    Excellent review. It's funny that one of the things you don't like is something I LOVE about this sort of camera. The menu system displaying in the viewfinder means I don't have to put on my reading glasses when I want to adjust a setting or look at an image. Just use the viewfinder with it's built in dioper.

    Just took delivery of my X100F today! First Fuji after owning several Canon bodies over the past 10 years. Size and weight make this camera perfect but thumb placement is a bit awkward. I can agree 100% to everything you have listed, both pro and con.
    I really couldn't believe the difference in image quality compared to the Canons (even with good glass)! X-T2 is next on the list.
    Great video!

      Andrew Duval Thank you Andrew and congratulations on your x100f purchase! The XT-2 is up there on my list also!

    What do you think of the X100F as an only camera because on my canon, I only use a range of lens from 24-50 which can be covered by the Fuji teleconverters.

  • @philipzwick

    Love the camera, especially as four out of five of your nits are not issues for me. I got a charger with extra batteries, which I always buy anyway, so the one with the long cord stays at home. My grip never touches a button so I never thought about it. Yes, it would be nice to have a menu or Q screen appear when the LCD is off but it is very easy to turn on so no big deal. I never touch the control ring as I shoot raw and only go to jpeg to use the control ring for the digital convertor or manual, so not a problem. Conclusion? Great camera!

    Great review! I have been waiting for a good review on this camera. I have a couple of questions about the telephoto lens you have. Does this lens add both 50 and 70mm optically? I am guessing it adds 50mm optically. So can it shoot raw at 50mm. Also I have no issues with jpeg. So is raw possible at 50mm with the teleconverter? The other question is from my understanding with the teleconverter lens and the in body crop you can shoot at 70 and about 110mm is that correct? Thanks for the great review. I look forward to hearing from you.

      Hey Juan,
      Thanks for the comment and the support.
      Seems like there have been a few people asking me about the teleconverter so perhaps I'll make a video later on highlighting the details of it when placed on the camera. But to answer your question, yes once you put the TCL converter on it is optically 50mm so you can shoot RAW at that focal length. When in JPEG however, you can add the digital teleconverter on top of it to make it a 72mm or a 100mm.

    Is this camera good for beginners or should I just go with the sony mark 5? I've never owned a camera before.

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  7 лет назад

      Hello! I'm assuming you're referring to the Sony RX100 Mark V.
      It really depends what you're looking to use the camera for. This Fuji, having a larger sensor and the Fuji colors, shoots a more pleasant image (my opinion of course). I have used an RX100 Mark 2 before and the images from the Fuji surpassed it. Of course, that was an older camera and I can't speak for V since I've never own one.
      The Sony is a great all around camera however, good for travels, selfies, vlogging, oh and its got killer high frame rate settings. So in short: Image quality = Fuji. Features and portability = Sony.

    What about the bleed on the left of the back screen when it is pressed? That is the biggest (only) negative in my humble opinion.

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  7 лет назад

      Ken Middleton Hey Ken, I do agree, the x100f has QC problems with the LCD. My first x100f had a defective screen with distorted colors. But I am not noticing this issue you're describing on my current one. Maybe I'm not pressing hard enough.

    awesome review! I noticed you have the protective filter in front of your tclx100 does it affect the image quality? thanks

    • @SMBYopinion
      @SMBYopinion  7 лет назад

      John Rey Hey John! Thanks for the compliment! There will always be a slight degradation with filters but it's not major enough for me to notice. The trade off for lens protection makes sense here since I sometimes forget to put the lens cap back on the lens. Also depends on which filter you purchase.

      Troll Of Justice Hello! Actually on several of the videos they've posted. For example this first look video at 5:13 ruclips.net/video/ll93ilB9DG0/видео.html

    • @tgmwright

      Interesting. All the information I saw was people saying "don't expect more shots; the new sensor and processor are going to use more power"
      Seems like Fuji Guys are confusing the message with Fuji's own website which averages the F at 330 shots while the T has the same rating.

    Your fifth disliked point about this camera is on point. I have the x100 (1st generation) and it switches to LCD screen when I click Menu button even though I set it in Viewfinder mode

    If you own a mac, the short charger (the one you can click in the block) can plug into this charger, and problem solved ;)

    3 things that i dislike . no adjustable display-no weatherproof-the iso handling. thats important for that what this camera should be . a good street and travel camera. hopefully they give us that upgrade on next x100 patch ;-P
