I quite literally almost shed a tear. The concepts explained here can be stretched in so many directions and open up so many possibilities. It also even further deepened my already immense respect for Wonil's work.
Great tutorial! Coming from a 3D background, if you want to mask out your R G B channels, the easiest / cleanest way in AE would be use the "set matte" effect and choose your blue, red or green channel with no funky edges. The gotcha here would be making sure your channels are either 100% red, blue or green for this to work perfectly. Keep up the awesome tutorials!
No need to duplicate comps in order to use them as a matte layer. You can use any layer as a track matte now, for multiple layers, and it doesn't have to be directly above anymore.
I love what you do man….simply beautiful. Do you have tutorials on looping background animation of a road, building and street lights that’s in 1 point perspective either moving forward or backward please? Thanks 🙏
Question from a beginner: What is the benefit to animating a project like this in After Effects as opposed to something like Maya or Cinema4D? Thanks for all the great info!!
I suppose the main benefit is not needing to learn another program. Also, my ethos with tutorials is to show some of the bolder/fringe techniques just to show what is possible and then people can use those techniques to be creative within their own projects...So it's less about if you should do it this way and more about teaching some new techniques along the way.
Watch out, at 10:44 appears the playlist "Reverse engineering pro animation" that it's supposed to appear at the very end of the video when you quote it. Cheers
This animation is fucking sick, love it! I found the animation/movement part rather simple, it's the whole layers, masks and gradients that fucked me up. Thank you for the tutorial tho!
1:55 I am not getting that result here at all. it still looks 2d am i rewatch thinking i missed something but no, i did everything u explained and still not getting it
I had to change it from "Classic 3D" to "Advanced 3D' to get the fake 3d rotation. but i see you have it on classic. Now i cant use layer styles nor gradient effects, i have to find a more conplex way to finish. But thanks alot. will be under this comment if i meet into any problems
Why do they use Ae instead a real 3D program? I'm struggling to find a good reason. Coming up with this solution is got to be much harder than learning 3D, no?
Seven is probably the motion designer who blows my mind the most. Good job reverse engineering this, but there are still some animations that just make zero sense for me. Like the 3d ondulating ribbon?? what's the deal with that? I've experimented for ages with CC cyllinder, but no matter what I do, I can't give it any beliavable depth at all. That guy's insane.
Dude, I am so glad you mentioned that ribbon...I have been looking at that and thinking...how the F. I may have to spend some time trying to figure it out!
@@MotionXP I know this is a bit random, but maybe that ring is a 3d extruded circle stroke, that is rotating sort of like the coins in this tutorial, and then that’s precomped and has a time displacement effect on it??? With a b&w gradient map of vertical columns that just sweep across the frame horizontally. Haha I don’t know why it came to me all of a sudden. Not 100% sure but I thinks that’s the answer, cause if you look closely, that ring even has those glitchy “step” curves that you get with time displacements usually.
Duplicating the comp and using C4D extrusion with color maps is such a flex, great tip

Wtf the main rotation by Null is the greatest trick I've ever seen. So easy yet so powerful!
Ơ anh cũng chơi bộ môn này ạ 😘
@@weaburack ừa vì motion design là cách a kiếm cơm hàng ngày ^_^
Seven is the Goat fr, it’s dope that you remade it 🫡
This tutorial is best thing I have ever seen in my entire motion designer career. Thanks!
Dude, I really love how u literally "f*ck up" every now n then but still get away so neat n cleanly with it😂
seven's so good everyone wants to try it out!
THE BEST UP AND COMING MOTION DESIGN CHANNEL 👀
YES! Finally someone explaining this amazing animations! Thankss!
You got the right format. Keep going with these type of content. I'm still waiting for you to blow up, you deserve it
wow, this is great!
probably gotta watch about 1000 times to make it right and understand, but that will do
Please, keep uploading something like this! really love your work :D

This is great work. good job figuring out the details. more power to u
Dude I really appreciate the level of effort you put in. Thankyou
OMG that is amazing!
man we nee more , and thanks for making this play list but we all noob want to see more , do more man
needed this so bad, i was just scraping your channel & seven's to learn this style for the last week; this shit's good
I love what you do man….simply beautiful. Do you have tutorials on looping background animation of a road, building and street lights that’s in 1 point perspective either moving forward or backward please? Thanks 🙏
Thank you so much for this breakdown, motion leader!!
Just found a jem of a channel.
Amazing tutorial right here
Btw what pc do you havr

It might have been faster and better if done in 3D. But I understand the faux 3D style.
Thanks for the tutorial!
you are basically Ben Marriott's worst nightmare with these layer names.
😂 we NEVER label our layers!
😂😂😂😂
Awesome - you're the 🐐!!
Whoa this is awesome
Thank You so much
You are welcome my dude! Thanks for the suggestion!
Superb Tips!

I clicked on "Draft 3D" and it worked for "classic 3D". I feel imma still run into issues but ill continue
Yeah effects nor layer styles works.. anyways back to "Advanced 3D"
Now i have no clue to what i did, but it now works exactly as your doing it... again im now in "Classic 3D" and its working.. now ill continue
i have finished the animation. THANK YOU!!
I bet the main guy will ___ himself seeing your duplication madness and disc 367 layer
Ben Marriot punching the air rn
Dude you made a great scene but what's up with the rotation animation? It's not smooth
link to the original would be nice
just copy the artist's name and you will find it stop waiting for everyone else to do it for you
Already in the description! I always link to the originals with these tutorials!

i cant sub twice 😭
Can a total beginner follow it along? someone with just interface knowledge?
Doubtful...This is a bit too high level for a total beginner
I didnt even know it was fake 3D until....

Could have been easier with Advanced 3D no?
Looks too difficult. Will it be much easier with real 3D?

@@MotionXP right? I gave up at some point tbh, I’ve no clue what’s going on there. It’s dark magic.
