I have a sword and shield edition and replacing the LCD screen cost more than half of the cost of getting a second hand switch lite. I am thinking of doing it myself and this video helps a lot. Never thought I could do the repair from the front side to avoid removing all the parts. Thanks for the video!
My brother recently broke his and the closest computer shop wants about the same price as the console to repair it, and I'm like alright let me do this myself, and the tutorial helped alot :)
How much did it cost for everything, like the tools, the new screen, and any other materials needed? If it cost less to repair this way then buy a new one then HECK YEA I'll probably try this
This is a good video. I bored, on a whim, decided to open my Switch Lite to swap the hardcase out entirely for a clear "Astro Purple" shell and I needed to swap the screen out. I went the full disassemble route with a hairdryer for the screen's adhesive hahah. Now I'm currently repairing a Switch Lite screen for my sister in law...
I just replace mine too now and it doesn't turn on. Any suggestion? I tried to put the old one that work with bad screen and still doesnt turn on. I check all the cables and its all good. I think i meesed up my switch. Do you idea on this?
After replacing my lcd screen, the screen became blank. There is sound and power screen is only dark no home screen menu. My switch is a cfw modded system. Please help.
I need a tutorial on how to transfer my data from my practically exact same broken switch lite from the video. To my newer switch. I've tried doing it blind but I just can't get it to work... I miss my full odds shiny Eevee on my sword save file
I’m not too sure as I didn’t buy this from Amazon. As long as it’s an LCD listed for the Switch Lite it should work just fine, to my knowledge they’ve never made changes to the LCD part.
Do you have to use an adhesive to stick the digitizer to the LCD? Or does it just sit in place? I know the digitizer needs adhesive to stick to the shell, but can't find any info about securing the LCD to the digitizer.
I usually like to replace it. Some I open still have very soft thermal paste that isn’t dried out, it can be reused. Otherwise it’s best to clean and replace
Hey, I have a modded switch lite and I saw some vertical lines on the left end side of the screen and 2-3 more lines showed up and I’m guessing I’ll have to replace the lcd in future. If I ship it to the shop and get it back it may take 20+ days, I just wanna ask can i do it myself ? I am someone who never operated on electronics ever, I don’t know about how wires and other stuff work so can a person like me be able to do it? And can it be done in a day how many hours minimum? Also can I get your Instagram so I can show you how my switch lite screen looks ? That would be helpful. Waiting for your detailed response 🙏
I would not recommend this one to a beginner, not that it isn't possible just that it would be exceptionally frustrating. You have to remove a lot of components to get to the LCD, and then the ribbon connectors for it are very very short and difficult to fully connect. If you were to do it yourself and this is your first time, I would give yourself about 8 hours. If it's a technician working in a shop you'd be looking at about 1-2 hours. I don't offer mail-in repairs just yet, I'd recommend you check out Chase Fournier who is also on RUclips, he does a great mail-in service with very fast turn around times.
@@TapticDigital I don’t live in the US lol Can I take it to the phone repair shops and ask? Also can I show you how it looks ? I can still play but the few lines on the left side looks unsettling
I know this is an older video but while it’s open, what upgrades could I do? Like can I make it work on the tv? Can I add internal memory? Can I change out cooling fans for a better one? What can be done? Also, could I somehow hack it to play ps2 games? Xbox etc. ??? I have a spare system I can play with so I figure it’s worth frankensteining it to be more than just a switch lite
@@Ssargent888 not a whole lot without some serious soldering skills. You could install a modchip. Check out Chase Fournier on RUclips, he does a few switch hacks!
What size tesa tape? I see 1mm and 2 mm rolls and thats not a big difference. Thank you for the video. Ubreakifix said $300 plus to fix. Screen stopped working after I replaced the joysticks.
Ubreak is crazy for that, sounds like they just don’t want to work on it. Definitely try reseating the screen cables before fully replacing, and test the new display before installing! Grab 2mm tape, I rarely use the 1 as it’s almost too thin to hold anything.
I just bought a used one with a broken lcd for $50. If my repair is successful, then my all-in total will be $120 + an hour of fiddling around for a switch lite. Seems good.
@@LeonRuiz if it’s already broken, yes. But that still has 30% water so you’ll need to let the device dry for about a day before connecting power back to it. Best to use 90-99%

I definitely did it the lazy way, but it worked out. It’s a bit frustrating to feed the ribbons through

Hmm. Screen was about $40, screwdriver set was $15, double sided tape probably about $10, let’s call it $100 total to factor in shipping.

Theres supposed to be a OLED mod screen coming out in the future, so im just curious how replacing the screen actually works.
After replacing my lcd screen, the screen became blank. There is sound and power screen is only dark no home screen menu. My switch is a cfw modded system. Please help.
Sounds like either a bad screen, or something isn’t fully connected.
Make sure the ribbons are all the way in, some of them seem to want to stay out about 1 mm.
Whats that little adhesive strip from?😊

I know the digitizer needs adhesive to stick to the shell, but can't find any info about securing the LCD to the digitizer.
Nope, no adhesive needed there. The pressure of the digitizer will hold the LCD in the shell on its own
Thanks.
@@TapticDigital Yea but won't dust get between the digitizer and screen then?

How to remove stripped screw on my switch lite can't replace my lcd screen because i broke it easily when i dissembling 😢
You can cut a line into the screw with a grinding tool and use a flathead to remove it, or look into precision screw extractors

@@ldvids24 isopropyl alcohol, 90% or higher
