I just bought the Canon M50 a few weeks ago to add to my Go Pro camera, and I am very impressed with the 15MM-45MM kit lens that came with it. Nice video. Subbed!
@@JP1970 Oh for sure... I've had a ton of success with with the off brand ones from Amazon and a dual charger... One of the weak points of the camera is the battery life but the batteries and tiny and cheap so for me no big deal.
7 months ago I bought an eos m100 with this lens. making it a very small and pocket-friendly camera. For a lens with larger aperture I used Meike 35mm f1.7, the size of this lens is also small. Perfect for traveling.
That is really one of the better reviews for this Lens and camera. I am looking to replace my old Canon 7D. There is a reason they put these kit lenses on these bodies.
Thanks for the compliment. I've been using this combination for just about a year now and still use it every day. I started a new 365 project this year at donchaknow.me, which I've used this lens and camera combo for most of the photos. The 7D is an amazing sports camera. Lately I've had a a bunch of success doing indoor sports (basketball) with the m50, and while I would grab the m50 first for traveling the 7D is a hard camera to beat for certain uses. Once again assuming you care about sports and a fast FPS (for photography not video) make sure you use the "sports" mode for the m50. For some reason shooting any other mode with the "High Speed Continuous" the buffer fills up very fast.
Love your presentation style. You make complex information approachable. Keep this up and its just a matter of time before you become a goto reviewer for whatever you choose to focus upon.
Haha…. Yeah I can only imagine. I need to do an updated review as I recently moved to the m50 MKII. The short version. If you have the m50 don’t upgrade but if you are buying it for the first time, the MKII has a few nice features that are welcome.
Ahhh that’s a good comparisons idea, I’d have to figure out a way to get my hands on one, but the 250 aka SL cameras from Canon were really appealing when they first came out but now with the M50 and M50MKII I haven’t looked at them. In this case the M50 and the 250 has the same sensor and DIGIC8 processor. They both have the flip screen but the big differences are going to be the 250 (SL3) has the native EF /EFS mount, optical viewfinder. Where the m50 has the m mount (but you can adapt it to EF/EFS) and the EV viewfinder. I don’t know how I’d get my hands on one but let me see what I can do.
Oh for sure... I used this setup m50 + 15-45mm with OBS using the Canon Web Utility - I eventually switched to the 22mm f/2 ef-m, but the stock lens is good as long as you give it enough light.
As long as you don't drop the camera and hit the lens, the plastic mount is okay, but the plastic will likely break if the lens hits a hard surface with force.
Hello. I have had this lense since May and now cannot get it to fully unlock. So now I cannot take pictures until I get past this mishap function. Can you assist?
I read in your comment below that you swapped over to the 22mm lens. Do you still use the 15-45mm lens at all? I find it quite sharp as well and love the flexibility of 15-45mm, however I do have the 22mm lens as well, sometimes it just feels restraining having to stick at one focal length and also the narrower range of 22mm vs 15mm. What are your thoughts? Great presentation.
As like most situations it depends... If I was taking one lens with me it would be the 15-45mm, as you mentioned it sharp and super versatile. If I knew I was going to be going out at night though and taking a bunch of photos in lowlight ... the 22mm would be the one I'd grab. That's actually exactly what I did when I went to a friends wedding as a guest, I knew it was outdoors and night so I grabbed the 22mm and it was perfect.
Hey I was looking at getting a cannon m50 for vloffing fishing videos, do you think that would be a good camera for that or should I get something else
It so hard to find a bad camera now a days. For the price this camera is still super easy to recommend, if you are ok with a few compromises. 1. The native lens selection is small, however with a cheap adapter you can have access to any EF lens Canon has made over the last 20 years 2. 4K recording is not usable for vlogging . 1080p works perfect since it uses Canons great dual pixel autofocus . With the price, flip / tilt screen and small and light form factor this is a great all around vlogging / photo camera
I got this lens and I love it! Especially considering that I am learning, it's really easy to get some nice shots. But I did notice some vignetting in most of my pictures using focal length of 15mm, but disappears when I use 45mm. Is this normal for this particular lens? Or could it be because of the sensor/camera?
From what I can tell it’s the lens. I guess I haven’t really been bothered by it as I tend to add vignetting to many of my images. And in the cases I don’t want to see it, I reverse it in Lightroom. All that said, my copy of the lens’s doesn’t seem to have a strong vignette, do you have any sample images?
devansh kulshreshtha good question! The viewfinder in this one is great in my opinion. I’ve used it for real photo shoots and never felt like it was too laggy or too small. I recently picked up a m6 MKII and while it is superior in video capabilities the viewfinder is so bad I would hate to use it for an actual photo shoot.
I just thought about this one caveat... from a photography only stand point I do still prefer the optical viewfinder vs the mirrorless cameras I've had experience with, optical just "feels" better (IMO). However with face and eye detection from the mirrorless side, I think you'll have more "hits" than you might have if you are coming from the optical viewfinder world, and in the end you'll likely have a better product.
Greetings from Somalia, please make more video about canon m50 it's the go to youtuber camera, never knew the technical aspect behind the crop factor.. Thanks

Good question. I can’t answer from a position of personal experience since I haven’t done much in the way of real estate photography. Just playing around I can confirm it’s wide enough to capture a room without obvious barrel distortion. And at the wide end (15mm) it’s fast enough (f/3.5) for handheld indoor photos especially with the image stabilization. But you may use a tripod anyway.
