Thanks Alysia. I worked at a sushi place and learned that that the crab meat in california rolls is shredded with a machine, then mixed with sugar and mayo to make it creamy and soft. Thats the case when the crab meat looks shredded like it is in your roll but if its a whole untouched crab meat there is no mayo or sugar. Just a heads up!
I like debunking videos like this that aren't specific to a resturant. Helps out international viewers who just don't have Panera or what have you where they live. Keep up the great videos :)
honestly in my opinion, the traditional Japanese sushi is pretty healthy. though there is added sugar, the vinegar in rice can help to regulate the blood sugar level. also idk if it is true but sushi rice (white rice) usually contain resistance starch after cooling down.
Could you do a healthy choices video on Jamba Juice? They do have food items as well and their smoothies have ice cream in them so I would like your input on that.
+Drama_Llama_5000 I've tried making the cucumber roll with medium success, I need a proper sushi chef to teach me how to cut it because getting that thin cucumber uniform is so tough lol!
+Drama_Llama_5000 the problem is you have to peel it width wise, so it's wide & long while being thin! I've tried a few times and watched so many RUclips videos- everyone uses a chefs knife. They make it look so easy but it's hard to get it even lol!
How about making cucumber boats? I want to try the cucumber-sushi thing but I'm not going to peel and roll a hundred of these (I have 4 young adults, husband, and extras). But I will make them on half a cucumber cut lengthwise, middle scooped out and filled with a thin layer of rice, avocado, and mango salsa.
+Melissa TC well, keep in mind that ingredients matter, so you're probably getting more "quality" ingredients with the sushi, but the macronutrients can be about the same depending on the roll which is mind blowing!
It's the American sushi rolls that are so unhealthy. They may be popular here, but they aren't served in Japan. The Japanese do not consider them sushi.
Your videos are helping me make informed food choices ☺ Could you possibly make a video about Indian food? Since its so popular we surely need to be more aware of what we're eating!
Raweeha Abdul Rab I want a video like that as well. I am originally Indian myself so it has been years since I’ve eaten at an Indian restaurant. I’m from the American Midwest so the restaurants are not all that great for Indian food unless he go to the East Coast or the West Coast. Paneer is a type of farmers cheese but it’s extremely high in protein. Puros and pakoras and samosas are always drenched in a while so it’s better to buy them and fry them yourself or to make them at home. Most Currys are OK as long as they don’t have a ton of cream in them. Wisen roti should be OK as long as you eat smaller amounts. Dal is usually safe. Desserts with the least amount of oil are keer and halva. You probably don’t want the ones that have been deprived and drenched in Surap. If you eat at an Indian restaurant occasionally you should be OK but if you eat more regularly, be extremely careful. Instead of drinking calories, just stick to water. Eat responsibly folks!
I typically just get salmon and tuna sashimi with a cup of brown rice on the side. My stomach doesn't like to have a huge amount of protein and no carbs..this way I get a nigiri style meal with healthy carbs!
I loved your final tip about really savoring and enjoying the sushi. When you think about how painstakingly each roll was assembled, you can really appreciate each flavor and layer of ingredients. It's corny but I also like to spend a minute just admiring how pretty each roll looks. Some of them are like works of art! Just those few moments of looking at the food before you eat it gives you a minute to remember to pace yourself and savor what you're eating. Great video, as usual! Love from Maryland!
You should try Oldstyle Hawaiian rice by Sunwest Foods, it's brown rice that's been "lightly milled," so the bran and germ are still intact, but the taste is closer to white rice. I go through 50 lbs of it a year!
+Kimberly Jackson I need to learn! I've tried a dozen times but getting that cucumber sliced so thinly and uniformly is tough lol! I need a sushi chef to teach me!
Spicy doesn't necessarily mean spicy mayo. It depends on the restaurant and it it's always advisable to ask the restaurant if they have any mayo in their menu items.
Hey, I love your videos! My family loves bacon - especially my young boys. Could you perhaps do a video comparing bacon and what to look for when choosing the best possible option and what to avoid with bacon? thanks!
I work at Wegmans and a separate company does the sushi but they have every roll in white rice or a brown rice quinoa blend! And it's really actually good.
Sushi in Japan is ‘’ healthier’’ but the fried ones are not healthy! The sushi in Japan are always taken from fresh seas! It’s actually a law in Japan if you are going to build a sushi chain you have to have a degree in culinary school. And to always pick up fresh and the whole fish on the market. So people in Japan always know what is in their food. Which is really helpful for us!
Hi, Alyssa. That looks delicious. You really outdone yourself again. You are just one outstanding cook when you make anything healthy and hearty. You truly inspired me and the rest of the wonderful cooks on the internet. I have a question: do you have any helpful tips on how to make some really sweet vegan treats? Please let me know. See ya in the next vid, Alyssa. Byron. :-)
Also with sushi, there are all kinds of pickled vegetables you can eat along with it, and as you had at the beginning of your meal, the edamame. I was waiting for you to do Spam musubi, but I guess that's self explanatory enough, lol.
This video is so enlightening! Whenever I go out to eat, I almost always tend to get sushi and up until recently, I just assumed all sushi was healthy for you! Thanks for sharing this information with me, I'll be sure to try the healthier options next time!
I'm so glad you found it useful! You aren't the only one who was deceived, I was for a long time, too! I still order the indulgent sushi I love a lot of times, but I like to at least be aware haha :)
I usually order the sashimi lunch and ask for brown rice instead of white. I actually have no idea how much of each macro there is, but I know it's high in protein, low in fat, and decent in carbs. I find it perfect for me because it's 10-15 pieces of assorted fish (usually 5 different types) with wasabi/ginger along with a cup of brown rice (I find the nutty flavor and stickiness of brown rice delicious!) For sauce, I usually just order the ginger sauce that the place has, I don't know if it's worse than soy sauce but I only grab a minimal amount and since you said that the fish absorbs less of it, I'm slightly relieved now.
+Metroid250 absolutely! Soy sauce gets a bad reputation but it's unfortunate because if you're using just a little to add flavor and if you don't consume much salt in the rest of your diet it really isn't a huge deal :) If you like sashimi then you're already ahead of most! Such a healthy choice!
Debunking dim sum would be a great video to go along with this sushi one. Regarding sushi, I would suggest ordering things like a seaweed salad and other types of Japanese specialty small dishes to sort of distract the palette away from the fried less healthy choices.
She was eating edamame as an appetizer at the restaurant. Delish, addictive, and good for you. Maybe the healthiest thing at the restaurant. Trader Joe's sells it in the freezer section.
Excellent video! I only learned to like sushi a couple of years ago, and MAY have slightly overestimated how healthy it is. Fortunately, I only eat it occasionally as it can get quite pricey. Thanks! Great breakdown.
+Budget Girl OMG I know... it can be SO expensive! The place we went in this video we love because you can get full rolls (like full dragon or california rolls) for $5 at happy hour, which is like over 1/2 the price! It's amazing! But still only for every now and then health wise lol...
So. Jealous... I just moved to rural arkansas and have to drive 1.5 hours away to even find a place that SERVES sushi. And I wish it were $5! Ah well, I'll move back to a big city one day, and in the meantime at least I'm not tempted to bust the budget all the time! :-)
I always order 8 pieces of vegan maki. At my sushi joint that means maki with avocado, bell pepper, some pickled vegetable (I haven't asked which one) and cucumber. And I also have a tablespoon or two of tamari and miso soup. I feel like that's fairly healthy
I just discovered this series and it's so helpful! Going out to eat with friends on a whim always leaves me feeling helpless! You hit so many of the chain restaurants that I find myself out, and it's really helpful to learn about some healthy options! I've tried to sort through the nutrition info at a lot of these places on my own, but I don't really know what I'm doing so I was pretty lost. Thanks so much for your help! Love your channel!
I make a deconstructed sushi bowl with the sushi vinegar etc, but with cauliflower "rice" - just a cauliflower whizzed in a food processor and sautéed in a little bit of sesame oil and water. It's yummy, you don't have to muck around rolling it up and I promise the cauliflower "rice" is nicer than rice anyway! We load it up with veg and either tofu or lean chicken breast. Try it sometime!
I like taking some fiber powder with me when I eat out on my cheat meal. Then I put it in my water or unsweetened tea. That way I can get some fiber in me before I indulge in a carb heavy meal.
I like to ask for some of the ginger pickling liquid to add to my soy sauce. Also, a squeeze of lemon juice in the soy sauce can bump up the flavor and cut the sodium.
I am so OBSESSED with all your videos! You guys are truly amazing and I am learning so much! You are completely different from other food channels because you make these recipes healthy and make it look easy to do! I love you guys!!
I like to make my own sushi as the fish that is sold here is actually much lower in heavy metals and other poisonous things. As for the rice I LOVE cauliflower. If I want it to stay together I can add some corn starch to it. Not many calories and tons of nutrition. I could just cauliflower everything, literally. It's been my favorite thing to eat since I knew what it was
@@MindOverMunch yeah my parents kept wondering where all the frozen cauliflower got to when I was like 4yo. So yeah since then it has been my obsession 🤣 too bad it's so expensive 😭
I really loved the tip about slowing down, I feel like I don't enjoy my food at all anymore. I just eat it quick so I can move on to the next thing. It is important to enjoy the little things in life! That sushi actually looked pretty good! I've never had sushi before but I'm definitely up to trying it now. Alyssia you've made a believer out of me, you sold that sushi girl! Haha see you Monday ❤
It took me awhile to get used to the brown rice, but I miss the flavor now when I have white rice rolls. Having said that, the only place in Mobile, AL to get brown rice sushi is Publix and Whole Foods. Not one of our sushi bars offers it :(
For me sushi is a treat, because of the prices up here in Canada. My favourites are avocado, carrot, cucumber, and shiitake in my rolls. I sometimes eat a yam roll, which has tempura yam, but again it's a once in awhile thing. When I make sushi at home I leave out the sugar in the rice OR add just a pinch. And then I use fresh veggies as the filling. Now as for soya sauce? Yeah I like my normal soya, hehe! When I'm with my Celiac friend though we use tamari.
I just wanna say how much I (and I know all your other viewers!) appreciate the effort, research, and editing skills you put in to your videos. It must take you hours! I basically binge watch/listen your channel on my third monitor the whole day while I'm at work lol. Hope your journey leads you closer to a cruelty-free lifestyle.
I love to make sushi bowl at home with just een little bit of rice, not more then the amount of 1 small roll and then a lot of veggie's and mango on top with fish or chicken. And just max 1 teaspoon of soja sauce and sesam seeds.
You just blew my sushi mind! All my faves are the most unhealthy---but it's a "treat meal" so I think I'm good. And thanks for the link to the mercury, I saw that flash on the screen, and said I'll never remember all this! Thank you!
+Calisa Hardy LOL! I feel you. It blew my mind too! So true- ENJOY your treat meals, don't feel guilty. Just good to be aware of what we're eating whether it's a treat or not :)
Very interesting - I definitely didn't know about the amount of carbs in white rice. That's a lot of bread. Looking forward to another Kickstart series!
Could you do a video on healthy energy drinks or make a recipe that is packed full of energy that is healthy? I am in college and I don't like coffee too much... I want some alternatives without having to sacrifice consuming so much sugar!
I love this! Thank you for making this video! I've been looking for someone who talks about food like you do for so long! Thank you so much! Looking forward to watching more!
What's a healthy way to use egg yolks? I hate throwing them out seems like such a waste. So I end up giving the extra to my husband. Can you please make a video about the benefits as well as some ways to use them?
+Bree Thomas I use them in my lemon bars or other last minute recipes! ruclips.net/video/51lj080Z8gA/видео.html Also, here's a list of recipes for leftover egg yolks! www.cookinglight.com/cooking-101/essential-ingredients/egg-yolk-recipes/view-all
I found this video super interesting and informative AND I don't event like sushi. I watched over half until I realized I don't even eat sushi lol. Can't wait for the next dining debunked, hopefully I'll like the cuisine!
I didn't think it was click BAIT but I thought this title was a little FISHY. I wasn't gonna CARP on it, though. Turns out you took us to SCHOOL on sushi! 😜 sorry Mama Munch! Love your videos!
Hi Alyssia! First off, I absolutely love your videos and ebooks (I own them all)! I was wondering if you could potentially make a video addressing the arsenic content of rice. I really enjoy brown rice and it seems to be a healthier option, however, I have read a lot of articles recently that suggest it should be avoided altogether because of its natural arsenic content. I would really love to hear your opinion on the subject if you have time! Thanks for the awesome videos!
+twinstalkballet93 Thank you so much! That is amazing :) Arsenic content of rice is touchy and tough to talk about because there isn't really enough research to draw appropriate conclusions. The fact is, there IS arsenic in most rice products, and we do need to be aware, but it's pretty challenging to advise how much/little to eat. Most sources say to keep it less than 3 servings per week for adults. I've seen more sources saying that white rice has LESS arsenic than brown, and that both organic and non-organic varieties are equally affected. BUT I've also read that rinsing your rice before using it can cut down the arsenic quite a bit. My best advice would be to limit your intake, or use a substitute. Basmati is supposedly lower in arsenic. Other grains are great choices, too- quinoa, buckwheat and millet are all very low-arsenic grains, so if you consume a lot of rice I'd suggest using another grain at home and only enjoy true rice as a treat. Eliminating processed foods with rice is also a good step, and of course the less processed foods we can consume in general is always a good thing :) Hope this helps! Cheers!
TwinTalksBallet - Looking at the Japanese population, you can make a pretty good argument that rice - at least Japanese rice - is safe to eat. The Japanese consume about 96 lbs. (uncooked weight) of rice per person each year. If there was significant arsenic levels in the rice, you would expect to see some detrimental effects on the population. Contrary to this, the Japanese people are very healthy. They are ranked number 1 in the world in longevity.
Love your videos! I had no idea sugar was added to sushi rice or that eel sauce was one of the least healthy choices. I learned so much from this video overall. I had no idea that pretty much all of my favorite rolls were the least nutritious !
Don't know how it got its name, but "sushi rice" is just plain, every day Japanese (short grain) white rice. When seasoned for sushi, it's glazed with a light coating of rice-wine-vinegar and sugar.
Could you show us how to make California rolls and different types of sushi? They all look yummy; I used to make regular sushi but because we were a seafood bar in a supermarket, we didn't do anything more than the standard smoked chicken, salmon and tuna rolls. I really enjoyed this video and would like to see more :)
I love to get the bowl at a Mongolian grill, but I am never sure which sauces and spices are actually "healthier," but I'm not really sure where to go to get the nutrition information on them.
Thanks that was helpful but I really wanted to know what the macros would be on nigri sushi. Also, is it possible or practical to ask the chef for half the rice? I noticed that some rolls have Rice on the outside and traditionally it has been on the inside. Is there a difference in the amount of carbs. I wonder if I ask for a no Rice roll then would I still get charged the same price it get maybe a bit more fish.
I think this sushi you touched on here is more western-style (which adds western style ingredients) than sushi I'm used to getting in Japan. Rolls don't exist as much in Japan (only like a tuna or other fish on the inside with nori wrapped around). Most sushi at high-end is にぎり nigiri with just the fish laid on the top over rice. I personally prefer sushi in its simplest form which I've only found in Japan (and I live here).
NOW I WANT TO GO GET SUSHI :( lol I usually get mine with the spring roll wrapper instead of the white rice....YES it tastes better with white rice but having sooooo many carbs all at once for a diabetic is nooooo bueno! lol GREAT VIDEO !!! Thank you for taking the time to inform us of better choices!
Where would soy paper fall? My absolute favorite roll (if you are ever in Houston, TX go to Eurasia!) is filled with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail, wrapped in white rice and soy paper. Would this be a bad choice? What about soy paper, white rice, spicy tuna, and masago? Love your videos! -Madeleine
+maddie0896 I mention soy paper at the end- it's a great low cal, low carb option. It isn't really providing much nutrition but isn't hurting either. Great substitute for rice if you're looking for lower cal/carb! :) Your choice sounds very healthy. Just watch out for the rice as mentioned in this video :)
Hi Alyssia, thank you for the video it's super interesting and informative . I can't wait for the next dining debunked, hopefully you can do Italian or Moroccan cuisine finger crossed ;). Love you
I just discovered your channel and still going through your videos. The past few years we've been making several cross country drives per year and the healthy options while on the road are seemingly non existent. Any tips you can offer for the road that you either buy or take? Thank you for all the work you put into gathering all the information you do!
Hi, really love your videos. They are really helpful, I'm starting a healthier lifestyle but love seafood, do you think maybe you could do a video on seafood and its pros and cons.
It definitely is, I acknowledge sashimi in the video :) I wanted to spend time on the more deceiving rolls because it's less obvious that they're less good choices :)
I always eat everything but the rice when I get sushi. I will have to ask if they can just do it without. I can't wait until we get Poke bowls here in Calgary. It's like the inside of a roll in a bowl😉
That is fantastic info, thank you for sharing!

+basilcake awesome! Thank you for the advice, I'll totally keep this in mind!
Love veggie rolls- avocado, cucumber, and carrot!
+dizzizzi12 right on!
me too!
Sushi isn't actually about the fish as most people suspect it's actually about the rice...
Yes you're right about that! It's very interesting :)

+Lily Great suggestion, thank you!
I'm in agreement here!
I thought maybe you could show us how to make our own sushi, because I'd love to try the cucumber thing!
+Drama_Llama_5000 I've tried making the cucumber roll with medium success, I need a proper sushi chef to teach me how to cut it because getting that thin cucumber uniform is so tough lol!
+Mind Over Munch have you tried using a peeler to get thin strip?
+Drama_Llama_5000 the problem is you have to peel it width wise, so it's wide & long while being thin! I've tried a few times and watched so many RUclips videos- everyone uses a chefs knife. They make it look so easy but it's hard to get it even lol!
+Mind Over Munch Mandolins are your friend!

But I will make them on half a cucumber cut lengthwise, middle scooped out and filled with a thin layer of rice, avocado, and mango salsa.
Knowledge is power. But wow! My sushi loving heart is broken knowing I've been eating the nutritional equivalent of Big Macs. Ugh!!!
You should do the whole foods salad bar/ burritos!!!!
Great idea! Thanks!

Hey +Mind Over Munch, can you do a on the go/car ride snacks ideas?
+Abigail Lun Great idea! Thank you!
I can't believe i've lived 20 years without knowing that I can wrap my sushi in cucumber!
it's such a fun twist on regular sushi, tastes so fresh too!
U have no idea how helpful this was!! I love sushi but,I'm always so confused as to what's actually good for me!!
i'm getting sushi tonight and i've been really stressed about messing up my diet but this video really helped, thank you!
Don't stress!!! :) Glad you found it useful! Enjoy your dinner!
Sashimi is always raw actually!
Terry Bickerton sometimes the tuna is seared 😆
Tamago is cooked egg and is served as Sashimi sometimes.
Pandora Vex tamago should never be served as sashimi.
Thank you for this video!
I would love it if you would show us how to make a cucumber roll.
+Kimberly Jackson I need to learn! I've tried a dozen times but getting that cucumber sliced so thinly and uniformly is tough lol! I need a sushi chef to teach me!

neat!
This is why I only eat sushi as a 'cheat meal' . I get to the restaurant and my inner greedy comes out!
LOL yesss want to eat it all!
what? people eat side dishes with sushi rolls? I didn’t 😂
When I go out to a sushi restaurant, I take coconut aminos with me as a soy sauce substitute and it tastes delicious. I also squeeze lemon on it.
same!! Love it!
Hey, I love your videos! My family loves bacon - especially my young boys. Could you perhaps do a video comparing bacon and what to look for when choosing the best possible option and what to avoid with bacon? thanks!
+AH1OZ Thank you! And thanks for the suggestion, I'll brainstorm how to work this in :) Cheers!
Good thing we share when we get sushi. My favorite is the shrimp on a little bit of rice with wasabi.
I work at Wegmans and a separate company does the sushi but they have every roll in white rice or a brown rice quinoa blend! And it's really actually good.
+msclutz15 that's so awesome!! I really need to find some quinoa sushi!

I like taking some fiber powder with me when I eat out on my cheat meal. Then I put it in my water or unsweetened tea. That way I can get some fiber in me before I indulge in a carb heavy meal.
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing the tip! :)
aw man! my 2 favs are the spicy tuna and the philadelphia. I always get them together.
those are two of my favorites too!
WOW. I'm so late.. but this was EXTREMELY HELPFUL . Thank you soo much.
I like to ask for some of the ginger pickling liquid to add to my soy sauce. Also, a squeeze of lemon juice in the soy sauce can bump up the flavor and cut the sodium.
oh nice!! thanks!
Have any of you experimented with cauliflower sushi? Take the cauliflower "rice" into nori, great alternative.
+pushkin1969 I haven't made much sushi on my own, but that's a fantastic idea!
Can you do ice cream/frozen yogurt/gelato/ shaved iced one?
That's a cool idea, I'll brainstorm! Thanks for the suggestion! :)
I am so OBSESSED with all your videos! You guys are truly amazing and I am learning so much! You are completely different from other food channels because you make these recipes healthy and make it look easy to do! I love you guys!!
+Raelyn Mejias Santoro that's amazing! Thank you so very much
I like to make my own sushi as the fish that is sold here is actually much lower in heavy metals and other poisonous things. As for the rice I LOVE cauliflower. If I want it to stay together I can add some corn starch to it. Not many calories and tons of nutrition. I could just cauliflower everything, literally. It's been my favorite thing to eat since I knew what it was
that's so awesome!
@@MindOverMunch yeah my parents kept wondering where all the frozen cauliflower got to when I was like 4yo. So yeah since then it has been my obsession 🤣 too bad it's so expensive 😭
I don't eat a lot of sushi, but I do eat TONS of poke.this videos makes me reevaluate my spicy mayo sauce
I love poke! Spicy mayo sauce is delicious but can be questionable nutritionally...
but my favorite is deep fried "salmon crunchy ball" but I only eat sushi one time in month
Deep fried sushi is so good! lol
Omg sounds delicious!! I love it too :)
"I'm not making art, I'm making sushi." -- Masaharu Morimoto. 🍣🐟👌🍱🗾🇯🇵🇺🇸🎌
I'm so with you Jade, I eat so quickly sometimes- I have to remind myself to relax and enjoy :) we need to chill out lol!
It took me awhile to get used to the brown rice, but I miss the flavor now when I have white rice rolls. Having said that, the only place in Mobile, AL to get brown rice sushi is Publix and Whole Foods. Not one of our sushi bars offers it :(
I also prefer white rice with my sushi. We get sushi 1-2x per month and I almost always get the white rice, I just look at it as a treat :)
Spanish food its very delicious but fating. I will love to see a twist of healthier options. It will be very interesting.!
Thanks for the suggestion!
I am so addicted to your videos! You are making healthy eating/living approachable and easy to follow. Thank you for making all of these videos!
I'm so happy to hear that these videos are helpful for you!! Thanks for your support! :)
+Emily Donnelly (My Own Damn Show) that's smart to leave out the sugar, does it still have the same consistency?
Mind Over Munch sugar i more for season the rice, but I still use short grain calrose rice for my sushi, so it's about the same!
I order lemons to squeeze and add wasabi. It's amazing. Lemon adds to the taste of all the fish.
+Timaree Gaswint awesome! Love lemon and fish :)
+Saskia de Bruijn YUM yes I've been loving have a veggie/rice/chicken bowl lately with soy sauce and sesame oil! So delicious!
Me too and I think it is great for the summer. Also mango with it is amazing
I like adding some lemon juice to my soy sauce. It makes the flavour more intense and I don't end up submerging my sushi in soy sauce.
yes!
+Shari Christine King awesome! Thank you!!
Hi I'm a big fan I would love to see some information on Hispanic food it would be great!!
awesome, thanks!
Could you do a video on healthy energy drinks or make a recipe that is packed full of energy that is healthy? I am in college and I don't like coffee too much... I want some alternatives without having to sacrifice consuming so much sugar!
+Raelyn Mejias Santoro Check out my Summer Sips In Sixty Seconds Series for healthy drinks :) ruclips.net/p/PLt2c0hX1aB8rC-dn_YjAMIUHd_D3vBcgZ
+Bree Thomas I use them in my lemon bars or other last minute recipes! ruclips.net/video/51lj080Z8gA/видео.html Also, here's a list of recipes for leftover egg yolks! www.cookinglight.com/cooking-101/essential-ingredients/egg-yolk-recipes/view-all
What rolls are low in mercury and is it good to eat once a week??
I found this video super interesting and informative AND I don't event like sushi.
I watched over half until I realized I don't even eat sushi lol. Can't wait for the next dining debunked, hopefully I'll like the cuisine!
That's amazing, thank you!!! Maybe check out the panera episode :)
I love sushi, and I knew about avoiding the fried stuff, but I still learned a lot of other things from this. Thank you.
+Thaneii thanks so much! So glad you found it useful :)
I like the side by side comparisons.
+vaderkenobifan great! Thank you, more to come!
+A.J. DeVial I haven't made much sushi, but I'll brainstorm, thank you! :)
This helped me a lot. Omg we've been eating 36 pieces combined... Both nigiri, maki and hosomaki (I know they vary in size, but still)😱
+Sanne Graversen I feel you! It's a challenge to find the "right" amount. It all "seems" so healthy!!
I want to see when your breakdowns for Middle Eastern, Greek, or other Mediterranean cuisine.
I've never tried sushi before but after seeing those cucumber rolls I'm very curious! I love cucumber and it looked delicious!!
+beautygirly624 It seriously is! I LOVE regular sushi... but that cucumber gives it such a nice crunch and so much fresh flavor!
I love to get the bowl at a Mongolian grill, but I am never sure which sauces and spices are actually "healthier," but I'm not really sure where to go to get the nutrition information on them.
oh gotcha! I don't think I've been there!
Very true! This is definitely Westernized. I have had more traditional and simple sushi at one location in LA and it's so very different!
I always get a veggie roll and a tofu roll, if they have it!
I have been to a lot of sushi places in my town and never seen a cucumber roll. I really want to try that, it's sounds amazing! 🍣
I enjoy it!
Can you do a video on healthy and unhealthy sandwich meats? And maybe show us a few alternatives to replace the meats??
+He Ro thank you for the suggestion :)
You put so much work and research into these videos, I want you to know I greatly appreciate it!! Sushi is one of my favorite foods on this earth
+Nicole Romero thank you so much! I really do appreciate your comment
Mind Over Munch You're very welcome! RUclips is NOT an easy job and you do it very well. Sushi makes the world better. haha
My pleasure! So glad you found it useful. I agree, the white rice is better but it's so many carbs. I'd rather go without rice though than with brown!
And who eats one roll? At the sushi restaurants i go to, they serve the sushi in packs of 5 or more, depending on the type of sushi.
Well there are usually 6-8 pieces in one roll. So the roll is the entire 6-8 pieces :)
Love you
This was just what I was looking for today. I found this while eating sushi for lunch. Thanks for the info!
That's awesome! Always a pleasure :)
Thank you for all the info☺️ I love your videos
My pleasure! Thank you!
Maybe one for Starbucks☕🍵💚❤
+Simply Sophia nice! I love starbucks :) Great suggestion!
+Mind Over Munch OMG thank you for replying I really appreciate it.😄 I literally freaked out😂
And I also love Starbucks🍵
I just discovered your channel and still going through your videos.
The past few years we've been making several cross country drives per year and the healthy options while on the road are seemingly non existent. Any tips you can offer for the road that you either buy or take?
Thank you for all the work you put into gathering all the information you do!
+rinoa97 Great suggestion, thank you very much! I will add it to the list :) Cheers!
Even though I hate fish, I appreciated this video. Good info! I love this series! Please continue this series!
Absolutely! Thank you :)
Hi, really love your videos. They are really helpful, I'm starting a healthier lifestyle but love seafood, do you think maybe you could do a video on seafood and its pros and cons.
+Stephanie Negron thank you! and thanks for the suggestion :)
Hi there,
Would you be able to give the macro break down of a plain avocado roll? Is it a healthy alternative?
+Jessica Miller Hi, I share some breakdowns in the video :) Others can be found online. Cheers!
Great vid, but why no breakdowns of sashimi? It clearly must be the healthiest option, right?
It definitely is, I acknowledge sashimi in the video :) I wanted to spend time on the more deceiving rolls because it's less obvious that they're less good choices :)
Currently working on my diet and your videos are very informative.
+Lily Magana awesome! Thank you!
I have never tried sushi but thank you for the information.
My pleasure!
I always eat everything but the rice when I get sushi. I will have to ask if they can just do it without. I can't wait until we get Poke bowls here in Calgary. It's like the inside of a roll in a bowl😉
YES poke bowls are so good! One of my go-to healthy meals!! :)
