I agree that, at the moment, the base iPad is the best proposition. Until iPad OS evolves in a substantial way, the usage experience is pretty much the same no matter the hardware, so paying 2x and even 3x the money makes little sense.

Another way to look at it is an iPad is one giant screen, so the one with the best screen? Unfortunately that’s super expensive but a 12.9” ProRes m1 iPad sells on eBay for a similar price as the baseline IPad which is pretty insane value. Food for thought :)

It’s not overwhelming, it’s cheaper than other iPad models but has a sleek design and newer than the 9th gen. Also, the camera is in landscape mode so when I film myself for a presentation or do online lectures, I don’t look awkward. I also finished my research paper completely reliant on this iPad.

Just replaced my 2018 iPad Pro with the latest 2024 13 inch and am so pleased and happy with it and the apple keyboard. I think I had waited long enough for the upgrade. I once used the paperlike for about 6 months but found it dulled my screen so much, that when I removed the cover it was like night and day that I had missed the glossiness of the true iPad screen for so long. Paperlike is pointless with a now tandem oled screen. Nice video thank you.

As a past time artist, I was using the base 10th the last 1 or 2 years. It’s good but I absolutely hate charging the pen. You’re dependent on your iPad having enough battery to support it since you can’t charge it at the same time. The screen is also very plasticky feeling and you notice how the top screen layer bends when pressing it. The 10,9” is fine, but it gets a bit cramped and I would 100% upgrade to a 12,9” or the 13” if you aren’t a total beginner artist. The screen is also a tad muddy i feel, and it is pretty hard to watch movies in a well lit area. Definitely loved it, and the pink colour was absolutely stunning, but I’m definitely looking to upgrade. Though I can’t figure out for the life of me if I should choose a 4, 5 ir 6 gen pro, or the new 13” air.

I own iPad Pro M1 12.9”. Based on the online reviews that M4 iPad Pro with OLED got even brighter, colourful, perfect black level screen etc., I ordered one to see if I should replace my M1 Pro. I found indeed it is brighter, better contrast and more punchy colours and of course buttery smooth.
What I did not like is that it has quite a warmer tone, skins tone is not great. When I kept M1 and M4 Pro side by side it was quite evident - M1 I found more neutral and natural colours. I’ve done lots of photo editing and quite sensitive to colour accuracy - did not find M4 convincing enough to and worth $1,300 USD.
May be later OLED improvement would be better, for now M1 Pro continues to be excellent.

I agree with the recommendations here - if you are looking for a simple iPad, go for the 10th gen iPad. If you want a nice secondary laptop style experience, get the 13’ Air.
If Apple were to trim down their product portfolio, it would simply come down to keeping the basic iPad and the current Air (maybe with a 120hz option). And hopefully one pencil to support both lines. Everything else in their iPad lineup is unnecessary right now.

Basic stuff, obviously, but also tons of pdfs with my nerd old-school rpg (D&D and more)… also, more importantly, I’ve been using just and only base model (except for storage) iPads to do full-on music creation/production with multiple apps, etc for years. Never once needed an iPad Air nor an iPad Pro.
Also, as I’ve transferred everything from iPad to iPad, and saving tons of docs, samples, music files, music production tools, etc….. I’ve used a total of 52GB…..over 7 years!

anything above 11 inch is a pain to have to continuously hole in your hand, sure you can get a cover etc but the big screen Ipads or tablets in general can't do anything better than a 4K laptop with OLED and you can sit it on your lap, adjust the screen without having to hold it. I do love my Ipad air 5th Gen though. Just wish it had a proper OS.
For most people though who just browse and look at streaming media a cheaper OLED android would probably be better with better aspect ratio for watching movies, netflix etc.

for me, i am going with the ipad air 11" 256gb(forgot the exact amount oop) i use my ipad a lot, and i need an ipad for school as i need to use canva for yearbook club. i also use capcut and i have A LOT of pictures and edits and currently have 128gb on my ipad which from looking at my storage, will prob run out soon. i might go with the base ipad 10, but for now i'm going with the ipad air 11" 256(?) gb. i do want the bigger screen, but i'm just too broke to afford to pay 200 more dollars for essentially just better sound, screen(?), maybe more. i also have an ipad 5th gen so honestly it wont even matter that much to me since all of these options are much better one than my current ipad

I had the 8th gen and it’s much better and I love the 5G connectivity and it’s much better than the 8 I love center stage on the camera and 64gb is the best I just use my iPad as a bigger screen for watching things and i don’t care about Apple intelligence tbh I don’t like ai

I have had iPads for 9+ years, six months ago I purchased a Samsung Tab 9 ultra
My needs are media consumption, browsing and email, I never used the Pro features much - what ever they are!
Samsungs wider screen was a deal breaker and Dex is so much better than Apples attempt.
Other than AppleTV no available all other apps I used are..

The big thing the 11” iPad Air has going for it is that if you’re going to increase the base storage on the 10th gen cuz 64gb is so small, you’d might as well get a base air instead.

I'm eyeing the mini as a companion device for my Tab S9+. The Galaxy device already checks a lot of stuff, like the landscape camera, 4k video video, oled, s-pen, hover features, art programs, DEX, and many other things. I need the mini for sketching on the go, better palm rejection using Procreate, Adobe apps and the pencil ( I have the Wacom One pen, but Apple does the pencil nib better.)

If Apple doesn't update the iPad Mini by the middle of next year, I have a feeling we might be seeing a foldable IPhone in late 2024 or early 2025. A foldable iPhone would destroy Mini sales, so it makes sense for it to be possibly discontinued.

Apples certified refurb is basically new. They only reuse the motherboard. They have 12.9 inch m2 ipads with the miniled hdr display for 889 US. I think that is a much better value than an m4 that doesnt really give you more utility.

I actually use the cellular feature on both my iPad 9th gen and 10th gen because there will be times when that will come in very handy for you. Their are times when you won't have access to wifi i highly recommend it. I have been using the hatoku gen 1 and recently bought the hatoku gen 2 apple pencil alternative at $20 from amazon you can't go wrong just fyi I'm not an artist i only use it for productivity purposes.

if they would added 120Hz screen to 11" or 13" 2024 Air with the same price, i would already bought it. Its too old technology for Air's. Honor Magic Pad 2 is clear winner (sadly without Google). Maybe i give Apple 1 year time to develop their iPads and wait one year. Or not. Those are not worthy. Very honest review, thanks!

The iPad Mini is more like a giant phone if you go for the cellular model. A foldable phone makes more sense than an iPad Mini since the screen sizes are very similar.

The iPad (10th Generation) is the best value device on the market, full stop. For a lot of users, they don’t need all the power of the laptop and the iPad provides a high-quality and provides an inexpensive alternative to a laptop.
My wish for the iPad range is that Apple gives the iPad Mini and the iPad the same tech specs and adds a 13” model to the base range. On pure units sold, Apple sells 2.2 iPad units for every MacBook sold; thus, having an additional 13” model will give end users more options.

Hi, Vahid from Hamburg has a suggestion for you:
Please make your voice on video with a normal speed of talking and more naturally. It seems that after recording, you increase the speed of your speaking in the final cut. This decreases the understanding for non-English speakers and makes your videos, or similar ones, more annoying. Because of adhering to this principle, MKBHD videos are more interesting and understandable for non-English people.
Everything else on your channel is awesome. ❤ Thanks 🎉
