- Gold Rusher is a mine train coaster built by Arrow Development, which later became Arrow Dynamics. The coaster opened along with the rest of the park on opening day 1971 & was the first roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It closed after Christmas in 2012 due to the construction of Full Throttle & will reopen along with Superman: Escape from Krypton, when Full Throttle opens later this year.
Six Flags Magic Mountain is located north of Los Angeles in Valencia, California.

It actually is a fun ride.....THEE VERY FIRST rollercoaster there. It beats out some of the "scarier rides" there IMO.

It's a great ride... takes me back over 40 years!! Annual passes were around $35.
Really enjoyed this one mostly because it felt like you left the park and were in the wilderness with all the foliage.
This was my absolute favorite ride as a kid, I was scared of loops for years as a child but my dad would always indulged me with riding Goldrush together. Eventually I worked up to Ninja and then loop coasters. But this was always a favorite.
This was my first coaster. I just couldn't believe it when I walked up to the sign, and was finally tall enough.

Docktor Jim I remember going to the Magic Mountain for my 8th bday. They let me ride it twice, put us in front row, and sang Happy Birthday on the ride intercom. It was fun.

I don't think the front car gives the best ride. When the train really gets going, the front car is already in whatever element the train is going through. Like the hills and helix turns. The back provides the best ride.
This ride is so fun in the back you get so much airtime in the end
And in the front at the end it throws you forward

I worked on that ride for 2 years as ride foreman back in 86-88!! Rusher will always be near and dear to me heart!!

This is a lot of fun, it was walk on when I went on so I went on a LOT. note: try riding in the back, sometimes there is a shorter line and it makes the ride quite fun! :)

Error in your description. When Magic Mountain first opened it wasn't owned by Six Flags. I believe it was owned by a land development company. They built Magic Mountain to try and draw more people from LA to buy property in the Sana Clarita area.
It was owned by The Newhall Land & Farm Company in a partnership with SeaWorld. I was a Ride operator on the Rusher in the '70s. That was when we ran 4 trains on busy weekends with a train dispatching every 20 seconds or so. They'd never do that today; You had to be good, with the whole crew working together or the blocks wouldn't clear for the following train and it stop all the trains on the brakes and lifts.
i loved this ride so much that there were a couple years that got on again and again and again and sometimes, i went on it over and over again without getting off!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL XD

There used to be a pad on the section of the track frame visible on the upper left at 0:35 that was covered with chewed gum. Eventually the pad was removed since they got tired of cleaning it over and over. The exposed frame has gum on it anyway. LOL
i miss my old friends. when we went on this ride like 30 times in a row that one day our band did a performance there, and we were all yelling and i almost fell off,, i remember this ride like the back of my hand. its sad how things change
I got hit in the face by a branch when I rode this. That was about the only feeling I experienced during the ride.
I went with my friend today and rode this like 5 times. It was so much fun!

It is just closed due to construction works nearby and will reopen later this year.
@riseofcoasters it's fine people complain because of the younger crowd that hangs out there almost every weekend. The people who don't mind the teenagers are the ones who enjoy their day the most.

You know what I dislike? The bland and boring theme parks without trees. I tend to dislike theme parks that have just coasters and nothing else. Which is why I like Disneyland.

It's an oldie but a Goldie that's for sure don't act like it's scary I rode that when the Park first opened I'm 55 years old now it's not that fast still it was the first coaster there..
What would you say would be the best Arrow Mine Train?
I would have to give that to Thunderation at Silver Dollar City or Road Runner Express at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

This video makes it t look like a nice, slow ride. But in reality, Good Rusher is just as rough as Viper, minus all the inversions.
0:36 those things stuck on the left side of the screen are gum. It's 2016 and those things are still stuck there. Either that, or they cleaned it but people still leave their gum there. lol fun thing to point out. 😂😂
