Im in design motion graphics class and he assigned an assignment where we have to use the puppet tool and i was so confused, you’re literally a life saver !! i wouldve never gotten this done w out this video
I've been hunting for clear and descriptive puppet pin tutorials tonight, and this is by far the best one I've found. Damn nice work! Showing that you can change the type of pin in the effects panel is super helpful. But most helpful is showing you do the standard pins, then the starch pins before you do the animated pins. And that you can use the advanced pin for animation. All of that has taught me more than a bunch of other tutorials I've watched tonight. Thanks bud!
Agreed - this is a wonderful primer. Looking forward to exploring more tutorials from Boone Loves Video. I'm late to this one, but it's the clearest demo I've seen so far.
Dude, I spent almost 3 days trying to figure out whether I wanted to rig, tween or do a frame by frame animation. None of those options felt particularly intuitive. I discovered pins using AE and I watched your tutorial to get started. This method is easily going to cut my project time in half. I'm excited to do my animation now!
I use the puppet tool for almost all my animations, like the last ones I just upload to my channel with Godzilla and other monsters dancing , I think these new features would be great for me.
Is there a way to save a characters walk cycle for use in another episode? Or do you have to recreate the walk cycle for each new project? Also thanks for your tutorial !! It really helped out a lot!!! :)
@@BooneLovesVideo ahhh okay... so like copying the sequence from the old project file and then pasting (ctr-v) into the new project? for the same character...
TNice tutorials is by far, the best tutorial I have found so far. I feel like I’ll be spending a lot of ti on your channel! Thanks man! Keep up the good
Uuuuugh these new features are perfect for my uses... Thanks for the straightforward video! It’s nice to see an after effects video not be 45 minutes long. This was nice and to the point, helped me learn the new tools pretty easily! Cheers for that!
I saw this video , years ago, I forgot the creadors name. I was looking for this video , it was difficult for me to find it. I got it!! o be honest, you are one of the best teaching animation in after effects. Thank you.
Great tutorial video! I really appreciate that you're zooming in when you're clicking something. Other tutorial videos don't do that so it's hard to see what and where they're clicking TwT! Thank you so much!
I’m taking a motions one class. I’m supposed to make an object move naturally with a motions path. I’m using a hummingbird. Would using the puppet tool and creating a motions path be the easiest quickest way to go? Your teaching skills have helped so much by the way. I’ve only been using After Effects for a week and already learned a lot from you.
great guide, your guide is first which simply but clearly explains how to apply puppet tool for animating, does this option work for images created in adobe photoshop too ? I noticed that all guides had images imported from AI.
If I can't get tNice tutorials soft, the other option is to purchase a keyboard with the softs already installed [Roland VR-09]. If I have to go tNice tutorials
It's a huge improvement that the new puppet carries scale and rotation properties, very exciting. But it seems that the starch pin of advanced engine works very differently from the legacy one. In advanced engine, the mesh with starch pins will still be flexible which makes it difficult to actually make a "bone". I wonder if there's a way to gain both of the advantages of advanced and legacy engines.
Yeah, not entirely sure. I've seen how you can switch between the two via the dropdown menu, but I don't know enough to understand what's going on there.
Subscribe to the Channel for more puppety goodness!

Ah thanks for saying that. Glad to hear that the tutorial is useful. Thank you so much for watching.

in the details. when you get stuck, roll back to the beginning and start over. The other weay is to focus entirely on one set of commands
Finally, I also hope they improved the stability of this tool. It got corrupted too often.
Seems to work pretty well when I tested it!
Very nice. I don't have experience with puppet tool but I need to give it a try one of these days ;)
It's pretty fun!
click on the magnet, and from there you can adjust how the tracks snap onto the grid. if you want it to be each 1/4 of a bar, click "line"
Simple yet filled with great info! thanks!

You can reuse that sequence as much as you want. If you want to use it on another character, however, then you'd have to recreate it.
