It's scary to imagine how many insanely good Linkin Park tracks never got released and stayed on the demo stage.

They all sound like bangers. Meteora could've easily been a double album like Use Your Illusion

Your lyrics kept my mind in the right place in many situations, you don’t have a clue on how big this music is for me. when my daddy died I was turning 12, your songs mixed the right amount of anger, pain, but also relief, kept me safe from going insane, I had a friend in those lyrics that knew exactly how I was feeling and every line written in your work spoke to me and told me that I was falling, that I was in pain and I was losing myself, and also that I must go on and free the pain to clean myself and start over again. Thank you.

I wonder if the guitar sample looping in Fort Minor's song "Kenji" was recorded in the same project they recorded this one in. I can imagine it as an idea someone in the band had, but they scrapped it in favor of this one. Then a year later during recording of The Rising Tied, mike just stumbles upon it.

I’m so thankful for all the Linkin park songs we have and the gems of demos being released but I have to admit.. every once in a while the thought creeps in of what could have been, all the future songs that could have been. I feel bad for even thinking about it but it makes me sad sometimes. Then again I’m forever grateful for the incredible years and the albums we have been blessed with that will be forever there. Thank you LP.
Agreed!! I was thinking the same thing, I'm almost angry that these gems were never concluded and put on an album. I personally really miss their nu metal sound. No one did it better.
@@mrm700 I feel that way as well. I loved their nu metal sound, but not necessarily even just for the aggressive tones.
Even something like this demo just carries a different sound with it despite it sounding like something that would probably fit in with their later albums. I love the way the guitars sound on Meteora from a mixing and producing standpoint as well as the specific chords that they chose. Those super dissonant full chords instead of power chords really adds this fullness.
I know that they wanted to experiment with their sound, but I do wish we had gotten more songs where they went back and said, "Hey, we're going to mix something and make the sound more similar to Meteora even if the song is more pop or more techno sounding overall."
I can't speak on behalf of EVERY Linkin Park fan, but the thing I've come to learn is that people who enjoy art are often terrible at explaining what they like about it. Their feedback is, "I dunno, make it as good as the last thing you did. Just do that again. I liked that."
I have the benefit of having grown up to be a casual musician (casual as in I don't professionally do anything in music, but I still went to college for music and learned a ton of things in the process) and now, with the 20th anniversary re-release giving me reason to listen to and analyze all of these songs again on top of all the unreleased stuff, I think that the thing I wanted them to copy more than anything else was just the overall mixing and the guitar tonality.
I don't need the screaming or the nu metal, I just love the way the guitar sounds. I love the atmosphere of the songs. Meteora has always stood out to me as having this unique quality about it specifically because of all of the little things that have next to nothing to do with the actual genre of the music itself, I just didn't know it at the time.
I love you linkin park. Your music helped me through my darkest days

This is so good, I believe these songs were kept as demo as it wasn't quite finish. But somehow I found this to be right for our time, it has indie music kind of feel to it, like something I would come across on Bandcamp or some other indie music sites.
