  • Who makes the best engineer boot? There’s a few bootmaker at the top of the community when it comes to engineer boots and they are Brass Tokyo and ‪@BrianTheBootmaker‬. This is a comparison of these makers and my experience.

    Man, even getting your hands on either of these two seems like a real chore.

    Well done. Excellent comparison. For my money, and taste in boots, the Role Club just does it for me. But that's purely subjective. They're both a work of art in their right. Cheers......🥃

    Outstanding review. I really appreciated the effort you put into the comparison of those two engineer boots. I’m in the market for my first pair of engineer boots and your review has been of great help. Thank you.

    This was an OUTSTANDING review! Excellent work on the quality and content of your channel.
    Of course, it's a matter of taste, but Role Club wins in my book. American boot, made by an American master craftsman, the choice was easy for me. Not to mention, Brian is as good as they come. My Role Club Engineers are by far my most complimented boot. Buy American 🇺🇸

    an actual engineer boot comparison this is amazing! I have some Mr Lous and love em, but I remember feeling it was impossible to find comparisons between engineer boots online before buying them

      I appreciate you! Yeah I guess I’m the only one not afraid of the big industrial handmade boot complex.
      lol
      I’m joking but it was extremely odd there’s no real comparisons out there.

    Clinch is using the British sizing standard, hence the US size is one down from the Clinch designation. That said, I find my Clinch engineers a big snug and have sized up a half or even a full size from Brannock (I prefer a roomy fit). YMMV. Lovely review!

    • @Shellvedge
      @Shellvedge  4 месяца назад

      Glad you enjoy them! I think you’ve got the sizing reversed though.
      Mine are Clinch 10h, US9h UK 9.
      UK sizing is 1 number lower than US sizing. 10.5 CN=9.5US=9UK

    Man, you have just made engineer boot review history on RUclips. Congrats. I’ve been wanting a video like this for a long time. What size Brannock are you?

    • @jr-zo9gi

      Looks like you really sized up quite a bit for the clinch. I’m not sure they even make my size. Seems like the highest they go is US 11. 11 is my standard US sizing, but it sounds like I would have to go up in Clinch.

      Thanks @jr-zo9gi !
      Yeah I was honestly shocked no one had done a proper comparisons or sharing of observations about these 2 within the same piece of content.
      Check out 4:22 of the video. It should give you the info you need.

      @@jr-zo9gi my pair is on the CN last, which is their original engineer last design anatomically for a more far eastern demographic. Hence the narrow and lower instep.
      But most stores like standard and strange, or some of the sellers in Europe use the Clinch wide last (CW?). So the sizing adaptation may differ.
      But ultimately, the clinch size is +1 of the US size. On the box it’ll say clinch “11” or clinch “10h” (h=half) and then US “10” and US “9h” respectively.

      Oh, I watched the whole video! Great video, by the way. I was just curious to know if that sizing you provided was reflective of your actual Brannock. Sometimes they differ. My brannock says I’m 11 1/2, but I wear 10 1/2 in most brands, like the Viberg service boot. 11 in some others.

      @@Shellvedge Going based off this video and your other clinch engineer review, it seems you sized up (in U.S sizing) 1 full size is that correct? Your Brannock is 8.5E, but you purchased a 9.5 CN in engineers. How does the Clinch feel walking around overall? Is your foot snug, roomy etc?
      I ask because I'm a 10.5c/b and I fall into a hard category to size. I purchased a pair of 10.5 CN last engineers and they still fit me loose :(. I only sized .5 up since I heard these were really narrow, but I ended up running inserts and thick socks. Still a half size off it seems.
      Great video by the way. Would love to see a follow up once you get more time to wear.

    How was your experience of dealing with Brian?

  • @woemyrom996

    at 4:00 the whole no return policies on these high end boots make it a real gamble. 28E = 8.5D US, yet your Clinch size is 9.5 US. I emailed Brian the bootmaker, my standard boot size and measurements 9 for boots 9.5 for lofgren engineers and most sneakers and he said the size for engineers and Underdogs is 27.5E, yet you said 28E/8.5DUS yet I'm a whole size bigger than you. I don't know if I measured my feet wrong or something. Man I feel like Pythagoras/Sherlock trying to get the sizing down on either these puppies. both amazing though.

    • @Shellvedge
      @Shellvedge  3 месяца назад +1

      Shoe sizes are misleading because it becomes a numeric hang up on a subjective number.
      When you go off of measurements the size number is meaningless. Just communicate with him, tell him where you have fitting concerns or where you want to ensure there is enough room. It’s in his interest to get it right otherwise he will have an extremely angry customer. So I’d defer to his judgement when it comes to measurements and continue to ask and clarify until you’re comfortable.
