Newbie here! :D How do you access the size property for the ellipse? No one seems to be talking about this anywhere (or my google fu is really just weaksauce.) Thanks! EDIT: NVM! Found it under Ellipse Path. (In the contents dropdown of the shape layer). Leaving this here just in case there are others who needed this info. Thanks!)
I'm still having your problem! I'm working with an illustrator file, and I created shapes from the vector layers. But when I toggle everything down I can't find the 'size' option and it keeps on scaling the stroke.... Does someone has a solution for this? BTW your videos are indeed amazing!!
@@nelebrughmans8379 this one is a bit tricky and requires some expressions. Alt-click the stroke parameter and type in this: s = {pickwhip the shape's scale property here} / 100; value / s[0] Hope this helps!
@@BenMarriott Hi Ben! How do you turn the "Black Cup" in the Main comp? In the comp "Black Cup", the cup is turned in the other direction. I guessed! just need to select "Flip Horizontal"
I have never written a yt comment in my entire life but I just want to express how much I appreciate your tutorials! I click on one expecting to learn the particular thing from the title, and I end up taking notes of all the incredible tips you manage to smuggle into your content. Thank you for making these! (funny thing: I decided to write the comment, scrolled down and saw another person commented the same, I guess this means your tutorials really stand out :) )
Thank you so much Anita! That's so damn nice of you to say. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave such an awesome comment. :D Smuggling in tips was my goal when I started this channel. I've learned so much from watching over the shoulders of colleagues and just talking to them about their files and animation and I wanted to give as close to that experience as possible. I'm so glad that you're finding them useful.
No way!!! You're simply the best! I just found out your channel and I'm in love! You are so talented and your art is so unique! Congratulations, I love it so much!
This might be the first or second time I'm leaving a RUclips comment, and I have consumed a shit ton of RUclips videos in my life. Just never felt the need to write anything. Right now I do : your tutorials are crystal clear, straightforward and also have a nice style. To me this is the best Ae channel I've came across. Keep it up man !
Dude, that so damn nice of you to say. I really appreciate the time you spend to watch some of them and leave a comment. :) It's really awesome to hear that encouragement and know that there will plenty more of these videos coming :D Thanks so much!
Wow. People really don't appreciate just how creative and inventive AE users are. I have a feeling I'll be learning a lot from your channel in the coming weeks.
Ben, I have discovered you today and after watching to 2 videos, I have immediately subscribed. I have seen hundreds of after effects tutorials, but I can say that yours have something different, the vibe and the content. I believe that by then end of this project you will be able to cover a lot of tricks and tips, and this is what the viewer wants to see. Well done again and keep up the great work.
How have I not found your channel before!!! I've been using after effects going on 2 years now but not actively the entire time and only really using it when I had time up until last October when I started getting more serious about it and spending hours watch all sorts of tutorials.. This was on my recommendations and I'm so glad I clicked it cuz even though I know how to use the grid and all the creativity in this was just amazing and gave me some inspiration. I only started using illustrator last week (Just started in motion/visual design school) and hadn't really thought about combining the 2 until now so thank :)
Yes, this format's great. It's also instructive to see the 'fudges' and less-elegant solutions that get used in real projects. Looking forward to a breakdown of the coffeebean-to-cups transition.
Thanks so much! I was getting a big self-conscious about some of my ideas not being the "perfect" way to do something. That so great to hear that seeing the dirty reality that so much animation is a hacked solution to make it work in one specific circumstance. I think I'll show more of that, I don't want to show motion design as this unobtainable standard like photoshoped magazine cover or perfect elegant solution to all problems, haha. :D
Yes! Please continue the deepdives, I really like experiencing the thought processes and workflow elements. Find that super valuable in terms of how I think about my own work and learn from creators a d designers
Thanks so much! Thats great to read :D I really like to explain things thoroughly, It's great to know there's a place for that. These 30 second AE hacks have been poppin' lately so thought that might be the only way to play these days.
