Can we use this ipad as my only development setup (xcode, vscode, simulator, android studio) ? with the keyboard of course.
Have you thought of making a video about editing? I watched Taran from LTT do that and he showed all his tips and tricks. It was 3 hours and it was fascinating from beginning to end even though I don't edit videos.
The video I want to know. Going down from 2018 12.9 to the new 11” with 8 gig ram and do better, faster editing, writing and uploading.
Honestly, the new price increase. And… the size of the 12.9 with magic keyboard is a bit more than I want to continue lugging around everyday. I am still debating between the 8 gig model or pay the extra money for the 16 gig model. Just concerned the smaller 11” will have more throttling issues with the 16 gig in that 11” body.
Well, good luck with plug-ins for these who have heavily invested on plugins. Luma Fusion is fine for basic stuff have a very very basic titles, transactions and effects and depending on what sort of videos you make, your job my rely on plugins (like the ones from Motion Vfx) Even FCPX platform would be nothing without the plugins. Until that’s possible on the iPad Pro, then the answer for many may be No, you can’t.
Would you have preferred the 12.9inch?
Super video as usual. I see that you use your fingers when you scrub the video. Can’t you use jkl keys in combination with the arrow keys when using the keyboard?
can we use this device instead of 2016 macbook pro for transfer files from ssd to external ssd? if yes can i expect almost same tranfer speed if not same... since Im a wedding photographer i just need this device to transfer files on location.. all. the editing works will be done by using m1 mac mini.. looking to sell macbook pro.
Gary...Have you tried the app FE File explorer on the ipad pro. I use it and it lets you know the speed and ETA of a file copy. Enjoying the videos.

M1XDR iPad, Blooming effects especially noticeable at night might just be the mini led, vibrant moving grains when using the center stage front-facing camera, XDR screen but no HDR content or at least supported yet for the new iPad screen ( is all this normal?). Also, any free Adblock that actually works on iPadOS safari ?
What I love most is that he went from using the mouse to using his fingers. That’s because his brain knew that editing was faster just using the touch interface. I specifically like editing with the pencil

You still have to transfer them.

LumaFusion will update with optimization for M1, also add multicamera support and video stabilization like FCP, until then those test makes no sense at least with the M1. (LumaFusion forums)

I just don't see working this way. It's like you're still clinging to a mouse, a keyboard and a desk. If you sit on a sofa with an iPad Pro in your lap and have no other distractions, you can make a ton of video content. The touchscreen is the intuitive interface that frees the mind to work directly with the footage. It just doesn't belong on a desk. So the 11" is perfect. You can edit comfortably which translates into getting more work done. Of course, the option of "desking up" and using the iPad for other tasks is a good thing. Steve Jobs would recline in an easy chair with the iPad Pro and edit. He would not sit at a desk.

Could you please do a video on editing Sony 4K XAVC S footage on an iPad? I've read online there are some issues to overcome when working with that particular file type on iPad. Would love to get a clear explanation of it.

Yeah apparently this used to be a limitation of iPadOS. I too have no issue editing XAVC footage on my MacBook. That said, I’m guessing it’s no longer an issue on iPadOS either, as it seemed to handle my XAVC footage no problem. 👍 I haven’t edited a full video on it, but the footage imported and played on the timeline with zero issues.

@@tylercambre Nice! I think you’ll really enjoy using the iPad to edit. I use Lumafusion, and it’s great for being such an inexpensive program. I think they either just released or are about to release a new version of it as well that allows you to edit from an external SSD. Good stuff!! Same to you! 😃

Just bought Luma Fusion last night. got very good results fast with an iPad Pro 11 256gb model. Handled my Z6 4K footage NP. It isn't as good as Premiere Pro but its 39 canadian. I want audio sync for this app. That would be amazing to me. This is a good video. I like what youre doing

Until the day we can edit video from external drive is coming into iPad, I'm not buying any iPad.
It's clearly iPad has the computation power to do video edit. But that external drive limitations is holding me down.
I believe it's to protect their Mac sales.
But I do believe this is the future for editing.
That day is almost here. LumaFusion already announced that you will be able to do full external drive editing with next update… applies only to thunderbolt M1’s

Thing is - I have an iPsd Air 4 - it is totally fine for editing in 4K on Luma Fusion. These new iPads are a case of the emporers new clothes TBH. and is Apple trunning a scam. Better of with an iPad Air for a tablet and a Macbook M1 air. That combo is still actually cheaper than a specced up iPad 12.9 inch. I am not sure what Apple is up to TBH!!

Can I edit and record HDR video in ipad 11.
One big problem with any ipad right now. Zoom is limited, very limited. You cannot create breakout rooms in Zoom. I have no idea why a person can get into a breakout room, but you cannot create them on the ipad/iphone. Apple is bound and determined to make ipads for consumption and Macs for production.

With the TB3 can’t you edit straight off the sd card?
LumaFusion currently does not support this, it requires importing them into App workspace. They did announce editing straight from external media for their next major update.

Literally every RUclipsr only cares about video editing and stuff .. dude.. listen "not everyone edits video".. it would be nice if you also consider things like CAD, Engineering softwares , Video call software support, Software development etc... Are these things even supported in iPad?

No way with current iPadOS. It's just too limited
To me simple things that are still missing
1. Multi User support like MacOS, Windows, Linux, Unix, Android has had for ages.
2. External screen output at native external screen resolution and not just screen mirror but a proper second screen
3. Keep working on improving file manager at least offering ability to format external storage with different filesystems and better file copy status indicator especially over network.
4. Support more filesystems for external storage
5. Consolidate all settings for keyboard, mouse, pen in one menu option rather than scattered everywhere
6. On the topic of mouse and keyboard the use of it can still be improved, mouse input using web office productivity apps on Safari is still flakey for both O365 and Google Docs.
7. Need a App tray like iOS just got or MacOS, Android has had for many years. I really really don't need all my damn apps on my desktop like I'm a toddler
8. Ability to place widgets anywhere allowing me to have a clean clutter free desktop
9. Full on MacOS Safari and Chrome from the Mac. Not glorified desktop like mobile versions. Online design services like Marvel Apps or even AWS consoles work well on desktop but simply does not work well on iPad. Heck some online services like Sendgrid, the console just crashes on login.
10. Perhaps a bit more freedom to sideload apps. Really frustrating that apps like Synology DSGet is not allowed on iOS. (I know this will ever happen)
11. Hopefully all that Mac Silicone productivity/pro apps make their way to iPad too like full MS Office rather than the current gimped mobile version. Would love to also see Flutter, final cut, Adobe suite, xcode on it.
Sadly, its clear Apple still think of the iPad as a large iPhone/Toy/Consumption device
I am hoping they will draw a line though the iPad family where the Pro line actually gets a more Pro OS and the regular iPads that are more geared towards consumption, running the mobile OS aka iPadOS
