play another at the same time?
I love this stuff pls how do I buy it
I actually learned something from this video. Thanks for the insight
I've been trying to use Soundation's VA Synth and simple synth but they don't work the same way? Is that just because Soundation is rubbish or something?
I get extremely nervous just by looking at the huge amount of buttons on that keyboard.
What synth did you use in this video
He used a Roland System 1.
Could you show us how to make a piano?
I’ve been looking at synthesisers - Korg minilogue, korg monologue and Korg microkorg - which one of these or if another makes a great soft synth pad sounds?
Would I need other components as well
Callum Dawson the korg minilogue has been great for lofi/synth wave/bedroom pop for me
This video is nice but using the supersaw setting which most synths do not have was a shame.
You did explain what it does so we can recreate it using unison I guess?
Still thanks man!
If your synth doesn't have a supersaw (or equivalent) then you could use either a unison effect, or just use two regular saw waves and slightly detune one of them to create a thicker sound. You can also apply a chorus effect (which the system-1 doesn't have) which are also really great at creating the width needed for a pad sound. Basically, use whatever you have! All synths are different and have different features and effects, so using whatever features are available to you can help you create a sound that is more uniquely yours. Thanks for watching!
@@synthtipsandtricks522 I appreciate you commenting on my reaction. Makes this video even more generous!
Perfect, but i like with old skool rave.
I would like to see more of these "how to make X sound"
Hey, I've got a simple problem for you.
Let's say I'm a 16 year old boy, with 300 dollars of chore money, and a need for a synth. I'm not really sure where to begin. I'm sure I'll figure out how to use a synth or a setup if I'll afford one, but I wanna know how to hook one up and deal with the technical stuff.
I don't have a computer, and I have a lot of USBs, so charging battery powered keyboards isn't an issue. The issue is mostly price and technicality. What analog keyboard do you suggest? Should I buy any extra components with the leftover money to amplify the sound or hook it up into a speaker of some sort? I'm very confused, and money is tight.
get a JD-Xi roland :)
Thank you so much for this!
nice
I want one!!
Awesome vid.
Thankyou Sir
For a moment there it sounds a bit like "Beloved" by VNV Nation.
You mean Sim Ronan. Obviously.
