    Your sentiments about travel photography really resonate with me. All I do lately is work. It’s really left me no creative outlets I can dedicate time to. This wasn’t just a camera review, it was a dissertation in multimedia form. Thank you for sharing.

    Thanks Jack, love the vids so far, sorry have not commented sooner, still getting through your library. Would however love to see some pics of Oz as it seems to be Japan centered. Otherwise fantastic scripts, production quality and love the thought psychological aspect you bring into most vids….

    I'm so glad I found your video, I used to take self portraits as a way to express myself, but I didn't even bother on posting them, and some time after, I didn't even continue to take photos, all because I felt "bored". Your video has make me get up, and get my camera again.

      Thank you so much for sharing Eduardo - most of us started photography for ourselves, and it got muddled up somehow along the way. This year I’m shooting for myself, and sharing the lessons learnt on RUclips. Thanks for watching, more content to come!

    Great video, Jack! I recently learned about 'kaizen' from a podcast and your video reminded me to apply it to yearly goal challenges. I am starting to get into photography, so this video and your therapy channel are inspiring! I don't know where to start yet, as there are tonnes of cameras and lenses out there but researching this process will get me somewhere shortly :)

      @@BokehTherapy Thank you! So, currently looking at the stock within Australia, within my budget of $1000~$1500 and my short listings are:
      1) Panasonic G85
      2) Panasonic G9
      3) Sony 6400
      I am trying to get a decent body, and save more for the lens as I move forward! Was also looking at GR III but it is out of stock everywhere.. hahaha guess your video made this happened Jack ;)

      @@sgwnbe4everthese are all crop-sensor (micro 4/3, APS-C) cameras - is this to keep the size and weight down? How about Fujifilm? The XS10/XS20/XT30 should be within this price range new. You should consider second hand? A used Fujifilm XT3/XT4/XT5 (APS-C) or Sony A7III/A7C (full-frame) should all be around that price point. Camera bodies get outdated more quickly than lenses, so get the best body you can afford to save up more for lenses. Let me know what you go with!

    • @sgwnbe4ever
      @sgwnbe4ever 7 месяцев назад

      @@BokehTherapy Thanks again, Jack. Is there a particular reason that you are recommending Fujifilm cameras? I haven't got to Fujifilm yet other than X100V.

    • @BokehTherapy
      @BokehTherapy  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think Fujifilm are innovating the most in APS-C sensor cameras? Film simulations are also great for getting started without editing too much. X100V has all the buzz but something with interchangeable lenses works best. If you want to go full frame there are other options but I think Fujifilm is great for APS-C photography

    Love your channel Jack. It's been a bright spot in the morass that is youtube. I'm wondering if you have ever tried the RX100 for travel? I always travel with a FF A series (or two) but having the RX100 in a pocket is an intriguing proposition. I'm trying to be mindful of The Diderot Effect (thanks for that video) and have actually resisted the RX100 for some time but find myself considering it again. A friend who is a photographer and educator took his kids out of school for a year and traveled all over the world with one in his pocket for those moments when pulling out his full-size gear wasn't appropriate, and his results have rekindled my interest. I have 3 A series bodies, myriad native lenses and an RX10 so I'm pretty much all in on the Sony system. Thanks again for your content, it is really refreshing and thought provoking.

      I have never tried the RX100, but have heard great things! Some rumors about Sony upgrading that body this year, we can hope! Thanks for watching and your feedback - I love making these videos so hope they reach more people on the platform. Happy shooting!

    I thought long and hard about purchasing the GRIIIX for the exact reasons you name, and decided to hold off. I ended up finding an inexpensive Lumix LX7 to see if I liked "premium compact" photography at all. Interestingly, taking the small sensor in to account, I take more "un-boring" shots with that LX7 than with my A7 now, because the camera is always with me, whereas pulling out the A7 is an Event or whatever. Just the law of large numbers at work, but it makes me realize that it's not the arrow, but the archer, as you say.

    • @BokehTherapy
      @BokehTherapy  7 месяцев назад

      Yes there’s something about smaller cameras! I had an A1 but sold it in the end to go for the A7CR plus some lenses for that exact reason. Thanks for watching!

  • @BenjaminSandness
    @BenjaminSandness Месяц назад

    I’ve been giving the GRIIIX serious thought as a pocketable EDC camera. This is a niche I haven’t been able to suitably fill ever. The irony is that the Ricoh is so susceptible to sensor dust that carrying it in a pocket might be the worst thing for it. Any thoughts on this conundrum?

    • @BokehTherapy
      @BokehTherapy  Месяц назад +1

      My GRIIIx Broke - lens warped and stopped fully retracting. I think these cameras are too fragile considering the high price tag?

    very insightful and different point of view. I've heard of kaizen quite a while ago, lovely concept. i wanted to pick up a small camera to take around everywhere, but i ended up still using my mirrorless more and getting used to having it around

      any chance you can do a video about GAS and always thinking of buying new lens or gear instead of enjoying the current gear you have? I'd like to hear your take on this topic. I'm currently stuck in considering buying a standard zoom for photographying my children, but for the past 10 years, i've been using my 35/1.8 and 50/1.8 combo without any issues, but been having gear lust recently. thanks!
