Was saved in 2016 and knew 100% I was going to heaven for what Jesus did on the cross for me. Started reading and studying tons of Bible resources and fell into works salvation preachers and doubted my salvation. Once I doubted my salvation I wasn't able to tell others about Jesus anymore since I wasn't even sure if I was going to make it to heaven myself. Thank you for this sermon!!

Jonah 3:10 is a beautiful verse. It proves that repentance is something God did and we know that God cannot sin. We also know because of that verse that works is turning from your evil ways. We all know that we are not saved by turning from our evil ways but believing on Jesus alone.

In Hebrew Repent means turn around from. So in Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way;(REPENTED) and God repented(TURNED FROM) of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.Yankee changes the meaning of the scripture erroneously claiming that it says turning from their wickedness is works.
It clearly says they repented of their evil works (sin) so God repented and did not do the evil He had planned

Makes perfect sense to me. I have always believed in Jesus Christ since a little boy. So many people cannot see the truth that’s right in front of them mostly because of so many false teachers out there. I do believe that God has blinded the unbelievers with ignorance of the truth. Only few will find it. Thank you Lord Jesus for allowing this sinner to see the truth. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am going to heaven.

Yea, the CORRECT definition of repent. They CHANGE THEIR MIND from unbelief to belief in Jesus as their Savior. If someone thinks repent has anything to do with sin, then they're sayin God sinned. He repented many times in Scripture.

Repentance is a gift only God Himself grants to the sinner the moment they believe on the Son of God Jesus Christ when God makes them a Christian by the new birth after they get convicted by the Holy Spirit of their sin. And one doesn't need to keep the ten commandments to repent all they need is God's redeeming Grace to bring that to pass nothing else.

I have heard Evangelist show the Ten Commandments. Which they preach wrong of repenting of your sins. Not the correct way of pointing us to our need of a Savior Jesus Christ

This may be a weird question, but would you be more likely to describe someone's salvation as a result of someone using their free will to choose to believe in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection alone for payment of their sins? Or, would you say that someone becomes necessarily saved as soon as they were persuaded, by whatever means, that the truth of the matter is that Jesus died for their sins, was buried and rose again?
To believe IS to be persuaded!! Why do adults keep making things hard and complicated?!? I've been saying that since I was a kid, and now I'm in my 40s!!
Jesus also said that if we don't become like little children, we won't enter into the kingdom of God!! Children have a simple faith, they don't complicate things like adults do! Just believe in what Jesus did to pay for ALL your sins! The fact is that we weren’t even born yet, and He still paid for ALL our sins! Salvation is a gift, all we have to do is ACCEPT IT by just believing on what HE did to save us!!
We don't repent to be saved, we get saved to repent & even then it is God who works repentance in us. We are just privileged to be able to participate. This verse speaks volumes to the child of God. "Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness." 2 Tim 2:19. Now, does this imply sinless perfection? Of course not! We can never repent enough to be saved, nor do we repent to maintain our salvation. No, it is just a matter of our temporal & sinful objectives/aspirations being interfered with as the Holy Spirit will indeed be at work in those who belong to God! I mean after all, we are His possession (1 Cor 6:20; 1 Pet 1:18). Even though we rebel & hate doing it, we need to be seeking the Lord for repentance rather than our carnal aspirations as that will be the only way we can as that would save us from a whole slew of problems in life. Much, much more to be said but I will leave it at this.

There is one salvation which God planned from the beginning. Old Testament Saints are not saved any different than us today, only that Christ has been revealed to us. Jesus said that the Law and the Prophets speak of Him.

@@FlyDog79 if you are referring to John the Baptist that's old covenant before the cross. All new testament repent and repentance is the Greek word metanoia meta- Change Noia - mind. It's where the word Paranoia comes. And the change of mind it's referring to is evident by context. Mark 1:5 repent, and believe the gospel. Change your mind from thinking it's by works of obedience ( which the Jews had and knew) and believe the gospel. That Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to all who believe. Faith in him alone brings salvation
Repentance and salvation are two sides of the same coin. The one who has believed ( trusted) in Christ has repented. The one who has repented has come to the point and said Woe is me I'm a sinner I need Christ is saved. Repentance is necessary but it's not turning from sin. CHRIST put away the sin, once saved you are made new in spirit. This flesh and it's deeds were crucified with Christ and are accounted with the flesh

You and I though are in agreement as long as you believe you are saved by grace in Christ alone totally divorced of any good works or “willingness to turn from sin”. It’s all about what Christ did for me to get to heaven, not what I can do for Him.

"Doing good" means they believed. Jesus told us how to be saved in John Chapters 3, 5, 6, 14. It's all over the New Testament. When you understand the gospel, it will bring clarity to the rest of God's word. "Not of works" means literally that works have nothing to do with salvation nor do they determine salvation.

You didn't read. Turning from evil( sin) is considered a work. The point is that God is the one who repented. Does God sin? Did he turn from sin?

In Jesus’s context, the way he puts it it’s to turn from evil
When he speak it, he means turn from your sin. He makes that very clear.

The Bible is incredibly consistent
You must be baptised, chrismated, repent and partake in the holy communion of Christ. The name of the game is theosis, but Protestants will never understand this because they are outside the church. Christ only established one church and most people are living outside her. There is NO salvation outside the church.

@Riječ Božja - Domo 2Kor5:20 I agree with you that godly sorrow only comes to those who are regenerate. It is, in fact, an evidence of genuine faith. So then, how can you also say that godly sorrow v worldly grief only matters in the context of physical death. At some point you have to admit that repentance of sin (from godly sorrow) is a built-in part of redemption that happens when the Spirit causes the new birth
@Riječ Božja - Domo 2Kor5:20 it absolutely does have everything to do with salvation, but you want to persist in the belief that the passage only refers to physical salvation or physical death, and that is silly. Best wishes; I hope eventually you will abandon the notion of regeneration apart from repentance
