Omg the AM sunscreen moisturizer was awful for me too! I tried it several times in different ways and it pilled so badly even on its own but horrifically under makeup. I love cerave but agree that one product needs a revamp! The PM one is amazing!

The Ultra Light Moisturizing Lotion with spf is much better than their regular AM lotion, I didn’t care for that one either but the ultra light is newer, absorbs matte and just feels light and nice, I’ve repurchased several times.

People who don’t like the AM moisturizer should try the Ultra Light moisturizing lotion with SPF- it is newer, absorbs quickly to a nice light matte, doesn’t pill, it’s just nice and much better than the regular/original AM lotion. It’s one of my current favorite AM with SPF lotions and I’ve repurchased several times.

Angie from Hotandflashy here on RUclips did a review of Vitamin C serums by testing their pH level. The Cerave vitamin c serum you mention here in your least favorites had way too high a pH to be effective on our skin. So it’s a good thing you don’t love the formula! After I watched that video I switched to the Timeless serum (and I agree with you - that formula is much better!). ❤️

Completely agree with the a.m. moisturizing lotion with SPF 30. It won’t rub in, it leaves a cast on my face, then it pills up. But I did find that it works on my neck so I’ve been doing that to use it up!

Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion is a much larger size and cheaper than Cerave PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion but the formula is extremely similar. I have more oily combo skin and the Daily Moisturizing has been a part of my daily routine for half a decade. Even as I have swapped other parts of my routine around, the Daily Moisturizing Lotion (and the Foaming Facial Cleanser) has stayed. The biggest difference is the PM has niacinamide, while the Daily doesn't. But it's really easy to get that in other steps in your routine. If you are trying to have an all in one product, the Baby Moisturizing Lotion has niacinamide (in a smaller dose) and also comes in a larger size for the same price.

My favorite Cerave product is either the skin renewing retinol serum or the moisturizing cream. I have the big tub of moisturizing cream and it has made the BIGGEST difference in my winter skin care routine. I even use it on the tops of cheeks during the day before makeup. My least favorite is PM facial moisturizing lotion. For my personally, it did not provide enough moisture and it actually caused redness and sensitivity on my cheeks. They eye cream is alright, but I’d be interested in a different day time one. Thanks for the fun video!

    • @nataliatmontano2708

I actually use the AM sunscreen moisturizer and like it. I don’t use a lot (like you did when you pumped it out on your hand). I put a light coating (just two pumps) and blend it in. It does take a little extra effort to blend away the white cast, but with a little patience it does blend and doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin. I do follow it with a light coat of Australian Gold Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 in ‘Fair’, which blends beautifully and doesn’t leave a sunscreen shine, and it’s just enough to even my skin tone. I don’t have to wear foundation. I’m 67.

I use the am lotion with spf every day and the resurfacing retinol at night. The sunscreen smooths into my skin just fine but I have very smooth skin and most sunscreens blend in easily. I love both of them and recommended the lotion to my mom as well. I also love the foaming facial cleanser! My least favorite was the vitamin C. It didnt really help lighten my dark acne scars by the time I finished the tube.

I LOVE the healing ointment. Your suggestion to make a sandwich over a moisturizer has saved my skin. I tried the night cream and it burned like fire. It has a great consistency. Guess there’s something in it that my skin doesn’t like. Same with the cleanser, but it’s only on for a minute and I rinse it off. Wish I knew why it stings.
Hope your move is going well!

I personally agree with you about the am spf lotion BUT I found that if I mix it 2 parts of the pm lotion and 1 part of the spf I like it a lot better and is great under makeup. So if anyone has those two products and doesn't like the spf you can try that trick before tossing it!!

I really love the cerave renewing night cream. It's winter now and I have a very dry skin and it gets dry quickly. With this night cream, it gets the job done. I love it. I just love the formula it's like a balm/waxy consistency. I warm it up a little bit with my fingertips and apply. Highly recommend it too. 😊

  • @carolinewooden1311

I re-started my skin regime in February and used mostly Cerave products and they saved my skin. 11 months later I have switched to some other brands but I still use the Hydrating Facial Cleanser (part 2 of a double cleanse), Moisturizing Lotion, Healing Ointment, Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum, PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion, and Resurfacing Retinol Serum daily. I will switch to the Skin Renewing Night Cream in the winter. I use the heavier Moisturizing Cream in the winter and on my body only (not on the face since it's so thick). I think this line works well for me since I have combo normal/dry skin and I'm older (62).
I completely agree about the AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion but I find the Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion is much better and has the SPF30 as well. I normally use SPF50 in the daytime but I use the SPF30 on cloudy/rainy days. I don't like most of the Cerave sunscreens - lots of pilling and there are much better sunscreens for the same price/value.

    • @carolinewooden1311
      @carolinewooden1311 2 года назад

@Maryssa c: I think that if it's light outside there is UVA/UVB rays but the cloud cover makes it not as strong as clear skies. Since I'm inside most days, I'd like to think SPF30 is sufficient. I do reapply through the day, too.

Omg I'm so with you about the eye cream and sunscreen, the texture IS like cheese...that eye cream ended my eye cream journey of many years (thanks!??) The purple night cream tho, when it launched I loved it so much in the winter, but then if you leave it for a while (not like many months) the texture changes! It turned from luxury smooth to waxy greasy ish ...for that I still go back to the tub, but not as nice as LRP Lipikar.

Totally agree about the AM moisturizer with SPF. I found it to be greasy, shiny and did NOT work well under makeup. However, it works great on my neck because I have sensitive skin there, and it is very gentle. I also love love love the cleanser. Many creamy cleansers are difficult to rinse off. This is a great combo creamy, foamy, clean rinsing cleanser. The only thing I don’t love is the night cream. I do use it because of the ingredients, but I find it heavy, balmy, and diffucult to spread on my skin. I prefer a creamier product. I agree about the AM moisturizer. Honestly, I don’t even know if it can work as an spf because of how it pills in clumps on my face - it can’t be forming an even barrier. Many years ago, before a couple of reformulations, it didn’t pill and was my HG (still had a white cast, but I’m very fair and wore powder over, anyway). I don’t know what they changed. Regarding the moisturizing cream, I see why you don’t love it for the face, but it is one of my favorite formulas for body moisturizer since it doesn’t feel greasy for one so rich (on body skin).

The Cerave AM Moisturizer works very well for me, surprisingly. I didn't enjoy the feeling of it at first when I applied it but then it absorbed and it was great (it doesn't dry chunky on my skin like it did on your hand). It managed to keep my skin matte for most of the day. With the amount of hate it gets, I'm just waiting for it to get discontinued lol.
The skin renewing night cream is a godsend during cold Canadian winters!

A bit late to the Cerave party here - after using some other branded products that caused my skin to react, I just bought the Cerave morning facial moisterizer spf 30. After two days, my skin is finally less red and splotchy, and my pores are smaller. I am so happy how much BETTER my skin feels and looks!!
That being said, I agree with some of your criticisms. It does not blend well (you really have to work it into your skin) and is a bit chunky like you said, lol... I also do not like the smell of this and have to wash my hands to get rid of the odour. I also don't love the touch of this on my face, I wouldn't say it's greasy but it's not pleasant.
In spite of the negatives, I really do love how it has cleared up my face.

Hi Abbey! I have dry mature skin, no acne. The Cerave Acne Control sounds like it would be an effective exfoliation gel, even if you don't have acne. I'm looking for an exfoliator. Do you think that I could use this product?

100% agree on the Acne Control Gel (yay) and AM Facial Lotion (yuck). I definitely don't have the texture issues with the Eye Repair Cream though; it's always been smooth for me, no curdling.

The night cream is amazing, and I love it. However, this is not some thing that I would recommend for someone with rosacea. I have a mild form of rosacea on my cheeks, and after using this on my cheeks on three separate occasions this has caused a major flare up. I have gotten some irritation and sensitivity from it. I before it’s from the retinol. Anyway, I no longer use this on my cheeks but I use it as an eye cream and the other places on my face that doesn’t have rosacea and it is wonderful.
Also the 10% vitamin C is great to dip your toe into vitamin C for those with sensitive skin. I started using it to see how my rosacea would react and it worked perfectly with it with no issues. I was able to get my skin used to it, so that we I moved up to a higher amount I didn’t have a reaction. I hope this helps!

I love the AM SPF, I also have very oily skin so it’s rare that a moisturizer works out for me. I use smaller amounts on my face and neck, let it dry and I ALWAYS wait before I put makeup on.

CeraVe PM used to be my favorite moisturizer, but since their recent vegan/paraben-free reformulation, I can barely tolerate it as it burns. So I have switched to La Roche products that contain just niacinamide alone with moisturizing ingredients. Honestly, I believe hyaluronic acid may not be best for skin after all because it can draw too much water from skin if your environment/air is dry, even slightly dry. Ends up making skin drier because if the ingredient cannot get water from air, it draws water from your skin. Not good. Maybe OK for summer months or if you live in a humid climate.
Also, CeraVe Night Cream may have impressive ingredients, but from a product development perspective the product has a tacky, waxy feel and the base smell comes through terribly. Even smells like wax. Almost more balm than cream. Better suited for use as an eye cream in current formula. The product needs to be reformulated to be blended better to make it whipped and creamier in consistency like the Moisturizing Cream but better, while still providing the same ingredient benefits, but with a smooth less matte finish and clean odorless fragrance free base.

Thanks for reminders for the night cream. Going to try that. I use the DRMTLGY peptide cream but may get this to alternate just to save some money. Or use one at night and one during the day..I have dry skin! Would you suggest if having the better ingredients of the DRMTLGY at night or during the day?

Unfortunately the healing ointment isn't available in my country so I have to use aquaphor. I literally use it almost all over my whole face because I get so excited too when I use it. I want the magic to happen everywhere but I focus on lips, eyes and under my nose. I want the ointment so bad!!!

Their Skin Renewing Oil is SOOOOOOO underrated. A bit on top of their Skin Renewing Night Cream will heal your skin barrier in one night. In my opinion, there are products out there that sell at 10X more that don't even get close to their quality and performance. I don't love their whole line but those two, for me, are outstanding.

I have used cerave for about 10 years, but have moved away from them a bit in the past 18 months. Not bc they’re not good, but I just know other stuff. In my opinion, that Healing Ointment is the best product they make. I use that religiously at night on lips, also around my mouth to hydrate/seal. (I’m a teacher who’s been in a mask all day for almost 1.5 years & that part of my face is always affected & gets so dry.) I, like you, would love a cleansing balm from them. I’m currently using Neutrogena’s bc it’s the only drugstore one that’s fragrance free w no residue.

OMG yes! That AM moisturizer is so bad to work with. It peels off all the time. Because I spent money on it I continue using it. I notice that I have to use a small amount and rub it on one part of my skin quickly and go little by little until I cover my whole face. That minimizes the peeling a little bit. However, it still usually peels around my mouth. I won’t repurchase this.
