My favorite barrier cream that you didn’t mention here is the Avene Cicalfate+ cream. It’s a fave for those with perioral dermatitis or rosacea but great for anyone with an impaired barrier! Zinc is among a bunch of powerhouse ingredients included and my skin is SO GOOD the morning after using this.

Korean moisturizers have been BY FAR the best thing I’ve used for barrier repair and keeping the barrier intact especially using tretinoin in the winter. Most are fragrance free with tons of repairing ingredients and the prices are ridiculously reasonable usually under $20. I almost always buy from Amazon seller storefront

Disclaimer: no, my skin is not dehydrated and no, hydration has not helped, it was the first thing I tried so please stop with the comments lol. This comment is old as heck and I was literally just lamenting about how not being able to use so many nice products sucks.
I envy people whose skin actually dries out during winter... I just exist in a state of perma-oil, I can barely handle the lightest of serums or gel moisturisers without clogging the hell up. :( Some of these look like they'd feel really nice to use.

I had your skin a year ago! I would highly recommend going to Apostrophe and getting oral Spironolactone! It regulates sebum production by blocking male androgen hormones. This medication has been a life saver for me! I use topical Tretinoin, and take this oral medication, and my skin texture and sebum production is nearly perfect. I had severe oily skin, blocked pores, and severe cystic acne. I can’t believe how well that medication works. The ONLY side effect I have is a very light increase in urination frequency. They say it can increase your urination because it’s a diuretic, but it’s really slight slight increase. I wish I would’ve taken this medication years ago, it would’ve saved me years of bad skin 😩. They also make a topical Spironolactone cream if you don’t want to take oral medicine. This will be your life saver

As the commenter above mentioned, I can’t use the LP Cicaplast B5 Baumé without irritation, even though I was using it to heal barrier damage. Of course what works for most people will never work for all people which is completely normal.

Yes, I have the same issue, except without make up, just sunblock. I don’t want to put moisturizer over my sunblock, but don’t want to wash my face an extra time during the day. And I have heard that the face sprays need to be followed up with something occlusive, otherwise the moisture will leave your skin, making it even more dry. And that seems to happen when I have sprayed my face in the past. Right now I just watch the clock until The sun goes down and I can wash my face and moisturize.

I have oily skin on my face and it’s been awesome for a night cream. I had dry feet this summer and it repaired them. My body is dry now that it’s winter and this helps a lot. I use it on my kids who have various skin issues like eczema and keratosis pilaris and overall sensitive skin and it’s been awesome. I got some for my mom. Ingredient of the year for me.

Love a thick cream that calms and nourishes without feeling too occlusive. I can't stand the feeling of balms on the face though! Something like the Cerave, Aquaphor (or anything petrolatum-based on my face feels suffocating. Also, because it just sits on top of the skin it ends up picking up any little dust/lint particles from clothes and whatnot which I can immediately feel sticking to my face and becoming itchy. Not only that, but if you put it on before bed it will get on your pillows and sheets. Sorry, no balms for this face.

We always have a tube of Eucerin Eczema Relief Cream in our house. Nobody has eczema, but the ingredients are really great for dry, irritated skin. It contains 1% Colloidal Oatmeal, Ceramide 3, and Licochalcone (Glycyrrhiza inflata (licorice) root extract). It is fragrance-free as well (and it doesn't have a weird smell like some frangrance-free creams tend to have). It's a 4 on the Eucerine scale of richness, but absorbs and dries down really nicely. Anytime one of my kids complains about a dry patch or starts to itch their skin, we apply this and it always does the trick!

I have combo oily sensitive skin, and the LRP cicaplast balm is perfect for irritation from day long N95 wear and doesn't break me out if I use it on the oilier parts of my face. But for deeper skin tones it does have a white cast so I can't use it during the day

Ooh that’s a hard one. Fatty acids are in everything! I have a similar problem with soy being in everything. I can’t use it and I can’t consume it. It’s so hard when you have to dump half your products. Good luck finding something that works! Let us know what you find too.

We have the baby version of the Cerave Healing Ointment in Canada (I got it at Superstore), and from what I read, it’s pretty much the same thing as the ‘adult’ version, with the ingredients list reordered slightly to accommodate more sensitive skin. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it’s great! Has really been helping with my eczema, too. I hope that this is helpful if you wanted to try it!

I have a question, just when you have a chance to address it. How do you feel about silk turbans or bonnets and silk eye masks, while sleeping. Also, one thing I've not heard you speak of is the temperature of the water, when you wet/rinse your hair? I've had deep conditioning done and they get the water as cold as I can stand it. For it 'to work'. Just curious if that is a thing to be mindful of. Thank you, again for all your help & knowledge! 🙂

The best barrier cream in my opinion is Bioderma atoderm baume. Actually the best barrier products come from the Bioderma range. I have extremely sensitive, itchy eczema prone skin and their oil cleanser is the only thing that soothes my skin. I even did a side by side comparison between Cerave and Bioderma oil cleanser. Bioderma won hands down 🤣. My elder one recently had a foot and mouth disease which he got from childcare. He had huge fluid filled blisters on his feet which the nurse dressed up and told me to be careful. Guess who came to the rescue? Yup Bioderma atoderm baume. The blisters healed in 5 days and the nurses couldn't believe it. I knew at that point I was in lifelong relationship with Bioderma 🤣🤣. What can I say, you impress a mother you've got a lifelong customer ❤️.
