this is an absolute beast of a performance by GL. i hear it all...blues, jazz, rock, metal all tastefully mixed into a story using dynamics and feel which comes after 50 years of playing guitar. Great litmus test of a video for sorting out people who actually understand what is going on here and those who just need to chill and get out of their protective musical comfort zone. I've always thought GL as an edgier, more metaly Jeff Beck. Takes you on a trip for sure...if you let it. Dude's got nothing left to prove to anyone, pushing 60+ but still got the moves. Legend.

Most of the haters here don't realize the George isn't using a custom rack or a Fractal Audio AxeFx2 like most of his peers would refuse to play live without. This is an amp a guitar and maybe a Phaser or Wah pedal possibly. Pretty much just a raw sound and none of the frills of the 80's George sound. In other words It Sounds Awesome.

This dude survived the 80s man, you know the decade of total debauchery and drug addiction etc he's in great shape compared to most of his peers who are either dead or in the unknown file. I don't think a lot of the younger generations appreciate what it took to be a guitar hero back then or have the drive to even try to master the instrument like they had to back then. All nuance and musicianship of what he's doing here seems to go over peoples heads these days of techno beats and digital software.

Nah, it's easier to tear him down than actually do a little research on the subject. Anybody notice about 4 minutes into this you see the back of the neck of that LP? It is worn down to the wood. He either plays the hell out of this thing(probably) or bought it that way(maybe).
And again, for the haters, the bass player and drummer are doing EXACTLY WHAT THEY SHOULD BE DOING:laying down a beat and rhythm for the lead player. And doing it well.

I’ve always loved George Lynch. He is an amazing player that has his own style and tone. I watch RUclips and listen to some of the newer guitarists and while they are amazing technically you can’t tell one from the other. In my opinion, the period of music history that George is from bred some of the greatest guitarists ever.

There's something special about being able to see someone as good a player as lynch jam and see where the music goes! Would've loved to have been there.

Wow!!! George plays so expressively. He gets way out there on this one. Just so cool - I love it! Pure expression!! (Thanks for this, George!) Glad to see him using Gibsons more and more these days!

Barry Sparks I read or heard an interview where he said that his first guitar was a mint yellow 1960 les Paul Jr that he eventually nodded himself by painting it black with house paint and filing the frets down or something along those lines.

Anybody dumping on George for "sloppiness" here is an ignoramus. Especially if you are a younger rock player, who might be a fans of the newest technical players. You are standing on George's shoulders without even realizing it. As far as the perfection you seem to expect...
If YOUR hands aren't somewhat compromised at 63, I'd be surprised. I'd also expect that you haven't played guitar every day for around 50 years. He's a human being, not a machine. Have some respect for your progenitors. He's humble every time I see him in interviews, so why try to bring him down? He is a founding father of the modern hard rock lick catalog. Nobody dumping on him in this comment section is.
I find many Hendrix solos "sloppy", but you'll never see me calling him a hack. He is an originator, who's shoulders George stood on. Just like every rock guitarist under the age of 45 is standing on George's.

Amazing jam. George still has it in spades.
Some in the comments section don't appreciate this, but then that has always been the case with improvisation: they don't understand. Too bad for them.
