Full recovery is unlikely after extended steroid use. However, with time and effort, some of the damage can be reversed, such as heart and cardiovascular issues, liver values, and testicular atrophy. Nevertheless, managing day-to-day pain and function is a lifelong commitment for joint and nerve damage. Hair loss may not be restored with expensive medical intervention (transplant), and sexual performance is influenced by both recovery and genetics. While some bodybuilders achieve full hormonal recovery after extended steroid use, others may not recover at all. It is worth noting that many bodybuilders suffer from multiple addictions and lack the self awareness or mental strength to stop. The recovery process can take up to two years, especially for those who have been abusing PEDs for an extended period.

I worked with a guy that shot up roids all the time and was so obsessed with it and not wanting to miss a cycle used dirty needles. Then his ass cheek got infected and instead of going to a doctor out of shame and embarrassment he didnt want anybody to know he was doing roids "as if nobody knew" the infection spread. His steroid mind was in denial and he went septic. Ended up at the ER and almost lost his leg and died! They ended up cutting out 50% of his ass cheek to save his life! His leg was so swollen it was grotesque. He had to walk around with one of those wound pack machines that was connected to his ass wound when he returned to work. He was unrecognizable, he lost 75lbs of muscle mass without his roids. He admitted to me he thought about checking out. He showed us his ass cheek after and it looked like a shark bit his right ass cheek off. These hardcore bodybuilders using roids are as whacked and crazed as any other drug user that uses meth or heroin.

I came to discover over the years, reading or listening to interviews with George that he was also far more intelligent than most musicians in the rock scene. A much more thoughtful, philosophical kind of character like Frank Marino or the late, great, Neil Peart. That's very cool of him to say publicly. Unfortunately not many speak about it so candidly. The teens in the local gyms don't hear about the joint strain and injuries, or the organ damage.
Someone like the Rock or Arnold: at least they were able to parlay that into a career and big money, setting up their families.
But they're doing their fans and families a disservice by NOT saying what George just did. They wouldn't lose many fans if they said 'hey, I took a calculated risk for this and that'.
By not saying it, they're condoning it in a way.
Kudos to George for having the balls to put that out there.

I told her how I remember seeing how George had gotten into bodybuilding to keep up with his son. So I searched for and found this. I am a life long fan and bodybuilder and I was very impressed with George’s take on his experiences. Very intelligent and classy as always. All the best!!

Great little clip and good on George for being so honest. Very refreshing. I wish all these Hollyweird celebs would be as honest as he is here. The rock is on the juice, Hemsworth (Thor) The Guy who plays Cap America are all on the juice (the Rock is more or less constantly on it), especially when they bulk up for movie roles. It'd be a much more healthier environment if they just admitted to it, instead of giving the standard industry answer: chicken, brown rice & broccoli.

My father was one of the most successful bodybuilders in this region back in the late 60's through about 1980. He did it all naturally, and used to tell stories about the guys in the gym that would get into steroids.
He decided to compete in a national competition. In his 50 regional contests, he won or placed top three 46 times. At the Mr. Jr. USA he placed NINTH. The worst he had ever done. He started asking around the dressing room what some of these guys' secrets were, and he said their first question was always, "well what are you taking?" When he would reply that he wasn't taking anything they would tell him "that's not going to cut it at this level."
That was his last contest. He retired from competition after that, but kept lifting until he was 75. He trained people out of our house into his 70's, and he would always tell people that steroids will have you looking great for about five years, but the price is you spend the rest of your life falling apart.

See.. Youre lifetime natural and on BP meds with joint issues. If you would've done a few cycles in Ur life and had the same issues the doctors would all point the finger at Ur steroid use.
Doctors are very ill informed in general when it comes to steroids.
Which trickles down to the public bc "if a doctor said it, it must be right"
95% of long term issues from steroids either weren't from steroids or were from steroid abuse. There's a very simple way to use steroids correctly to mitigate side affects and massively limit long term health issues. Regular bloodwork, calcium coronary scan every 10 years, a glucometer if u use insulin or hgh, getting Ur DNA tested for various health factors making u succeptable to stroke or clots, checking Ur blood pressure regularly etc

Really like that the truth about steroids are finally coming out more and more. I've been a dedicated weightlifter since 1988 and can honestly say I've never taken anything other than creatine. Because of that I'm 51 and in better shape than most guys in their 30's and other than a few minor aches and pains here and there I have no injuries. Weightlifting is the fountain of youth I do believe that however the one caveat to that is NATURAL weightlifting. It works the heart, lungs, builds muscle, tendons, ligaments, increases bone density, increases the body's production of antibodies....but you throw in roids and you wipe out all those benefits. Steroids destroy the body from within.

Started at 20 and after 30 years my shoulders along with other joints and tendons are sore and act up. Do I regret it? Hell no, I looked damn good and felt great. Better than being a skinny out of shape geekoid. People still think i am 10 years younger than I actually am. Guys that work in the trades are crippled and shot after 30 years.

All my metal head friends turned muscle too, like a bunch of them. I made a huge go of the supplement business beyond all beginning expectations. George really impresses me in this interview of his health knowledge and I agree with everything he said 100%. Very smart health commentariy. Of course with the easy access of health and longevity info much of this is widely known. One thing about Lynch is how young he looked for SO LONG. I even know about his cycles.
Like Arnold, it's because of hard training and German Vitamin Technology and genes, right?
