My grandma passed in her sleep this morning from cancer (04/28) so to see your grandmother's reaction to this warms my heart. Cherish every minute you have with her.
I’m very sorry for your loss. Today was my grandfather’s birthday. He has been gone for many years, but he bought me my very first HO train set when I was a kid, which I just realized as I was reading this. I hope you have many great memories like I do.
@robby062 thank you, and yes, I have many great memories with her. My birthday is tomorrow and the realisation that I'll never hear her wish me a Happy Birthday or a Merry Christmas again absolutely breaks my heart. I'm also worried about my grandfather now that his wife of 57 years is gone.
Awesome, I have restored some of my grandfather's trains over the years. Unfortunately, he's no longer here to see them run after all these years. Very fortunate to share that with them.
@@wesless1111I feel your pain I did something similar for mine he had a old Lionel 2-4-0 I got it fixed and tracked down the rest of the set he had dementia but seeing he face as he remembered for a minute I will always remember sadly he died 3 months later it’s been 4 years but I still remember his face RIP Owen Charles Lauer 1943-2020
It was so precious to hearing your grandmother's voice, as she was admiring the successful results of your handiwork. It was also great to hear the excitement in your voice when you had the engine running for the first time in 60 years! Congratulations to you both!
I can really relate to the feeling by seeing it run for the first time again. When I was 3 years old, my dad had bought a Liliput 102 05 for very cheap as it was not working. The motor wasn't functional, and at some point, my dad displaced it. But as I grew up and saw the loco on the display shelf, I always dreamt of seeing it run. It was my favourite as it was the only tender locomotive my dad had. At some point, it was packed away in a box for many, many years. I'm 27 now, and by chance, I found the motor in a totally random box. Took a look at it, and it turned out the issue was that the spring holding the brushes wasn't insulated properly. Fixed it, and then it ran totally fine. My dad dug up the locomotive from storage, and with some time and fiddling, we both finally got to see the loco run for the first time. It was a very exciting feeling indeed. It's now one of the smoothest runners we have.
“I didn’t think it was possible” There’s about 120K people who disagree. We know you can fix anything, and we love watching you do it. You never cease to amaze my wife and I. Great video, loved the raw emotions, very well done.
"Look at her." That made me smile so wide. You could hear the warmth and affection in her voice for her old locomotive. Nice to know she still loves her. Good job, my friend.
I have watched a lot of your videos and you restore a lot of older locomotives some of them personally I don’t think they should’ve even been bothered with but this one is definitely an amazing one. The fact that you did this for your 81 year-old grandmother made her extremely happy is an amazing job, I truly hope her and you can enjoy this locomotive tell your time on earth is done. God bless you and your family. 🇺🇸🦅
Very heartwarming. I too will be 81 this May. Yes, I still remember my childhood trains and even run the Lionel 150 engine which came with orange passenger cars that my Dad received when he was 7 way back in 1921. My grandfather and grandmother would have sacrificed greatly to buy that set back then. Perhaps their spirit rides the silver rails with that set.
Great seeing you not only restore and get your grandma's steam engine back in service but letting her mark up and run it, that's just priceless. Job well done and great seeing the old steamer back in revenue service!
What a great moment to be able not only get them going again but the fact parts are amazingly still available and finally to able to show them running again to your grandmother - priceless. Congrats-!
Your reaction was incredible, and the segment with your gran was absolutely the best! Thank you for sharing, and thanks to her for being willing to participate! A very special edition! ❤
The look of joy on your grandmother's face made the entire project worth the cost of the restoration. The fact that it runs so amazingly is just icing on the cake. Great job, great video.
Amazing work, Harrison. Your grandmother is blessed with a wonderful grandson who can do such difficult restoration. Thanks for sharing this touching story with us.
Grandmother is right “you’re amazing”. Such a loving restoration. You’re definitely in grandmother’s will! lol. So special to see her joy in watching it run again and your obvious delight in the moment. I wish there was someway to keep this video for my grandchildren to watch when they unbox my old trains.
I think that is genuine heart that you did that for her..........a real blessing to take her memory to something she remembered long ago..........bravo Harrison.....clap clap clap
How lovely! You have no idea how big of a gift you gave your grandmother. I don't know you, but I'm so proud of you; a gift of love, memories and respect. Wow. wow.
Very impressive Harrison. The Rivarossi Atlantics are a league amongst their own. Im getting ready to finally finish my SP 4-4-2. I took inspiration from you. Put it off for years since i am more of a modeler than just a restoration guy anymore. But i'd like to see it finished after years of speculation and on and off repairs. I finally have everything i need after using RivaRestore. So my SP 4-4-2 will live again. Albeit im a few years too late to show my grandfather Thanks Harrison, see you on the Seashore Lines! -KJP
Good evening Harrison, I have been watching your channel for several years and by far that was my favorite moment when it started. You could hear the extreme excitement in your voice! So cool! Take care, Jeff.
seeing your grandma being so happy to see her trains run put a smile to my face. Cheers to you Harry should be proud to be able to bring smiles to those with your trains. keep doing your passion
Hearing her talk about them both as she watched them ride the rails it was hard not to get weepy. You could see she was transported back in time. Great work Harrison. Take care, Jeff.
@@SMTMainline In my Hometown here in Germany they are restoring an old Steam-Engine (one of the last completely Coal-Fired!) back into working order (has been a Monument for nearly 40 Years). At the Moment it is most likely that it will roll with its own power again at the End of October.
That was genuinely one of the coolest things I have seen a youtuber suprise a relative with. Ive seen the "I paid off my parent's debt" and the "I bought my sibling a car" but this definitely tops it. I have seen only a few of your videos before but after this, sir, you earned yourself a subscribe. You are a legend.
Seeing your grandmother so happy watching the 2 Atlantics that haven’t run in 60 years bring joy to my heart. Cheers Harrison
Thank you!

Everyone's pure elation when they ran was unbelievable. A stellar job on both fronts.

Your Granny is just great and a train granny at that. You are very lucky.
Your grandmother's happiness upon seeing her precious childhood trains being restored literally brought a tear to my eye, and I do mean literally!
I could hear the little girl in her come out in huge joy at seeing her childhood memories and trains riding the rails again.
