This is a very interesting take on the simple stitch. I don't really like working the simple stitch, I don't like the look of the fabric it builds, but this alternative makes just enough difference. And the back side does look much much better when using this version. Thank you for sharing!

You can choose any bind off method you like, I usually bind off with a slip stitch - you would make a modified simple stitch but instead of adding a loop on the hook, you'd slip it through the loop that was on the hook. This is just like traditional crochet where you'd complete a stitch before moving on to the next.

I agree, this is a great stitch to replace the simple stitch. It works up beautifully and the reverse side is so much nicer too!
