    I've had four Shure SM7Bs in my build list for our mini studio for interviews (similar to a podcast setup) -- The Audio-Technica BP40 just popped up on my radar. This video was EXTREMELY helpful! WOW! Nice putting it head to head and through its paces. Thanks so much! (Scratching out the Shure and replacing it with the BP40!)

    Piano Man Chuck just a friendly recommendation here from a fellow creator and feel free to delete this comment after you consider it. You have a wonderful clickable video index. If you modify your first entry to 0:00, the entire index should also magically index the actual video itself into chapters with visual thumbs as you hover over the scrub bar. That may have been what you were after but it only works if your first entry is 0.00 or perhaps 00.00. I learned this the hard way myself a bit ago. In any case, this is just a friendly tip! Keep up the great work - been following you for years at this point (since 2017). 🙏🏽🎼

      Wow - it worked like magic! I did not know this... thank you for that tip!!

      @@PianoManChuck Fantastic! In addition, (and perhaps the biggest benefit of all this), is that by formatting things in this way, you no longer have to take the extra steps to make links "clickable" in the description either. You simply just type out the minutes/seconds along with the description of the chapter and RUclips does the rest by actually making the times "clickable" in the description automatically for you. This saves us a ton of time. Cheers from San Diego... 🎵

      @@MyKeysToMusic Actually all I had to do in the past was just type out the minutes/seconds along with the description and RUclips did the rest... it was always that way for me. The only difference now that I made the first entry 0:00 is that it actually went ahead and showed visual markers along the video's timeline! That's the 'magic' I was referring to --- I saw those in other videos and was wondering how they did that... but of course now I know thanks to you!

    I have this mic to and love it. I have the shock mount for it to though which bumps the price up to $450.00. A lot of people think that a microphone has to have a perfectly flat frequency response in order to be good. That is not true. Many famous mics don't and pretty much all speakers, earbuds, headphones, amps etc are very inaccurate. The nice thing about this mic is the build quality, appearance (especially with the shock mount that is designed for it), and the added clarity that ensures that you will always be easy to understand, even through people's very bass boosted setups. Even my parents who have hearing issues can easily understand me though this mic. The built in pop filter in this mic is among the best as well. No more pop filters blocking my face. This mic needs more attention. The SM58 is nice as well, as long as you get a real one.

      @@shorfan I used to use a Yamaha MG10XU because that was the best that I could afford at the time but I used a fethead inline mic preamp with it. Now I only use that mixer for line level inputs on my stereo system.

    For your voice, I think the RE20 sounds best to me.

    I like your voice on all 3 mics but having said that I favor the EV RE20. The RE20 has a fuller, more spatial sound.

      Thanks Arlene... yes, the RE20 is well-known for sounding that way. However, for $100 less than the RE20, the BP40 sure makes for a great sounding alternative!

    thank you very much for the thoughtful detailed review. I have the AT-2035 at work in a sound box, (milk crate with sound foam walls to screen out the sound of my office niose) and the Shure MV7 at home, but i am hungry for one of these 3, and i like the sound of all 3, and the price point difference you note is worth considering. thank you very much sir. might you compare the MV7 and the BO40?

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  3 года назад

      The milk crate setup is quite creative!! But with one of these 3 mics you won't need that since they're dynamic microphones (with Condenser quality)!

    My opinion:
    The Shure SM7B sounds like a typical podcast-style (warmth).
    EV RE20 sounds a bit clearer than the Shure SM7B.
    The AT BP40 is the clearest. This mic, however, is better suited for voice-over and requires good mic technique. So maybe not for beginners.

    Suena mejor el RE20 de Electro voice. Y como segundo lugar, sería el BP40 de AT.
