My finished synth wave track - "VANGUARD." [Audio only]
Просмотров 9163 года назад
Time to share some actual music!! In a recent video I took part in the Roland Fantom 444x challenge and worked on an idea for a synthwave track, and I really enjoyed it so I decided to make it into a full track and add this basic visualiser. I had so much fun making this and really embracing the over the top 80's sounds you can create in the Synthwave genre. All the sounds in this track were ma...
Roland 444x Challenge: Create a song in 4 minutes, with 4 chords, using 4 Model Expansions
Просмотров 9 тыс.3 года назад
Challenge accepted! I was challenged to take part in the Roland #444xChallenge to create a song in 4 minutes, with 4 chords and using the 4 Model Expansion of classic synths added in the Fantom 2.1 update: Jupiter-8, Juno-106, JX-8P and SH-101. I decided to go for a synth wave style track as its a really fun genre. I ran out of time just as I selected the lead tone so maybe I've failed! Now I c...

In this video we look at what Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is on synth, and how we can use that to make some huge bass sounds. For this video I'm using a Roland JU-06A Boutique, but most synths should have some option for PWM so you can try it for yourself!

Roland RE-201 Space Echo Vs Boss RE-20 Space Echo
Просмотров 5 тыс.7 лет назад
I was very fortunate recently to very quickly compare a vintage RE-201 against its modern Boss compact form. None of these items belong to me unfortunately! I'm running a System-8 sequencer into both on the same settings. Now to be fair, the tape in the RE-201 has not been changed for a long time, the motor is a little bit inconsistent, and some of the dials need recalibrating, so on certain se...

    Just a suggestion, but since this seems like a beginner's guide, a short glossary of the main controls and what they are doing to the sound also in terms of the waveform would be great. Also, is running the sequencer in this case the same thing as pressing the keys on the keyboard manually one after the other?

    This is one of those tutorials that merits multiple views. Thanks for doing this. I like the approach of recreating patches as a learning method. Stemming from that thought, how about recreating entire songs as a learning method? Imagine how much one could learn from doing that

    That LFO pitch modulation at high speeds is very useful and it is what makes difference between a lot of lead sounds. Wobbly, buzzer, or noise modulated supersaw, and so on.

    Can you make a techno Hoover on this device?

    • @synthtipsandtricks522
      @synthtipsandtricks522 2 года назад

      No you can't make that kind of sound on the JU-06A, you need a synth with a pitch envelope, and the JU-06A doesn't have one unfortunately.

    • @TheWoodenZozimos
      @TheWoodenZozimos 2 года назад

      @@synthtipsandtricks522 But it has pulse width modulation yes? Couldn’t you at least approximate a Hoover by putting PWM on a saw with sub?

    • @synthtipsandtricks522
      @synthtipsandtricks522 2 года назад

      @@TheWoodenZozimos You could create the main part sound in that way, but the sound got the name 'hoover' because of the way it sweeps in, and without a pitch envelope this isn't possible to recreate in the same way.

    • @TheWoodenZozimos
      @TheWoodenZozimos 2 года назад

      @@synthtipsandtricks522 ahhhh I understand - thank you for the insight! I think a half-hoover is good enough for the gabber I wanna make, especially if I can fake the envelope with a keyboard pitch wheel
