What engine options come for the Limited?
I know you guys metioned Tux Mat in some of your videos, did you have a coupon code?
The fact Toyota kept the Extended cab not just the crew is so good
It's basically a single cab now with a bit of room to store stuff. No doors or seats. Doesn't seem like a bad compromise though. Probably removed the seats and door for crash testing.
Toyota Salesman in Ontario Canada here. There is no Access cab/single cab available for this truck in Canada at least. It only comes as the bigger cab here. Been selling Toyota's for 7 years at a high volume dealer and we maybe sold 5 or 6 Access Cabs a year. Hence discontinuing it here.
@@TheJoncic I think that's awesome to be honest. It's more old school without the doors even.
Because some people still believe that pickups should have two doors.
And long bed option
The clip of the GMC Canyon flipping got me scared there for a second...
Edit: LOL why is that the most viewed part??? haha
"I would love to see you get in an accident." - Yuri
Right?
You don't really know a man until you've seen him in a car accident.
We just need a jakub shaped crash test dummy -yuri
🤔
This gives off "I'm gonna rub some dirt in your eye" vibes
Love mid size trucks but can't see myself dropping $70k on any trim level. Tough times.
Soon 100k
Shouldn't be too crazy with steep competition.
I like the Tundra hints in the design. Can’t wait to see the new 4Runner … eventually.
Hints?
The TRD Pro pricing is going to be disgustingly priced.
Ya if this TRD off-road is $58,000 cad max then the pro is going to start at $70,000 and just go up 😢
@@andriodman1old one was mid 70 ish for pro. New one will be 78-83 is my guess
@@gunsmokezz That's not true. A 2023 TRD pro Tacoma is $64kCAD before tax. This one will probably start at $70kCAD before taxes if the price increase remains consistent. Quite frankly, that's way too much for a truck in the Tacoma's class.
@@shikcheese3234ford Ranger Raptor starts at $80,000 Canadian, which is where I think the top Tacoma will be too, the trail hunter one
@@gunsmokezz Plus dealer markups
StraightPipes and Savagegeese Tacoma reviews in my inbox this morning. Which to watch first? Do I want to be entertained or depressed? Hmmm.
“Do you feel that if you’re tall, everything costs $30k more?” 😂😂😂😭
Couldn’t fit into a cx9. Had to wait and pay more for a cx90. Right?? right???
Wrong. lol
There is definitely a “tall tax”. You have to buy bigger things and also bang your head into things more often. But it evens out with being able to see farther, reach more stuff, and people don’t pick on you as much.
Everything I've ever bought hasn't cost more because I'm taller. Yes, hitting my head on things does happen a lot. Maybe I've lost $30,000 in wages over time from damaged brain cells
Another side benefit is friends can find you more easily in a crowd. Especially, with a "loud" hat on!🤠
I like how everyone acts like this is the only midsize truck worth buying. The new colorado/canyon trucks are incredibly capable, more so than the tacoma, and the ranger raptor will be in a completely different ball park than both of them.
I can’t wait to see this channel when they do the review for the Toyota Land Cruiser!!!
The canyon tipping over gave me a heart attack
Am a Toyota & Ford fan but when it comes to looks of all the four midsize pick up trucks am loving the GMC Canyon.,& the engine sounds better than the Toyota's(iv yet to hear the Ford).
i agree with that. I want to like the taco but something about it looks odd. maybe it needs to grow on me.
9:06 that right there is a symptom of reliability.
Toyota did well with this update. They only addressed the issues people complained about, such as the uncomfortable seating position, gear-hunting transmission, and drum brakes, without making unnecessary changes. It's unfortunate that the extended cab with the 6-foot bed isn't offered in Canada.
They got rid of the Chinsey C channel frame that had rust issues but they added a turbo 4 and almost priced them selves into the full size market...
They didn't quite resolve the less hp and torque or the horrible back seat space. But at least they raised the drivers seat.
Pretty sure getting rid of the V6 wasn't what people wanted
@marklihsu that's because sheeple don't know what is best. This turbo 4 is better than the v6. The v6 was a dog of an engine. They see a bigger number and instantly think it's better. Shows how wrong people are.
@@elche1976 They could have added more gears to the transmission and revised the V6 for long term reliability. Nissan did just this.
now, a true Puto Taco with those aftermarket looking turn signals at the bottom
I’m going for the Frontier Pro 4X. That NA V6 is just so dependable
Such a gross interior though
@@MrBobbyBrown2006trade offs
@@MrBobbyBrown2006I like it
the seats are so comfortable, ride is excellent on the pro4x, and way less noise than last gen Taco
3rd Gen blows that engine out the water
Can't believe taco grew this much. It's a 🌯now.
Embargo is clearly over, just got like a dozen notifications for all my channels. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for always watching and commenting ❤️
At 6'5" (no half) my biggest beef with my '08 Taco is the seat to floor distance; this higher seat really looks nice. Although not having a car payment for the last 14 years has been nice, too. Hmmm....
Yeah, that’s always been a deal breaker for me at 6’4”. I’m sure you get used to it but, having own many other domestic trucks, the car like seating position in a Tacoma is super uncomfortable.
That’s like the biggest complaint, even for people much shorter than you. I have no clue how they let that slide for so long. I still have no clue how it sold so well.
6'4" and that's why I went with a 4runner over a Taco despite really wanting the Taco. Even the 4runner is tough for me unfortunately, but my friend's Taco is unbearable if you have long legs.
Have you tried the seat jackers?
65k with tax for trd offroad I can imagine the TRD Pro is going to be close to 75k with tax :(
I think Chevy copied the looks of the new Tacoma. Just like the other brands have done for years from the RAV4 to the Highlander, etc, etc.
6:53 Sounds like a Sears mini bike, the one with the Briggs engine and pull start from the seventies. If you're watching this Toyota, don't be stupid. Give us a V6 option.Goodness knows the truck is heavy enough to warrant one.
I actually thought that the GMC flipped lol
Im here just to appreciate Jakub's watch collection, i love some Pepsi too!!
🤝
I actually think this, the Colorado and the canyon all look pretty sharp
I like my Frontier better. 3.8 liter V6 and a 9 speed is objectively better for a pick up truck
I forget about that truck but I also really liked it - Jakub
Turbo 4 doesn't seem like it's going to have particularly good longevity if you're using your truck as a truck.
7:31 That subtle "art" in the water... Reminds me of savagegeese's
The pricing for these new cars is absolutely insane! I don’t understand how they go from 34K msrp for trd off road to 42,800. And this is excluding the iforcemax engine too. So you’re looking at a mid size truck that used to be affordable to most people, is now more of a luxury car. They gotta do better.
No think about the fact that the Pro version will be a 20k upgrade. Making it impossible for people to even buy cars now a days.
The twins, frontier and new ranger had price jumps also. "Inflation"
Thats plenty of power without overstressing the engine.
That power doesn't go that far when the truck weighs 4700lbs.
It looks like something from a lego set
My heart stopped for a second at 0:59
@0:58 scared the shit outta me, I thought you guys lost it lol
I know you all like tux Mat’s but I personally love 3d max spider floor mats the most.
Sounds like someone who hasn’t actually tried TuxMat 🤔
I'm hearing that the TRD offroad will be around $45k USD. It be hard not to choose the Canyon AT4, for that price. Nicer and more space. From what journalist are saying, much better comfort.
it looks very good with the long bed honestly.
I bought a new Toyota 4x4 truck in 1979 the first year out in the U.S. for $7,100. My how times have changed.
$30k in today's dollar. ALthough, you do get a lot more with the truck nowadys, still ridiculous.
That intro music had some Grateful Dead vibes ☮️
8:44 At 6’4” a Fiesta ST and Jetta GLI are the only vehicles I’ve ever been in where I could put the seat back far enough that I couldn’t reach the pedals properly
Try a cx5 , my tall friend fits in there like a glove with room to spare
The problem is that the steering wheel often won’t come out far enough
Everyone complains about engine downsizing but no one calls the EPA 🤷🏾♂️
With the gmc jump scare. 😂
I hope they bring back the x-runner
Toyotas are never the coolest looking. The “Hype” around Toyotas is the build quality and reliability.
Heck yea always love a Teeyoda video!
Teeeeeeyoda
@@TheStraightPipesPlease do another review for the hybrid. 30 mpg combined with 460 torque is impressive
I'm getting it anyway because I want the manual transmission
I think it looks a bit better. More like a mini tundra, not as bubbly looking.
“They’re not limited, I just deal with everything”-Jakub/Jakob *im not sure so I apologize but I felt it due to us both being 6 foot three
What’s something you’ve had to pay more for or give up on because of your height
i really love toyota suv and pickup thank you
Frontier Pro4x
Trd pro is the only tacoma review people are waiting for
TEE-yota! Cool truck.
Bleeping out Yuri’s USB-C comments was unexpectedly hilarious.
0:59 scared the SHID outta me....damn you both! lol
I think sheldon shouldve done the Tundra instead of sweers. He did such a knock out job with the tacoma. It looks great. The tundra just does not. Good job Toyota!
Gents, I just bought a Tundra... I can confirm it's the same steering wheel!
Definitely belongs in the Tundra
Not sure if you guys ever read the comments- I bought a set of Continental tires for my Blackwing; because they are a sponsor of your channel. When I went to the Conti website to get my rebate, there was a long list of questions on what influenced me to buy. There was TV but no RUclips option. I found no where to attribute the purchase to you guys. FYI
I’m so happy they are coming back as a manual transmission
I dunno, I kind of like the look of the new Canyon AT4 more. I’ll take the Toyota reliability over the GMC, but the new Canyon looks sweet.
Tacomas have always had weird ergonomics for me. I could never get the seat and steering wheel in a comfortable spot.
i am glad they worked on that.
i agree. I wish the steering wheel came a bit further towards me.
Toyota continuing to gate keep blind spot monitoring to higher trims and packages is not excusable
Im going to get the trail killer 🎉🎉
Got more views than the canyon reviews in under ten days
It is a Tacoma after all
The front looks like a Chinese panda 🐼
In 15 year's time people will be swapping this engine in their old school 80s solid axle toyota pickups
A little British voiceover here and there is awesome! 🇬🇧
It’s like cheating, it makes everything you say sound smarter
Another awesome video guys keep up the good work. 🙂👍
I have two Tacos and I love them!
Tacoma embargo is over?! Woohoo!!
Can't wait to compare the actual tacoma trim that compares to that top trim GMC. Ride and power.
Ya it might have been the the most important truck of the year but they jumped on the 4-cylinder band wagon and got rid of the V6 sad days for Tacoma drivers
They get a diesel GR Hilux down in Mexico. If that ever made it up here I would call that truck of the decade.
Mexico gets like 15 more small trucks than the US. They'll only sell us overpriced luxury trucks here, it's sad.
@@samd1405Yeah there’s tons of cool base model cheap cars in Mexico. In the US we get the expensive models
Pros - Exterior design looks nice, Cons - All digital gauges, ,4cyl turbo/ hybrid 8sp transmission will be less reliable and expensive for (Long term) users. I honestly feel Toyota is jumping on the band wagon for cheap thrills tech for the new generation of drivers and the new era of disposal vehicle's where nothing last for 10yrs now which is sad because they were the pioneers for long lasting reliable cars. People also need to be more vocal on car channels to be pushing back on things we don't want or we will be having crap going forward. The manufactures do look at comments to see what people think, for how much vehicle's cost now we do not need them telling us what we think we would like versus what we want.
Considering it's a similar platform to other Yotas, I'm interested to see the tuning options. No reason to not expect affordable stage 1 flashes to open up over 300 like other turbo platforms.
I spot a Pepsi GMT! Just as badass as the Taco 😍
Thanks! More on my insta
Jakub, your backup opinion just gave me the courage to go with a 13.5" vs 15" stock-size steering wheel in my OBS Chevy lol!
Perfect!
The best part about buying a GMC canyon is the comfortable seats they having in the waiting room of the service department of the dealership.
I wish we had this in my country all we get is the hilux
I'll take it, hopefully the hybrid will give it 50 extra HP, I hope Toyota put some forged parts in the engine so we can add BOOOOOOST .............
I bet that synchronized visor routine took some practice. 😂
Very nice of you to made a coalition with 2 other car channels and upload a same video at the same time!) oh it’s actually 3 other channels. Do we need so much the same car videos I wonder? 😂)
Looks much better than the new Tundra
You know what would be the most malicious thing ever? Putting elevator music over the best part
I would personally have the 4.0 litre engine. Thats why I go to Mexico and buy a truck there. You can still get brand new FJ Cruisers. Put a Supercharger on the 4.0 litre and it blows the doors off the new TRD Pro Tacoma. Thats a real truck. If you are really saucy, you can get a truck with the Turbo Diesel.
Everything costing $30k more if you are tall is a ridiculous statement that I am now realizing has been completely true all my life.
I even made a custom sized desk & bathroom counter just so I don't have to bend down so much.
...I used to think the SUV trend of splitting low-beams and high beams apart from DRLs looked fugly. but seeing how high the headlights look on the tacoma, not neven a full size pickup... and imagining them blinding me in my sedan/wagon regularly when these things are everywhere... I'm starting to find the split headlight idea less offensive.
So it rides rough, goes slow, costs 5k+ more than the last year, small cabin, no rear doors on access cab...got it. What exactly does this do well? It's got a frame and rear disk brakes, welcome to 1995. The v6 in previous generation was perhaps the worst engine/trans combo ever put into a truck, so I'm not shocked if this performs better. This thing is full size truck priced and no more fuel efficient either. Really don't get it whatsoever.
we need something like a Tacoma V8 or Tacoma GR
Lowered Tacoma-GR with the twin-turbo V6 from the Tundra and Sequoia would be cool.
I see y’all changing the thumbnail to differentiate from all the other vids released today. Good for yall.
I’m trying whatever I can lol
Can’t wait for y’all to test drive the PRO and Trailhunter
8:00 did Yuri shift into park while driving full speed? 😂 the editing made my butt pucker a bit
It would just give an error message you can’t go into park while moving
If you to got R at speed in the current Tacoma it flips the backup cam on by design.
Considering the premium mark up most new Toyotas get i probably would be looking more at the ranger with 2.7 or the frontier
Not all dealers are selling Tacos with markups, my local dealer is selling at msrp and some of their Tacos are even listed under MSRP
@@RidgeRunner4501 for the outgoing model? or for 2024 model?
But then you’re gonna have all those problems! Toyota avoids all that
Check tsp.truecar.com for in-stock discounted price offers
@@ZacksWildby going with a turbo engine now like all the other mfg except frontier? Toyota is good but turbos run really hot. Toyota can't escape physics and metallurgical limitations.
I’ll take the Nissan Frontier pro 4X with the V6 👍🏻
Tacoma keeps their value
Scrolled past Doug’s video to watch yours. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
Thanks!
Id take a ZR2 or Bison
Wtf was that in the beginning 😂😂 0:59
think im gonna stick with my 2011 6mt
Looking forward to the yuri's intrusive thoughts compilation
Let's just get to the new 4Runner already
I like the3 exterior least (only because ford, gm, Nissan) have stepped up their design. I think they went to edgy on the design but damn the interior is cool. If i had money i would get GMC, but i would probably still get Tacoma (not trd) for reliability.
