I’ve done this so many times. Worst part in my opinion of getting a buck 😂, even gutting them. You guys know exactly what your doing. So we’ll done. Always love the outcome of what you do. I’ve not added Dawn to them. Usually just use A-Jacks I’ve also never used a pressure washer, Dad and I would use a wire brush. We also use a reciprocating saw to cut from behind the antlers to the jaw hinge. Dad always has fun throwing the eyeball at his only daughter that will help him do that 😂😂. Just making me tougher I guess. Always put the brains on top the fence post because the birds love them. ❤
Nice job. Did a couple like that for the grandkids a while back. Lots of antler in that garage. Never thought about using a pressure washer, just kept boiling & scraping. Turned out ok.
I tried this one time before the internet full of information was a thing. It completely fell apart. Boiled too long🤣 We have to do Evans Buck from last year we skinned out and had in the freezer. Thanks for the information Chris👍🏻👍🏻
Interesting. It's good to show how you do this because there are not many sources to learn. I do mine a bit different, I don't get the nice clean white on the bone, but it's a bunch easier and can often be completed before you come home on your hunting trip. Just tie the skull up with a rope, have rocks tied to it to weight it down, throw it into a river or stream - in @ 2 days the minnows have cleaned it down to the bone. Less effort for sure. That little creek you have running through the old wood yard would probably work great.
I doubt it there are not many minnows in there as in I have only ever seen a few in 20+ years. But it is a good idea if the creek or lake has a minnow population.
Nice job. My way is similar until the end, I use peroxide and “basic white” powder mix to get the skull white with no damage, make a paste and brush it on, wrap it in plastic wrap to keep it from drying out to fast then rinse it couple hours or a day later.
how many states do you and your brothers hunt. i have never done a full skull boil just the antlers with part of the skull on a nice piece of wood very informative presentation
I have never done this or seen it done...Great video and explanation of the whole process!! Do you need to be careful of leaving knife marks on the bone? Do they show bad when the process is done?
I know it all work , Chris . Try it for August to December 31 every wk hunting for game . Iiiii iiiii can do a moose in no time at my age I’m well over in the thousand I’m probably got another 20 yrs left in my old body . Dexter is my line off knives plus green river and good steel . I don’t know who skin the deer , but head wasn’t cut off the body right . SORRY iiiii iiiii butcher, skin and kill thousands beef , horses, pigs , moose , bear , polar bear , grizzly, caribou, elk etc in North America Canada 🇨🇦. Great video Chris and brothers.
Interesting with the bleach rinse rather than a soak, downside of the soak is it can make the skull chalky if left to long. Have you tried 30-40% Peroxide soak or are you happy with the bleach results?
Great video I have done two so far. The first one I over cooked it and used too much borax And 20% by volume peroxide And it ate away some bone around the eye sockets but not too bad. The second one I cooked it less and used Dawn and just a bit of borax. It turned out much better. I have not tried straight bleach But will definitely give it a try. Question did you rinse the bleach off after it dries.? Thank you for your time
Great vid Except when i got to the end. I cringed when He used bleach. That will make it brittle and turn yellow after a while. I Use peroxide/ hair developer on all the ones i do. Looks like most of the comment section dose to
@@outofthewoodyard no.. i dont mind any of the process, but i cannot cut the eyes out on my own. I have a 50quart pot for boiling heads but the eyeballs bug me 🥴
Great video! It is the best I've seen! This video confirmed my experiences and taught me a few tricks. Appreciate you taking the time!
Awesome, thank you!
Love your outdoors channel Chris, thanks for the educational video.
Thanks for watching!
Great video Chris! I've never done this but have a buddy that does it himself. I might try it myself on my next one. Thanks for showing us. - Tim
Thanks! Go for it!

I like making the skull mounts myself ...kinda like the final step of the hunt besides eating the meat.
Great job my friends! I do a much similar method! I have a pan like that so I try to do two at a time! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching!

Yup, I over did one once too.
Good video ! Thanks I’ve done a boil but just the antlers! Not a European mount. 👍🏻 like this channel!
Thanks for watching Robert!

I've got to try that just to see thanks
Hi Chris!!😀😀
Pretty cool!!
Nowhere near as much work to doing one as I thought there was.
Hello Al! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!

Thanks for the info!
Use a 2footpiece of 2x6 with a large lag bolt. Push lag bolt in ground where 2x6 can’t move. Now you can pressure wash skull without it moving around
Great idea! Thanks...next time!!!
Thank you I want to get into this I think it will be fun
Go for it!
I just had nasal surgery 2 weeks ago. Based on how I’m feeling now I’m pretty sure this was the process the Dr did😅
Ha! So you must be real clean in there!!!

A lot. 3-4 most years. Lots of Canada over the years and many states.

Thanks. I have not had knife marks that I noticed on the bone ...maybe there are some but not anything that I saw.

Great video. When are you going to trap more beavers. Love those vids also.
Right now and the videos will be coming soon!!!!
Neat stuff
Thanks Chris!

Very nice collection and I love the flag. TSWRA

Great video. Can I ask where you got your square pot?
My brother made it ...stainless steel (it's a rectangle) Thanks for watching!
It’s an interesting procedures in taxidermy.😊

I have not tried peroxide but I have seen some that where done with it and they look VERY white.
It's also explosive
👍🏻👏🔥
Thanks!!
Awesome to see a dude that HUNTS!
Thanks...More to come! Love your band!

Thanks, no we just let it dry.
Thanx
Please DO NOT use bleach. It's the worst thing you can put on a skull. Peroxide only for whitening/disinfecting.
Did you put anything in the water or maybe I missed it?
dawn dish washing soap.
What psi pressure washer do you use? I’ve never used a pressure washer doing one
I have no idea??? It does work well.
Low pressure lower than 2400 just change tip till you find what works best
My pressure washing is 2400, I use a fan tip, the tip in this video will blow holes in unwanted places
Does the bleach eat away at the bone? I noticed when I whiten mine with bleach the bone tends to flake off and become brittle.
No, you must have over cooked it.
Bleach does eat bone. I use volume 40 peroxide instead. I have done 20 plus heads without a problem.
Yes, bleach will absolutely destroy the bone and should NEVER be used. Peroxide only.
Have you guys ever had a skull fall completely apart??
Yup, just one time, I left it boil for hours and it separated. You have to keep checking every 15 minutes or so.
Great vid Except when i got to the end. I cringed when He used bleach. That will make it brittle and turn yellow after a while. I Use peroxide/ hair developer on all the ones i do. Looks like most of the comment section dose to
I have done that too, I did not like the ultra white myself. Quite a few people do no bleach or peroxide.
@outofthewoodyard Yeah I like the natural look sometimes too on mine. The ones I do for customers all want it white for some reason
Why the hurry? Degreasing in acetone takes two weeks, alone. Oh, you don’t do that.
To get it done.
Looks like a nine point to me 😂not an eight point
maybe or not???
Anytime you heat galvanized metal it releases insanely dangerous and toxic fumes. Word to the wise. Not a good idea.
Good vid, thanks.
Thanks for the tip!
I can do everything. Cutting eyes out bugs me 🥴
