I saw on a website somewhere, "Muffins are an excuse to eat cake for breakfast."
lol yes! So true!
I believe that is similar to something from a Jim Gaffigan joke :)
Micki Babe hmmmm calories!
fitzelda_ nothing wrong with sugar
nbs Honestly you are correct, however there is no reason to eat that muffin.
WHO IS GOING TO CUT A MUFFIN INTO 1/3....THAT IS AWEFUL.
MsAsheeraA absolutely it is awful!
Aweful. Wow
The only thing I can focus on this video is the flood that's happening outside of her window.
michelle_lights it's a fountain :) So sorry!
michelle_lights lol ~ i thought am the only 1 who kept looking at the window while watching the video
me too I was like does she live by a river you can see it running past her house but great vid and very informative
michelle_lights lol I know!
+michelle_lights Exactly!
"Salad's always healthy right? WRONG"
😂👌
LOL :) :)
WAIT wtf is this smoothie thing supposed to be??? who buys that to make a smoothie?
+DasZuckerhaus lol, some people do buy those packets, seems silly I agree.
DasZuckerhaus Ha!! My mom used to buy those for all of us kids to make smoothies back in the day! Even the banana flavored one.. They were our favorite!! Little did we know how bad those were for us..lol
DasZuckerhaus wahrscheinlich ist das wie kaba und die nennen es smoothie damit Eltern denken es wäre gesund 😂
like isn't a strawberry smoothie made of strawberries, milk and ice. this isn't even a convenience food
TwinMom3 b
Muffins are claimed to be healthy in America?? Where I come from, muffins are dessert
They should be considered dessert! But yes in America a lot of places consider muffins like a "breakfast food" or healthy snack... which unfortunately it isn't!
Ostekagerne8D hahahaha. I share your amusement. American! huh😪
No, they aren't. I've never known anyone to claim muffins as being healthy
Ostekagerne8D nah, not where I live in America. I think she pointing out more common foods that are unhealthy, rather than foods that people think are healthy.
@ruclips.net/user/drxl34

Then you don't read labels, or see the advertisements for all the coffee/food franchises that bombard the average person every day ... honestly, just a vid ad for a breakfast meal will show a very fit individ that 'suggests' health and that's all they want you to take from it ... Sad, I say.
In my country (and I think maybe for all EU countries) the nutrition info is always for 100 grams, so essentially it's a percentage. It's much better that way, as you can much more easily compare it to other foods and you are never tricked. Most single serving items also offer the serving size (which is always the whole thing) information.
+Mette Ostenfeldt I absolutely agree! Whenever I travel to Europe or Canada I ALWAYS think "Wow, if the US did this maybe people would actually know what they're reading on the label!" I think a lot of marketing companies in the US are intentionally trying to scam Americans, because they know most people don't understand... so sad!
Same I only heard the term " serving" from youtube
SoHardToBeMe Same!
Japan too! Our portions are very small compared to other first world countries!
Yess so thankful 🙋♂️
Good video overall, however I'd like to point out a few things. First, people often think having sodium in your diet is a bad thing. While too much sodium can lead to issues such as high BP, sodium is a necessary mineral. I would advise relatively healthy people to be more concerned with the amount of added sugar in their food versus the amount of sodium, unless you have a health condition where you'd need to monitor your sodium. Sodium is important for many bodily functions, such as water retention and the sodium-potassium pump that maintains proper nerve impulses. Also, 4 g of fibre in that little packaged meal isn't going to do wonders for your health, but it sure is a decent amount. 100g of greens such as broccoli only have about 3g of fibre anyway, and I'm sure that packaged meal contains much less than 100g of broccoli. Lastly, I want to point out that people are sometimes way too caught up in counting calories, carbs, fats, etc. Unless you are on a diet or, again, have a particular condition in which one of these macronutrients need to be watched, I wouldn't stress over it. We all need carbs, fats, and proteins to be healthy! Don't be fooled into thinking that avoiding carbs (energy) and fats (oils, omega-3's, and unsaturated fats) is the best thing you can do for your body!
Agreed. Thank you for stating all of this :) Also, some people do need products with less fat because of health issues, regardless of the fact that the calories stay the same as the original product.
Shirley T depends on what type of oxidizer you are
Shirley T I agree! Also, don't deprive yourself of foods! Unless you have proof that the so-called unhealthy food is hurting you, then why bother? I eat flavored Greek Yogurt from time to time, and the kind of bread I eat isn't Whole Wheat/Grain, but it hasn't hurt me at all and I eat them in moderation
To the sodium thing, I think they say to avoid it because you will eat salt without knowing it and you end up having enough salt for the whole day, but for sure there are so many health and medicinal benefits!
Recently there's been youtubers collaborating with lean cuisines and putting it out there that its healthy, easily accessible and such. The first person who I immediately thought of was you! I had a light bulb in my head with you saying "look at the ingredients, amount of fat, sodium sugar and such!" This video is so amazingly organized and educational :)
1024specialkay OMG that is so annoying! I haven't seen that... I've seen a lot of RUclipsrs that promote the snack boxes and think the same thing. A lot of those "healthy snack box" companies ask to pay me to do videos with their products and I won't because most of those snack boxes aren't really any better for you than regular processed snacks! So deceiving... SO glad you thought of my channel and feel like you're taking something from it to apply to every day life :) Thank you so much!
There is no reason anyone should be eating Jif. they add sugar and corn syrup to peanut butter. The only thing that should ever be added to peanut butter is salt, IF THAT. Peanut butter by itself is delicious. I will never understand how someone can eat peanut butter with corn syrup and sugar in it.
shanny Allen I agree. My husband says "bc that's what he grew up on". Stuck in unhealthy ways he was taught :/
shanny Allen I agree! I use a natural no sugar and sweeter added peanut butter and almond butter. But I was looking at the ingredients of the peanut butter my family uses, and one of the first ingredients is castor sugar (aka powder sugar)! Castor sugar is one of the main ingredients used to make icing!
We are lucky because you can make your own at the grocery store we shop at. You can make your own Almond butter there as well.
Sherifah Arenstein where do you shop?! that sounds awesome
flea Frazier Farms.
They call it trail mix for a reason. It's great to have a high calorie snack on a hike.
Like unsweetened protein bars. For physical activity
Wow, you really opened my eyes with this video! I tend to look at the ingredient list whenever I shop but some things - like salads, trail mixes etc. I just never bother checking because I always think that it's "obviously" healthy. Thanks for a good video!
Totally! I absolutely see what you're saying and you aren't alone! I'm often surprised when I pick up something that seems healthy and then I read the label! Crazy! Glad you found it useful :) cheers!
ikr. now my shopping will take longer because I'll have to read everything
Sonia Siropian just chose an item or two that week. I did this a few years ago. You eventually find the brands you like that are healthier for you. I just now head to those bands first. My shopping is much faster and much cheer because I'm not grazing over other items.
Sonia Siropian sorry that message was yocampout.
I'm scared to eat everything lol
Ha yes it can be frightening!!
I try to make my own everything...my butter, cheese ,bread etc I try planting as much veg and fruits as I can....
How to tell this is filmed in Florida:
1.) the hurricane happening outside the window
2.) PUBLIX
HAHA
Packet smoothie? I've never heard of such a thing. I love making a smoothie with real fruit.
I agree!
Natalie Hernandez you're supposed to put real fruit in the blender and then the packet to give it more flavor. Ive tried the banana one it's really good.
Real fruit smoothies are the best! So delicious ~ When I saw those smoothie packets at my store I couldnt help but laugh a bit at their directions, because they literally direct you to use all the necessary ingredients to make a real natural smoothie without the packet 😂
I'm sure it does taste really great with the packet since its really all just sugar, but it is definitely possible to make healthier smoothies taste just as great without it 👍🏼
Yes, that's one of my favorite breakfasts! Blend fruit with milk, yogurt, kefir, soy milk, or almond milk (I like to change it up). Simple, quick, healthy, & delicious.
I particularly like peanut butter and banana, and may add a scoop of unsweetened cocoa powder for true decandence. Mm!
I was puzzled when I looked at smoothie recipes in women's health magazines, and they all contained sugar! Why?? Plain fruit is plenty sweet, IMO...
Try adding avocado, it makes it super creamy
I can tell this video was shot when you lived back in Florida not only because of the background but the "Publix" brand yogurt haha. They sure don't have any of those in Cali
Jennifer Ladines also...
The flood
lol on the peanut butter jar it said '#1 for choosy mom's! ' 😂
lol!
Mind Over Munch k
Won't eat a peanut butter that has more than 2 ingredients, peanuts, salt. Idk why there's sugar in everything, Syrups and jellies too, why is their corn syrup in some maple syrups, its literally a sweetener! Also the amount of people who'll use something like splenda without realizing what's in it, if you must just use white sugar, just use white sugar!
well we all need to find what is right for us- some people would say you don't even need salt in the peanut butter, but in general, yes less ingredients on a label is preferred :) White sugar might not always be the right choice for everyone, especially depending on our health journeys or medical needs. I did an episode on sweeteners if you'd like more info. It's true, too many items are extremely processed, but at the end of the day we have to find our own way :) Cheers
I really tried natural peanut butter multiple times. But I just can't do it. So I buy my Kraft peanut butter. At least I don't buy Skippy peanut butter whose main ingredient is icing sugar!
TheMusiclover500 sadly many companies just want to make more money and could't care less about their customers
e.g. in marple sirup they add corn syrup to make more profit by using less marple sirup to make more
OMG this is so true, I noticed the same when I used to drink Naked smoothies and thought they were good for me, then I read the label carefully and found out there were two serving in the bottle wih more than 30 g sugar each, and I used to drink them all thinking the whole bottle is one serving. It was shocking to know that not all advertised healthy food are healthy :(
MsRMQ Exactly! Juices and smoothies are another deceiving one! Maybe I'll do a video on these... :)
I love this. So many of us have gotten this wrong at some point. I'm glad you touched on the added carbs for reduced fat/fat free products. You are super knowledgeable and your videos are enjoyable to watch! It really shows that you are more concerned about health rather than just "looking fit" which is truly admirable. (:
I love how you point out natural sugar vs. added sugar! I always try to explain that to people. I love your videos so much!
Thank you!! Yes a lot of people don't realize the difference! It's crazy!
Sugar is sugar
Very informative video and thank you! Please keep videos like this coming :) I enjoy watching them
This was a great video. Very informative. Thank you!
That's the only channel, out of many I tried to watch, that is really informative. No bullsh*t, no pretense to give strict lessons, just someone who clearly has done some research trying to spread infos about healthy choices and meals. I wonder why you have so few subscribers, this should be one of the most viewed youtube channels. Keep the hard work up!
This makes my day, thank you so much! I am so glad you found it useful. My goal is definitely to help people make their OWN informed decisions, I never want to tell people what to do. I think the channel may be a bit slow to grow because a lot of people don't want to learn how to make decisions for themselves- they want someone to tell them what to do. That isn't my style, but it's okay, I feel very lucky for the community we have! Thanks for being here! Cheers
Sandra Bullock (miss congeniality) crossed with Zoey Deschanel (new girl)
+swish1onu I won't complain about that! :) Thank you!
All your videos are so helpful!
+Beckserella I know you wrote this 7 months ago, but thought I'd answer anyway lol. I watched another video from Mind Over Munch and she said they return the unopened items to the grocery store :)
CRASSHx That is really unfortunate. I worked at a grocery store for years, and we had to throw out returned parishable items, because once they leave the store we can't guarantee their safety for consumtion because we were not able to monitor their proper levels of refrigeration.
Becks I have also heard her say that she gives the food to her neighbors and friends, especially when she cooks food and has excess.
Me Here No wine tastes good it all taste like vinegar to me!
just discovered your channel....love it!!...I have been doing everything wrong, that I thought was right..yikes...tks for the great info
I have a quick recipe for homemade fruit on the bottom yogourt
1. put jam in the bottom of a small container
2. top the jam with unsweetened Greek yogourt
3. squirt a bit of honey on top
4. put the lid on and take to school/work/wherever and enjoy
awesome! I love it!
I'm listening to your message, but I can't stop staring at that beautiful weather out your window!
+JennzOrs good old Florida! :)
No longer counting calories, but I will not eat until I throw up lol.
It's amazing how much hidden ingredients go into these ore packaged foods. People think low fat, "light" etc is the best option, but they aren't educated to understand that they aren't, and they're worse for you. Thanks for making these videos and teaching how to read the labels Alyssa, it helps big time.
Of course! It makes me angry how sneaky these marketing companies are. The only hope we have is to learn how to really read the labels properly on our own :)
Love this channel! Ive been subscribed for a long time. So happy that you are getting more subscribers and views on your videos now! Its making people more aware of living healthier and making smarter choices.
Thank you, Melissa! I appreciate it :) So glad to have you here, and thanks for sticking around!
my favorite parts are the transitions. 1:09 - 1:12 NEXT UP SALADD, WRONG! i can't stop laughing.
😅😂 haha thank you!
I am really curious, what do you do with the unhealthy food that you buy just for the video? Can you return it to the store or do you keep it? That muffin looked so appetising...
Lol good question! I return it :) unless I opened it and then I just kept it or gave it away (or ate the m&ms out of the trail mix... 😁). Don't worry I had a bite of that muffin! Lol. It was pretty good but not for the calories!!
this was so informative. thank you!
Just when I thought I would never understand how to read food labels, you come and explain all these things in a very easy way. THANK YOU!! :)
lilomm
Your videos have been so helpful for me!! I'm addicted to peanut butter I feel like I need to have it all the time but I hate how calories and fat dense it is. Then I found pb2 it claims to have 70% less fat, is this a good alternative to normal peanut butter????
Yes
+Jessica Brown depends, pb2 does have less calories but it also has added sugar and salt (compared to 100% peanut variety), pbs has most of the good fats and nutrients removed. So it's not as nutritious or satiating.
Peanuts are not good for you. Buy cashew butter, almond, sunflower seed.
Alana Why are peanuts "bad". My dad ate natural peanut butter almost every day his entire life and he lived to be 87.
Wow! It sure was pouring rain over there D:
Nancy Nguyen I think its a fountain
It's a hurricane
Or something.
Absolutely love your channel! I have been binge watching it!! So informative and helpful!
thank you so much!! happy to have you here!
I love this and subscribed. I've started counting calories and it's made me pay way more attention to the nutritional facts. They really get you on the serving sizes, too. So much food out there is deceiving and has so much unnecessary added sugars or sodium.
I'm so glad you enjoyed! Thank you! Welcome to the channel :) It can be surprising reading the nutrition labels!! So important that we do so!
You should start charging people for a call in service where they can send you a picture of what they're looking at and ask if it's healthy or not! haha. People are lazy, most won't want to learn how to read the labels, sadly. Awesome video by the way! I love making my own granola cereal, bars, muffins, and oatmeal waffles (frozen to always have on hand) - life is much better when you cook it yourself :)
lol! That is true, and unfortunate. I want to TEACH people to make their own decisions, but so many people don't want to learn- they want to be told. We need to change this and encourage people to become responsible! So glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
I don't think 290 calories for a salad is that much. I never use the entire dressing container either. Well, I never actually buy those pre-packaged salads, they have the grossest preservative taste to me. But, I think its a better option for a lot of people than fast food.
Randi MacDonald Absolutely! 290 calories isn't too much for a meal, but when you consider the size of the salad and the amount of fat in that size, it is a tad higher than it needs to be. Using only some of that dressing is a great tip! And you are correct, it is ABSOLUTELY a better option than many fast food choices :) The point of using it in this video was to bring the nutrition label to the attention of others because many people just "assume" it's healthier because it's a salad, when the truth is we have to read the label of anything pre-prepared to know :) Thanks for your great feedback!
Randi MacDonald that's pseudoscience. The "fatphobia" of the 90s is why everyone got sicker with the low-fat craze. Your body needs fat- just be conscious of what types of fat you consume. Be more wary of sugar than fat.
TYVM - I intend to share this vid w/ several friends (maybe on FB too - lol) who buy nothing but "fat/sugar free"and "pre-prepped" to save time and still have a healthy diet.
"Learn how to read nutrition labels" is the bang on biggest point that I took from this vid, and LOOK at the serving size to compare ...
But the biggest point is to understand is that food manufacturers DO NOT have our best interests (ie: health) in mind.
I'm so glad you find this video useful and worth of sharing! Reading nutrition labels is SO important, they can be so deceiving! And food manufacturers can be, too - we've each got to be our own advocates for our health!
I seriously adore every one of your videos. This one was so timely for me, as I've been more conscious of my nutrition labels lately. I'm a fine arts student (which is basically like being an athlete), so summer's been all about training and getting fit for next semester. Thank you for all you do!
Also, I just realized that your birthday was two days before mine. Happy belated birthday! July babies are so lively and fun!
princess722 Thank you! I was a fine arts student too so I know what you mean lol! Also, happy belated birthday to you! #cancertwins
Oh awesome! That's so cool to know. And thank you! :-)
Any extra input regarding "salt", that salad had 900mg? 1500mg per day is recommended.
BTW- did you have to blow my "peanut butter" away,? I love it!!!🙁
great point! That is a TON of sodium for one small salad!
Actually 2300 is recommended per day, only 1500 if you have blood pressure problems. The salad still has a lot of sodium tho
"Smoothie packet" just add the entire smoothie........ 😑
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this, it just gets better each time
Ha that's so awesome! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for your hard work that you provide for your subscribers
I have been learning so much from your videos
I am more aware of what I am getting to my belly
Fatimah Aljawi Thank you so much! I am so glad you are becoming more aware and are learning! That's what it's all about :) Cheers!
In my smoothies, the sweetener is often a banana.
YES that's my favorite sweetener!! :)
Mind Over Munch Exactly! :D
Please do a video about Silicone/Cellulose in processed food and how they affect the body :)
This is a comment from a long time ago but cellulose does nothing to your body. We can't digest it. Fiber is partially made of it as cellulose is one of the compounds which make wood and other hardened plant organs.
This was incredibly helpful! It really opened my eyes on these foods
So glad you learned from it! 💜
Subscribed! I love how you go into detail but also make it so fun instead of just going on and on all monotone. haha
+Casimira Hernandez :) I LOVE that, thanks so much for your great feedback! :) We don't want healthy to be boring!!! Thank you, and welcome to the channel!
Could you make a PDF on what you should general have per day. For example average recommended calories fora woman/man per day. Recommended amount of fat you should have per day, etc...
I know this is an old comment but try the my fitness pal app.
Great work as always! ^-^ I have one question though: why does it always look like it rains, in the window besides you? :"D
Lol, I thought I was the only one noticed that.
Lol! That apartment has a fountain outside :) thank you!
Do you have a video on sweeteners ? If not can you make one? Thanks!
Wow thanks so much for this information this was big eye opener for me.
+Jessica Nevarez so glad you found it useful! Thank you!
Less calories doesn’t necessarily make something healthier
That's why she mentions other factors too
🍓 🍌 🍼 = healthy yummy smoothie!
That's all you need ;)
true!
Just found your channel yesterday and I'm so glad I did! Subscribed!
that's so awesome, thank you! Welcome to the channel!!
Your videos always encourage me to cook more while being uber selective about the ingredients. Definitely in my top 3 of RUclipsrs!
that is so amazing, thank you so so much!! :)
I don't agree about cheese. Here you are showing a processed cheese, and not an actual cheese. I am a cheese maker, and we use milk from our farm. We have a cream seperator , and when I need cream for making four cream and such, I take out all the fat from the milk. I then use this milk for making cheese, and there really is not much difference once it is aged. So ingredients are: Skim milk, rennet, active cultures.
Thanks for the insight!
Miranda Hoffman No, I make soap for a living. We own goats, which all started because I have a cow milk allergy. I make natural cheese and dairy products several times a week. Our family grows gardens, cans fruit and veggies, and yes, we have dairy goats. Land and Animal Husbandry. Sustainable living. etc.
🌺💖Bottom line: Processed food is bad for you. You can make everything at home with whole ingredients and it tastes better too! That's why I created my channel to share clean recipes using real ingredients 😉🌺💖
Yep you can make things at home with whole ingredients, the reality is that isn't possible for all people - either financially or time-wise - so it's important to educate ourselves so we can make healthier choices with the foods we do buy.
Love ❤️ Love ❤️ your channel your videos has been helping me alot. I read every label today while shopping. I went shopping today and read every label of food I brought 😊 Ty for sharing important information, and helping me to know what I put into my body.
thank you! That is so amazing, I'm so glad you're finding it all helpful! Light and love!
I am in love with your channel! you pick great music and the vids are entertaining, helpful and well produced! Great job! 👌👌
I appreciate that, thank you!
What do you think for fat free milk? Healthy or not ? :))
Milk is never healthy as it promotes cancer growth and there is blood, pus and hormones in it. Go to nutritionfacts.org if you're interested and search for dairy.
+Simona Boianova Organic Dairy Milk is least processed but if you're concerned about macros then try skim milk
+Jimmy Duvall or dairy free milk is best
Publix! Southern girl. Good store.
+hollyh1693 I
+Mind Over Munch - I'm eating their fried chicken as we speak....it consistently wins the greater Birmingham AL search for best fried chicken and when you are in Alabama and your chicken wins - you know that is some GOOD chicken :-) Plus if you didn't know they will give you a free chicken tender and cookie just for going up and asking (deli and baker). Especially kids, but really anyone. They gave me all breasts tonight in an 8 pc for the same price as the regular, just to be nice.
Ha I sound like I own stock in them but I really don't, just appreciate their service....and fried chicken.
Your videos are so awesome! Keep up the great work! Absolutely look foward to seeing more and more videos...even my 11 year old daughter watches you...she was so happy when you responded to her comment. Thanks for all the motivation and inspiration!
joanna Ramirez That's amazing! I LOVE knowing your daughter watches. I really want to help inspire and educate people of all ages, and I think it's so important to start becoming aware of what's around us when we are young! I try my best to respond to all comments, I really appreciate your feedback and support! Thank you!
Thank you for making this video. i think this is really important content that is overlooked. it's great that you put all this info in one video
***** thank you! I am so glad you found it useful! I totally agree with you- too often people just don't even realize what they should be looking for!
OMG WHAT IS LIFE?!? Alyssia just saved mine guys. I'm making better decisions with the help of your channel, thank you for everything you do for us, for me! This was SO SO helpful!! Thank you so much!! This is why I need you in my life, never leave.
Jade Green
Adrian Sandoval why are you so angry? Jealous?
isnt the sodium intake recommendation to be under 2,500 mg, not 1,500 mg?
Yes, different organizations have different suggestions- the American Heart Association notes 2500 is the RDA but the "ideal limit" for most people is 1500mg. It will really depend on your personal health history and situation, but most Americans consuming processed foods and restaurant meals regularly will exceed both of those suggested numbers.
Awesome video and very helpful!
So glad you enjoyed! Thanks!!
i'm glad there's someone else out there that reads ingredients and also avoids them when they're too long to list on the package.
anyone else notice that it's pouring!!! outside that window?
lol! It's a fountain
:o
Food for thought; recommended sodium levels are a complete lie. Sodium is not bad.
+xthatwhiteguyx interesting thought. It's true that we actually need sodium and some people more than others, but some people do need to watch or reduce their intake, especially depending on health conditions and health history. It's best to listen to your doctor.
This is not really food for thought without putting in sources.
Ooh, I am so happy that you made this video. I have been getting the lean cuisines and healthy choice meals for when I don't have time to cook for me. I always thought it would be a healthier choice till you mentioned the sodium. Thanks for the heads up!
Yes!! They aren't all terrible, but the sodium does tend to be high so make sure to read the label :)
Thank you for the Info n reminder
My pleasure! :)
That salad is actually great if you're on a ketogenic/low carb diet. Fat isn't nearly as inherently evil as sugar.
I couldn't see sugar clearly actually so assuming that's not too high
Could be, but most people are fueled by glucose unless they specifically transition their bodies to run on ketones, so the video was intended to be accessible to more people. If they are on a diet primarily fueled by carbohydrates, fat must be limited to some degree.
Very true, but just making note of it bc perhaps someone might not realize that's even a thing.. and for some it might be an epiphany as it was for me! I been trying to lose weight for YEARS with cutting fat, eating clean, vegetarianism.. nothing worked with or without exercise... but finally, I started low carb (50g or less a day) about 2 weeks ago and boy do I feel awesome!! I finally am losing weight and my digestion is so happy haaha.
Anyway, I love your videos as I'm always trying to be educated as possible about health related issues. :) have a wonderful day!!
Flip your arms around some more my lord
your wish is my command
Mind Over Munch I have been reading a load of these messages and finding my self laughing. I find you compling and engaging. So keep it up! love your vids and enjoy watching you deliver great content. Keep on enjoying what you do.
Thank you for the information. .great !!
+MONIQUE ORRANTIA my pleasure! Thank you!!
What a wonderful video! Thank you for this! I wish I'd know all these when I was a student in Canada years ago! I had no idea about reading labels back than :)
***** Awesome! So glad you found it useful. I know, I totally wish I'd known about some of these earlier on! It's a journey :)
"...to compensate for the fact that this is gross." Love your personality.
+TheGinnaWinna 🙊lol!! thank you :)
Another great, informative video. Thanks for sharing this info with us. I read labels most of the time and some of the options are crazy! Love your videos :)
bronwenism yes! Sometimes these foods trick us!! So glad you found it enjoyable, thanks!
I said it before, and I will say it again, thank thank you for teaching me all of this about food! I love your recipes, but my favorite videos are these because I was such a sucker for all of that reduced fat crap and highly processed food. I'm going into my food journey much more informed thanks to you, and other articles and such about food.
That's so great! I really like sharing these videos because I myself have had to learn so much and am always SHOCKED by these labels and the way these sneaky companies market the products! I'm so glad you enjoy, thank you for letting me know! More to come 💜
Thanx for the info 😊
+Ebonie Moultrie my pleasure! Thank you!
Another awesome video! I've recently been watching some food/eating documentaries and this went hand in hand with them! Thanks for your great videos, as always! 😊👍🏼
Courtney Keating That's so neat! Which documentaries? I appreciate you watching, thanks!
+Mind Over Munch I've watched Food Inc., Fed Up, and GMO OMG. All of them have been VERY eye opening!
Thanks for letting me know this. I've been buying these for years thinking that they were better options for me.
You aren't alone! I was surprised too!
Mind Over Munch I actually had that same salad today too for lunch. lol
Thx Fran!
Can you please make a video about reading the nutritional facts? Like how much sugar, carbs and sodium can be "ideal" within the amount of serving? Keep up the videos, they are great 😊
Alan s. Hiwa There is no "ideal" - it all depends on our fitness goals. Some people are trying to eat a lot more or less of fat/carbs/protein... so I can definitely help learn HOW to read a label, but it's still up to each individual to learn what THEY need for their bodies :)
I've started buying coconut milk yogurt and I love it so much! It's sweetened with organic agave, but it's the same thickness as Greek yogurt. I don't know if it's necessarily better than traditional yogurt but I'm transitioning back into eating vegan, and coconut milk yogurt tastes so much better than soy yogurt. Plus it's non-GMO and made with organic coconut!
Yes! I love coconut milk yogurt, I've been baking with it a lot!
Thanks for the info. I have to learn how read labels more
Me too! Thanks for watching!

+Fares Touma awesome, more to come :) Thanks!
The truest thing ever omg. I have to watch my cholesterol and learned about sodium causing a lot of the problems and was just surprised to learn how much horrible amounts there are in processed foods.
I would like to point out that those salads come in a variety. My favorite is the one with black beans and corn. That particular brand that you showed also has organic versions(which I love) with less sugar/sodium and calories
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you, I totally need it this video!! ^^
Sunhee Jung so glad you found it useful! Thanks!!
Mind Over Munch ^^ I didn't know I was deceived when I was eating salads. :-( although it made me feel little better since I really don't like salad and usually don't eat them when I am out.
Loved the video; as always! ;)
I really love these informative ones sprinkled in w/ the recipe vids. It's really empowering to know how to actually look at & actually understand a food product's label.
That's so good to know! Thank you! I'm definitely going to keep them coming :)
Good info!
Thanks!!
