  • Normally all morning departures are from Dartmouth yards and CN Train #407 leaves first (using the power from #408 that usually arrives about 3am) followed by #503 and the locomotives for #511. However on 4 April #408 arrived about 0750 and #511's power was stored at Wright's Cove rather than at the Dartmouth yards. This led to the trains leaving in the reverse order. # 511 (2607 & 2601) with 54 empty cars was away first and passed Akerley Boulevard at 0831. This was followed by # 503 (4722 & 4769) which goes from Dartmouth yards to Burnside but had some work at Mile 8.1. He had a protect against #511 but #511 was out of range on the regular channel and so with the help of the RTC they were able to communicate on channel 81 (MoW channel) which must have a longer range. #503 left Mile 11 (Dartmouth yard limits) about 0850.
#407 (5472 & 2307) had finished checking the power (from #408) and assembling his train soon after 0915 but had to wait for #503 to clear the main line at Mile 8.1 and left Mile 11 Dartmouth Subdivision about 0925.
Several locomotive models are seen including GE Dash9-44CW & ES44DC and GM GP38-2, GP38-2W and SD60!
