I only discovered your channel a few days ago, when I was doing some research on the new iPads, and you have quickly turned into one of the favorite channels. Your work is amazing, keep it up.
trust me, I love watching this guys videos, so much fun to watch, for me atleast
You should get a "cohost" (or puppet, or alter-ego) named Ken Figuritout
Keanu Figuritout
I legit laughed at this.
@@TheEverydayDad I’m glad I get to start my day by making someone laugh! If I, Ken Figuriout, you Ken Figuritout…
Sounds like existential musing. 🎶I am he as you are he as you are me
And we are all together🎶
Ken Figuritout is just a clone of Gary who wears bright colors.
I started watching because I'm thinking to buy a new iPad. But I watched the whole thing because this was like a mini guide on editing videos. Loved it! Figured it out 💯
Always impresses me how informative, knowledgeable you are Gary while being enteraining. Honestly if you haven't already you should do some tutorial video's or even classes on video editing on something like Skillshare.
I recently started looking into comparison videos with the MBA M1. And I can tell you have fun making these videos. Appreciate the content.
Thanks. Enjoying your videos. Would've loved to see you use iMovie in this. I'm curious about iMovie that's all, will have to give it a go when I'm travelling next.
Namaste karl bhai I hope u are fine and living a joyful life ..Nice to meet u by the way !
U r officially my fav tech review channel idk what about it but its so straight forward and clean idk how to explain but ifs great
You really can use an iPad as a main workflow machine as long as you don’t mind it taking a little longer to get the footage onto your files system 🤙❤️
My one pet peeve about Luma Fusion is the way it scrolls back to the beginning of a clip when you're doing adjustments to it's position, like when you're aligning audio between two different clips. On an older iPad this slows me down terribly, and I'm already annoyed seeing it on the M1 iPad Pro.
When people just plop their bare iPad Pro on the table like that without any kind of protection, it gives me an eye twitch. My iPad Pro 12.9 m1 2tb cellular is protected by a sturdy case, the screen and the camera are protected with high quality tempered glass screen protector. I use a high power magnetic cable dongle for the thunderbolt port which also prevents dust to get in. I’ve also bought dust protector for the speakers which I haven’t installed yet.
You’re the reason why I bought an IPad Air 4 for video editing. I edit mostly 2.7k, so it’s ridiculously fast for that. I’ll keep my IPad Air for now, unless the M1 IPad gets something crazy like an iPad OS version of Final Cut Pro.
This is what I wanted to see as this was why I did the upgrade, mobile editing
The iPad is my ultimate toy gadget and the fact you can use it for professional task is awesome
I have to agree with you. As someone who’s just starting to dip a toe into video editing, I’m excited about the possibilities of traveling with the device, editing video in the evenings on LumaFusion and then kicking back with a HDR movie.
the idea of import and working with the file system in ipad os is almost like a forced thing, like as if you were stuck with the only device as an iPad and then having to do all these tedious tasks to get something final cut could do in half the time, the file management system of libraries etc and being organised is just so much smoother on mac os.
I agree. They need to just drop the iMac and give the new iPad Pros the ability to switch from the usual iPad interface to the iMac desktop interface. I'm in the market for a video editing Apple device and I'm leaning more toward the iMac because of this although I really want the iPad Pro.
Great video. Could you make a video using lumafusion on a M1 Mac and if it is worth it versus Resolve or Final Cut?
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks man!
Thank you from Egypt I'm was searching for answer and I found your video thanks for helping
Thanks for sharing, it helps a lot.
I have Mac Book pro Retina 2015, why I always have this full storage and what should I do?
Mouse if you had it up on the monitor but I think it feels more smoother with the apple pencil
i dont love the mic in the shoot i cant lie nobody else really does that throws me off not bashing the video or anything great content man
I’m returning this M1 iPad Pro tomorrow. I’m totally satisfied editing and daily using my 2020 iPad Pro and M1 MacBook Air. All my videos were edited with them without a hiccup.
$1500 back in my account…cha-Ching!!! Cheers 🍻
I’ve been using iMovie on my iPhone 12 Pro Max for my first few RUclips videos. Part of me wants to get a Mac Mini/Studio/MacBook Pro 16 and part of me thinks that the iPad would suit me better. I’ve got on ok with iOS on the iPhone but I need a bigger screen. I’m only doing very simple editing, I don’t have time to spend hours color grading, etc.
Please do some video editing with the 11” too please !
My sister was using her original iPad Pro as her only computer while taking advanced college courses at home. She got tripped up when she couldn't purchase textbooks online on iOS - they said it had to be "a real computer."
I understand they fixed this with the latest version of iPadOS.
How do you mean “they fixed this”
@@cslack813 With iPadOS they changed the way Safari reported its host computer. It was no longer reported as a mobile device but as a ‘real computer.’
The publisher my sister was trying to download textbooks from said they couldn’t be downloaded to a mobile device, only to a real computer.
@@lorensims4846 ah I see. Thanks for the response!
I really enjoyed your video editing videos. Maybe one day could you do a full tutorial? maybe make a video editing video on how you edited your video editing video.
It looks great, especially that screen on the 12.9 inch model. But Apple still needs to update the file system and bring Final Cut to the iPad IOS before it works for me. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
Yea we need definitely more apps that have access and can edit from a external SSD drive. Apple should be ashamed about making it probably difficult to add this functionality to IOS-Apps. Does someone know some video editing apps beside Final-Cut, that would be able to use external SSD as editing possibility?
@@Boudi-xy9by Obviously not lol its apple, they ensure there is no loopholes around this
@@Boudi-xy9by LumeFusion.
Final Cut Pro is now on the iPad Pro.
What I’m wondering now is how to save videos from a phone that are .mp4 into a format that you can use….. strictly from phone to the iPad …. How to make them a usable file?????
Cant beleive how good the new 11” M1 sounds.
Gary. Can you do a tutorial for luma fusion ? I see you doing things a bit different than I do. But you’re going so fast I can’t see what you’re doing.
Awesome tips I learned so much!
It's a good video to understand the workflow of editing, thank you! Just a note that not all videos are equal, most of my videos are weekend travels, made of 200+ different video files coming from gopros, dslrs, insta360's 360 footage (which i need to export first with the insta360 app). My guess is that i would only be able to do some of the initial timeline cut with Rush, before moving to a laptop. Moving all the sequences around in the timeline is not very covenient with a small screen, also having 5+ tracks on top of each other, 3 audio tracks and 2 subtitles tracks is probably taking most of the screen spacs... with that said, I'll get the ipad mini soon and I hope it can help my workflow by doing some of the work while I'm not home! 😊
I currently edit videos w an iPhone 12 ProMax.. I’ve made several viral videos w it.. pretty amazing device
Man thank you for showing me I think it's worth and about to get the 2020 4gen pro
Could you please tell me which one did you get out of these storage and ram versions, to edit your video so smoothly please (on the M1 Ipad pro 12.9) ?
Apple iPad Pro 12.9 (2021)
Internal 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM, 512GB 8GB RAM, 1TB 16GB RAM, 2TB 16GB RAM
Can you make a sidecar video using Final Cut Pro? I have a 2020 iPad Pro and want to get a MacBook Air for a portable set up. Also could you use the scopes with that setup?
Hey what would you suggest in the below mentioned scenario:
I have a Macbook pro 13 inch 2016. My Macbook has started showing age with battery and speaker faults.
My usage is internet surfing, youtube, extensive use of email, video confrencing apps, microsoft office and preview from apple.
Should i buy the new macbook pro 13inch or get the iPAd pro (both in 512GB configuration). I dont do any video editings or other heavy duty stuff. Maybe gaming for COD sometimes and thats about it.
Also since i dont really care for the screen resolution - if its an iPad pro should it be 11 inch or 12.9 inch? and if an ipad will have to get the pencil and the magic keybaord
Was waiting for this your only editing computer video...
Will be interesting to find out what Lumafusion say with scopes, image stabilisation and speed ramping coming, and ultimately whether the 8gb is enough. Would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Ps. They have announced scopes, speed ramping and stabilisation are coming this year.
Could you do the same thing on an iPad 2018? Just open the same luma project and export? Cheers!
Hi,
how about editing 4K HDR video is that easy? I want to get one to edit 4K HDR video game clips, i heared its easier on ipad pro + lumafusion then using professional software on PC, its less complicated and more natural?
I was wondering, even if you color edit in this amazing display with precision is not going to be what your audience will actually see, maybe 10% at maximum. Wouldn’t be better to get a good display but closest for what most of people have and treat the image in the way that most of the people will see what you want them to see? Exemple: when I color grade a video on iPad and put on Tv is soo distorced of what I’ve done ;/. Please this is actually a really honest question. Cheers
im considering this work setup for editing videos. Apple has release final cut pro on most recent Ipads
I've been watching A LOT of your videos and i just realized I was not subscribed. OMG
just bought an over-priced MacBook pro to edit basic YT videos. This will literally be 1/3 the price. Is this all I really need? Thank you.
Videoediting with Adobe Premiere Rush works with one filmclip but as soon as I import more it either crashes or just get eeeeeeeeextremely sloooow.
Pleasure to watch you work 👌🏾
Sweet I was gonna get a Mac mini but im liking what I see
Has anyone done the download speed test using a SD UHS-II card reader with a UHS-II rated card with the M1 iPad and a non M1 iPad? Or a USB-C SSD download/upload with a M1 iPad and a non M1 iPad?
Just to check to see if the interface USB-C/Thunderboldt as speed bottleneck or the internal storage in the device. As a photographer download speeds from the SD cards and transfer a speed to a portable SSD like the Samsung T5 are important to me currently
I’m curious if you tried using the Touch ID on the iMac keyboard with the iPad Pro???
I heard somewhere that u can't even edit a text file on iPad.. is it true?
And the file manager in iPad is like iPhone and it sucxx beyond expectations
Can I edit 360 videos on iPad easily?
Which one would be the best Lumafusion or edobe premier ?
Does the touch id on the magic keyboard unlock the ipad
Ive been using mine for a day already and so far I’ve already used it to draw on Procreate, watching Netflix, RUclips, and playing Genshin Impact
Is Procreate working fine? I’ve been wondering about upgrading and Procreate’s my main use for the iPad. Thanks !
@@swiftcoderonmac Why wouldnt it? it works great
Been using an ipad to edit for about 2 years now
Some people don’t understand the power of portability and less weight
I’ve used an ipad for a wedding same day edit and i can literally stand behind as the camera rolls and edit, the wifi sd card from the camera is feeding me footage as it goes....if the bride’s car gets stuck in traffic getting to the church no time is wasted...same as travelling back to the reception you can edit and edit and edit... it eliminates the need to wait to get out of the car and setup, needing to connect cables and power up which is time consuming... ipad makes quick editing jobs less stressful
You can! Rendered 4K with LF lightening fast!
Can you try to edit an video of yours entirely on an iPhone ? Love your videos btw
Great demo Gary! Would it be possible to see you do the same demo with the 11in version? Just wondering if the color grading is doable on a non-xdr screen...thanks!
what is the keyboard ure currently using in this video ? cheers
Nice video Gary! I love your contents. Do you still believe on this video in 2023? Is the Ipad Pro, can be my editing computer?
Wait can you do editing off of an external hardrive, because I would only be able to buy a 256 gb iPad at most if not the base 128gb. Which I doubt is enough to do editing on the iPad itself.
Isn’t it easier to edit on ipad vs mac air pad cursor?
Where did you get the mouse and keyboard and can you get more colors
What happened to your audio Gary? It got some feedback? I always watch your videos. Take care man!
does anyone know about the red keyboard ? Is that from Apple? I’ve checked Amazon and Apple, and can’t see it - ?? Model # ? Thanks so much!!
😊
I'm like 80% doing my freelance on procreate. Im kinda cringed with the limited layers on 4k files though. on my 2018 ipad pro
Hello from France. It will be right when we will edit in external ssd! Today it means having a great memory in iPad €€€€€€€€!!!!! When will they put fcp on ipados?!?!?!!!!! Thanks for all your work!
quick question..I'm a pc user but I'm going to start shooting with a 360 cam (insta360 one x 2)...can this ipad handle it? I'm thinking of editing with Mac cuz it's better
Is it easy and smooth If I download Adobe and use it on iPad?
I wounder what's better this ipadpro 2020 or the surface pro7
great video! what video editing program is this?
This thing is a beast! Can’t wait to get one ⌨️🎧📱
This is going to be more interesting when WWDC happens
Yea if they announce MacOS for iPad
l
If final cut comes to iPad after WWDC we need a part 2
@@kartikaybhardwaj they won’t do that. It’ll be the Pro apps, improved file management, and proper external monitor support. 😎
Agreed. Waiting for true external monitor support. Waiting for someone to really address this issue in their videos and especially for Apple to solve it with IOS 15.
It is possible to edit directly from a external HD (without to import the files)? I’m starting to realise that the 2020 iPad Pro can be the better choice…
That went smooth!
Is this the 8GB RAM 512GB Storage iPad, or is it the upgraded iPad Pro with the 1TB storage and 16GB RAM? Thanks for the content!
I am excited for my 12-9 iPad as my computer.
Hey there! I must say I love your videos in general, but honestly they've gotten kinda similar if not the same... that goes for the iPad/MacBook Accessoires Videos and the "editing computer" kinds. I mean it as a good critique, but it has just become way less interesting to watch your videos because the content is so similar every week. And I wanna continue warching your vidz!!! Anyways, love the channel and thanks for your work!
I’ve actually switched from final cut to lumafusion on for 10.5” iPad Pro for editing recently and nobody has noticed
Cuz u have no video on channel bruh
@@kartikaybhardwaj This isn’t my primary channel
@@ConorORegan oh sorry
@@kartikaybhardwaj it’s an easy misunderstanding
With all your 7 subscribers
What display settings are you using?
Does anyone know if I can use production crate .mov files in Lumafusion?
i am using my iphone 8 as my only editing maskine and it’s Greate!
Is the video you made on the iPad pro available?
Can you run Davinci Resolve on it??
I’m still editing videos on my iPad Air 1st gen, still does the job as I only shoot in1080p, just did a 13 min export with transitions voice over and music track (I don’t colour grade) 7 min.
With an iPad Pro M1 I won’t have time to go for a coffee what’s the fun in that... But I will upgrade to iPad Air 4 or an iPad Pro 11” as going forward I will shoot in 4K/60, the Pro is expensive v the Air 4 so I’m on the fence, i keep my tech a long time so it’s more about future proofing for me than the upfront price.
Yea I am still on an Air 2. Looking forward to the next budget iPad release.
hi any updates which one did you buy? I also want to buy ipad pro 11' for youtube video editing and content creation but it's pricey for me so I'm considering ipad air 4
@@IAMMARTA Hi Marta, I bought the iPad Air 4 Wi-Fi/cell 256gb, I would have liked the Pro but just couldn’t stretch the € that far, mainly for more storage 256gb is the smallest I want, 512 would be better but another 400 €.
I don’t buy this idea of only minimum storage and using external HD, minimum on the Pro is 128gb which is only 50 € more than the Air 4 256 which doesn’t work for me.
The Air 4 can handle everything thing I throw at it, the only thing the Pro has that’s better is Thunderbolt & USB-4, USB-C is defiantly slower at file transfer to external SSD which I do a lot but it’s not a deal breaker.
I also have the Logitech Crayon & keyboard case which having function keys is way better than the Apple keyboard as the iPad is my main device, the old 2009 iMac is gathering dust.
I’m still using the iPad Air 2 to edit videos in 2023 💀 it’s on life support so I desperately need an upgrade
Good video, but at thelat price, better choose pro m1 ?
Watching on my new 2021 iMac in blue ❤️
I’m waiting WWDC , to make my decision
I really like the new M1 iPad Pro 2021 but while it is so expensive, I will take it if it’s really will replace my computer 👍🏻
Wait even longer iPadOS 15 will not be out until this fall when the next iphone comes out. You have time, save some extra money and get the best option for your needs. Don’t forget the 2020 iPad Pro also displays hdr content.
@@SilenusAnkh
I really need it , but I should wait
My Microsoft Surface still doing his job
Thank you 🙏🏼
Awesome video Thanks
We also need a camera settings video and how to shoot
Nice one great vid
Did you use a 8gb Or a 16gb Ram iPad Pro for this video ?
which iPad do you have? Is it the 16gb ram model?
Did it heat up? I hoping to use it for my document writing and editing. My current iPad Pro tends to heat up quickly and slow down a bit while I"m using my wireless keyboard. I'm hoping it's zippier than the predecessor and stays cooler.
You waited and answered at the end. LOL Thanks! That's what I was hoping for.
nice video, yet I am skeptical about the screen. I am not sure it is convenient to calibrate (I meant to color grade) using a screen that has qualities that basically no other person's screen would have. so what I could see in the iPad Pro M1, is definitely not what 99% of my audience base will see. am I missing the point?
There are a lot more people using devices that can display hdr content then you seem to think. My 2017 10.5 iPad Pro can play hdr content. Please feel free to make hdr content for people to enjoy.
Next video: use the iPad camera for video and audio recording and edit directly on it.
Great video as always
Yes I’d love to see that!!!
Can you edit directly from external drive? I am honestly thinking of buying one of those with 128 gb and do video editing on it if is possible to edit from ssd.
You will be able to do that next week when LumaFusion 3.0 will come out. Is will be free update.
Unless they bring final cut, logic and Da Vinci resolve into iPads, nothing can convince me to get one.
I still use the first gen iPad Pro 12.9 I use luma fusion and edit my go pro 4k videos without any hiccups
Can I render and export a 1 hr. video in 4k.
My Nana ordered an iPad pro SoI just hope it's good video ending
we need an updated video. a lot has changed in recent years.
Phhewww😅😅
