I HIGHLY recommend going to his shop so he can take the measurements in person. If you do it yourself, you're really taking a chance. And with the waits so long and the prices so high, you don't want to make a mistake. @@almostvintagestyle
Never seen your old vids but this is great. The longer, less edited style of reviews are a lot more genuine I find and it gives you time to actually explain the boots lol! Don’t try to break your back to please ppl asking for short vids, they probably don’t even watch them all anyways ! Keep it up man can’t wait to see what else you have to show us
His old videos were gold! He was reviewing leathers no one had touched yet. Also talking about boot makers outside U.S. like Flame Panda. Throwing out tons of experience.
Totally agree with you about the types of videos to make. I take the same approach, minimal to zero editing. If it’s not fun then why do it. Also totally agree with the Role Clubs being shockingly light and small compared to other engineers. It still kind of blows my mind haha.
The reviews are great. Screw perfection. I’m here for information. I’d totally get some but I’m too impatient to wait 2 yrs. After 4 yrs of wearing I think you’re qualified to comment 😄
One thing I will say, Brian does is handwelting, last I checked, similar to how early goodyear welt was done where a machine was used to cut a flap and then turn them up. Unless he changed, he doesn't curve the holdfast in a way clinch does or high end bespoke shoes do. Early on in the goodyear welt, they recognized (according to DW frommer) this wasn't durable and would reinforce with gemming and eventually just switched to gemming. Brian basically just does the goodyear welted way by hand and without reinforcing with gemming, so it wouldnt surprise me if something like Lofgrens that seem to use a gemming that take up most of the area of the insole (or maybe reinforced with something) are actually more durable.
Nice! I got a new place in SF (rent controlled!) and moved in with my partner since then as well. And got my first Japanese leather. Onward and upward! Congratulations!
I really enjoyed this video, man!! As I’ve said before, hearty congratulations on the marriage, and hearty ‘welcome back’ on the RUclips channel. And thanks for the shoutout; that’s a massive honor. Glad you’re back….And yeah, RC prices have almost doubled now 😳😄, but I’m thinking it’s totally worth it (though I don’t have mine yet).
I have recently taken the plunge into the awesome world of engineer boots and ordered a pair of John Lofgrens. When the time eventually comes to get them resoled, could you recommend any cobblers who could restore the boots to the originally designed standards?
@@almostvintagestyle that's awesome I just assumed that you influenced her because I don't think I've seen an Americana or whatever the style is called woman in person before. I've seen pin up girls role playing for cars shows but that's about it 🤔
Welcome back and congratulations on the marriage!
Thanks so much Carl! Really appreciate it!
Love my RC Engineer boots. Just got a pair of Underdogs as well. Wear them every day. Never gets old.
Very nice! He nails the fit.

I dig your reviews, Jake. Inspires me to explore items I never thought I’d be interested in. Watching all your engineer vids now.
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoy them. Hope you like the engineer vids!
@@almostvintagestyle very much so. If Quan gets my sizing right on my lace to toe, I'd like his engineer. Its my fav judging from pictures

@@liljuanito123 thanks so much! I really appreciate that!
Brian has amazingly designed models. It was so hard choosing which one to have made
That's the 'worst' thing about his boots haha!
Sad to hear your old vids are not making a return. They were a good source of info and definitely influenced some of my purchasing decisions.
Well I will try to recreate as many of them as possible

Yeah man I'd rather have fun than make something perfect. And yeah super light, but amazing

Haha thank you! Yes the wait is quite long. If I didn't have a pair I think I would stomach that wait time

Interesting information. When did you last check on this? I believe you, I'm just curious about it.

In SF, too. Congrats on the rent-controlled digs!
Congrats dude that's awesome!
Congratulations of the marriage mate nice to see you back on this platform
Thank you so much!
Instant subscriber and follower. Love your work!!!
I enjoy longer in-depth breakdowns/reviews but as a viewer I like when creators use timestamps in case I want to come back and rewatch certain parts.
Fair point, but I'm kind of all over the place with what I'm talking about haha!
I like your videos. You convinced me to get an Aero jacket, and now I'm looking at the Grant Stone boots because of your videos as well.
Glad to hear it! Hope you're happy with the jacket!
This is such a great day. Miss the vids Jake! Glad you're back.
Thanks! I really appreciate that
I've been looking for your channel for a while man. I'm really glad you're back and hearty congratulations on your marriage. Cheers

John has told me that you can actually send the boots back to Japan to his company and they will resole them.
@@almostvintagestyle Okay that is great to know! No better place than right to the source!
Great you’re back! 👍🏻
Thank you so much!
Glad to see you’re back😎👍👍
Thanks! It's good to be back
Great review, as always. Thanks Jake!
Thanks! I appreciate it!!
Welcome back bro
Thanks very much!
Nice video and review. Glad you’re back

Missing the podcasts dude! Also major ups on getting hitched. Marriage's been the best ever for me.
Thanks! Been the best for me too👍
I really like that hat. Great video.
Thanks! I love hats
You should have model them for us man
Yeah but like I said, I want to enjoy this and I just don't enjoy doing b roll. But I'll consider it
What kind of Henley is that?
It's a long sleeve model from The Real McCoys. Got it at Standard and Strange
FINALLY!!!!!!
Thanks!
Would love to see a closed up video man!!!
I'll try to include more close up pics in the future
Is vintage feather her own stylist or are you her stylist or both? 🤔
Her style is all her own! If anything, she's taught me more
