Dr.Dray- I want you to know the profound, positive impact you've made within my daily skincare routine. I'm nearing 40 and started to notice a lot of drying and fine lines on my face and neck. Unfortunately, I was never taught the extreme importance of sunscreen nor was I shown how to properly cleanse and hydrate my skin. Your videos showing the proper way to handle a healthy skincare routine has made a total 360 turn-around in my daily skincare routine. I can not thank you enough. CeraVe alone has made my skin the softest it's ever been. I was one of those people that believed the more expensive the product, the better- ignoring all of the fragrances, dyes, and unnecessary additives in the product. I'm literally down to four go-to items; CeraVe gentle foaming cleanser, glycolic acid for exfoliation, SPF 50 sunscreen, CeraVe cream. Those alone have transformed my face. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Thanks for clarifying this, Dr. Dray. A few people in the skincare section of Reddit fervently post about the specific ratios of ingredients needed, citing the original studies. It was helpful that you clarified this further, because there is a lot of discussion on these subreddits about how to acquire a few (difficult to find and expensive) products. Even as a scientist myself I was even questioning if I should try to find a moisturizer with ratios identical to the studies, so it's really helpful that you highlighted there is no evidence to support any particular combination or amount of ceramides and their supposed supporting ingredients. I can just keep buying drugstore moisturizers!

As I "inch" toward the big 6-0... I have found that when I use a ceramide product my skin is much more moisturized. I really like the Cerave PM Moisturizer. I have also found that if I use a lotion or cream made for the body on my face, I get milia on my forehead. (I was using Vanicream for sensitive skin, and it just didn't work for me as a face cream.) Thank again for such great information!

Cerave is too pricy just because of the added ceramides! Two weeks ago Walgreens had a promotional sale for Eucerin and Aquaphor buy $15 get $8 points back; I did 2 transaction they were almost free (tax include) because I also had a digital Walgreens beauty coupon that said spend $25 get $7 points. The products promotion and the digiral coupon stacked up. Was so AWESOME! Got 3 Eucerin spf 30 face moisterizer, 3 body lotion, Rough & Bumpy and the advance repair. So happy gave the Rough and bumpy to momma because she has rough field working hands and feet as well as fungus nails. Thanks Dr. Dray for ingredients info in the past, these were the exact ingredients I knew I needed for mom. Her hands has now calm and much smoother, urea, alpha hydroxy, ceramides. Then I realized, what benefits ceramides offer to the skin, that we still need but we can get it from something else like urea etc. It is up to us in what form we want those benefits. Thanks for the educating video. I am new to the concept of skincare, let alone skincare products. As a guy over 65 with no background in the science, it can be confusing. So. I appreciate the introduction. Seeing a dermatologist about a medical skin issue he recommended Cerave and similar standard products. At the drugstore I chose Cerave moisturizing cream for three reasons...
    1. Practical: pump on jar
    2. Concentrated? I don't like the texture of lotion
    3. On sale: 20% discount
I have dry rough hands after 66 years of window cleaning in ammonia and also negligent care. I have high hopes for basic skincare and a few products since just adding a pea-aize amount of the product mentioned above to my hands made a difference overnight. Imagine, changing habits? Glad I am retired, because here's the thing: tradesmen often find that safety and health gear interferes with doing their job. I could not use my tools effectively with gloves on.

I’m not a fan of cerave products. I find them very silicone-y, just sit on top of my skin and aren’t hydrating enough. HOWEVER! The Eucerin advanced repair cream is definitely a holy grail cream 😎 My skin type is dry and sensitive and I had very rough patches of dry skin on my calves and arms. Tried tons of products, nothing worked. Three days after using the eucerin advanced repair cream, the patches were all gone and now my legs and arms are baby soft 😁😁

I also know their Dermexa cream contains ceramides. Worth a look if your skin likes oats!

Ya I'd recommend it. Anything that is super moisturizing and hydrating... If you have very dry skin from the tretinoin I would speak to your dermatologist but personally I recommend switching to every other day. The skin dryness and peeling is what is supposed to happen but if it is uncomfortable I'd use it every other night. Also put your moisturizer on before the tretinoin

I am using it with tretinoin if Lactic Acid is not one of the main ingredients in a product (when i see it lower on the list of ingredients) and it's working fine. As far as I know Lactic Acid is not the strongest Aha so i presume if it is just a side ingredient of the moisturizer, but not the star ingredient it should be fine to use it with tretinoin. I didn't cause problems for me using it in a following way : I am putting tretinoin cream on dry skin and moisturizer around eyes and areas not treated with tretinoin and then I am following it with moisturizer on the whole face in half an hour after tretinoin application

Dr dray, this lotion burns my face! And not sting, I mean call the fire department burn. I do notice it softens my skin though. I will try to continue to use it. I’m guessing the burn is from urea and the aha/lactic acid.
My question is does the skin began to “tolerate” urea/aha/lactic acid and will burn less with increased frequency of use (like vit a products)? Or will it always burn a bit, esp if we have eczema/dry/sensitive skin? Im helping cut down on the burn by using it on top of two other moisturizers that are less occlusive! Im guessing an improved skin barrier will help reduce the burn. Praying that day comes sooner rather than later

That makes me feel a little better about trying Walgreens new store brand of Cerave's moisturizing lotion and PM face lotion. They have the face wash, cream, ointment, lotion, and the PM as new items, but some of them had the ceramide ingredients a little lower down the list. Walmart's PM lotion I completely passed on when I saw ceramides AFTER phenoxyethanol because I thought it wouldn't do anything. (P.S. for anyone who doesn't know, phenoxyethanol is a preservative that is allowed in the US in concentrations up to 1%)
