Lyrics:
I've seen her smiling
The sunlight shining on her now
She couldn't stay here
She knows you won't let her down
You know she couldn't stay here with you
You know she had to go
Even though she couldn't stay here with you
You know you're not alone.
No matter what you think you did wrong
She knew she had to go all along
No matter what you think you did wrong
She knew she had to go all along
I've seen her shining
The sunlight's crying for her now
She wouldn't stay here
She knows you won't let her down
You know she couldn't stay here with you
You know she had to go
Even though she couldn't stay here with you
You know you're not alone
No matter what you think you did wrong
She knew she had to go all along
No matter what you think you did wrong
She knew she had to go all along

It's refreshing to hear Chester's voice in 2020. This world is so broken right now...
Chester made the world a brighter place!
True
It's always been pretty dark&broken, but maybe we didn't realize fully to what extent. But I have to say, we gotta stay at least a bit positive deep inside, and keep trying to cope, and change things for the better... die trying.
Music helps.

This song feels both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, like a sense of "new" nostalgia from a time that has long passed us by.
True
The chorus to me instantly felt like I had heard it before.
I think it reminds me of some Buddhist/Asian meditation music I used to listen to as a kid to aid falling asleep XD
Related: Anemoia - Nostalgia for a time that didn't exist.
I got a lot of "My December" vibes, that's why it felt so familiar to me
Well it might feel familiar since it was leaked 11 years ago in 2009 and it was available on RUclips ever since. But I am happy it is finally available in decent quality. :)
This song is like a time machine.

Very good to see all those photos and media, but keep strong, friend. In need, search for help.
The song feels very Hybrid Theory to me, maybe even the sound of their EP. With those photos it's definitely a trip. It's amazing how their sound evolved over the years and you can tell what Era a song was in.
Just brings so much emotion right? Didn't know I needed to cry but wow.
This song, is like finding an old message from a friend who has passed, a short video wishing you happy birthday, an old voice mail just checking in on you and hoping you having a good day, Something so familiar you feel nostalgia from but entirely new cause you had never found it before. Every time i listen to this, i cry, not just cause i miss chester, but this brings me back to that era of Hybrid Theory. LP has been with me thru most of my life, and i really cant express how much this band has influenced me, saved my life and kept me going. Thank you LP,
I couldn't describe it any better.
For a lot of people LP has been joy and solid ground, for good or bad. Looking at your comment i can't find better words than the ones you used.
Out yeah. Linkin Park was and is an inspiration for me. But now at the time I can understand Chester Bennington. Because only a person with depression can understand another person with depression. Even I won't get old. 40 or 50 is a good age because you are, mostly, in the middle of life and at this time it's going downhill with the health. And without the best friend like he was, even I don't know what I've done in this situation. I can understand him
@@96EisbrecherFan I hope you'll get to enjoy the small things again, and after 40-50 as well (if we're alive)... It requires effort and *some* deep positivity (some breaks from reality etc), which is so hard to find when you see even life itself is crumbling down, but yeah.
💕
It's sad to think we won't be able to see with nostalgy a 70 years old Chester receiving ovations, awards and singing. I wannted Linkin Park to play till 2045.

Sad to see this music disappear the way it has. I used to blast this music on my old stereo system. This music kind of forged my personality as a child
Hybrid Theory is one of those albums that defined a generation. Seriously, EVERYONE I knew had a copy of this album. It absolutely permeated every facet of early 2000s culture.
I still listen to it man. It takes me back to a simpler time.

I'm a 2001 born but I'll agree with you my man Scott...
Linkin Park has been there for me everytime... Whenever you're happy or sad Linkin Park's songs can entertain you.... And due to Linkin Park only I started listening to this genre
Bro I was born in 2004 and Hybrid Theory has defined my taste in music, I was always into Linkin Park but last year I listened to all of hybrid theory for the first time and I was hooked, LP, SOAD and Slipknot got me into the Nu Metal scene and I'm pretty grateful for it.
Chester Charles Bennington:
He was a voice.
He was an inspiration.
He was an artist.
He was a father.
He was a husband.
He was a human....
And now he's a legend.
The best ever.
He was a legend before his death.

@Aierek I'm aware, But the band never released it themselves. It was leaked in 2009 when Hybrid Theory 8-Track cds were being sold on Ebay.

Can we have a Chester biopic/documentary? His life is a lesson in partnership and empathy. The more people get to understand and see that, the better, I think.
Indeed. A lot of cyncical and selfish people in this world and there are these people that are his fans. The reality, Chester doesn’t tolerate hatred and negativity.
I've heard that Chris Cornell and he were working on exposing a trafficking ring. I don't know the motivation for writing this song but I could see how this song could come into play with that. Those are 2 people 2020 could really use...
RogueZ350 This song was made 20 years before that though

Biopic is a great idea!
Id say move on and focus on people who you got on 2020, theres no point dwelling on the past jist accept that some people are depressed and thats life but we also got millions of people who have had so much fun and babies and wives and great summers coz of a five man band with few managers and mixers, like if Queen can tour with Adam Lambert still to this day why LP couldnt have a second run. Theyre still very talented people who got huge, loyal global fanbase throwing money and love around very freely

I met Chester 10 years ago. Linkin Park was playing in my country that day and we were chasing him just to see him from afar, but when he spotted us outside of a restaurant, he was kind enough to get close to say hi and sign autographs. I was so nervous that I didn't want to let go of my little notebook and he smiled and asked to give it to him. My friend hugged him and he returned the hug. I wish I had had the guts to do the same then, but what a lovely bloke! He won't be forgotten :)

Linkin Park literally saved my life 13 years ago. I was deeply depressed and suicidal. I wanted to download music to listen to as I “went” and somehow found Numb. It was like the song had been written for/about me. I listened to more of their songs and saw the amazing community of fans and realised that I wasn’t alone.
I got the chance to meet them in 2014 and shook Chester’s hand and told him thank you. It was honestly the best day of my life.
Everyday is a struggle when you have mental health problems but, like you will have heard many times before, you have to be strong. Even if it’s just to get out of bed. Set that as a goal and achieve it. Then set bigger and bigger goals.

That was me 20 years ago. Hybrid Theory saved my life. It's been one hell of a rollercoaster ride for me for the last 20 years and it seems like everytime I'm struggling LP either released a new song or a new album and it pulled me back. Hybrid came out 2 weeks after my moms best friend passed from cancer she was like an aunt to me I loved her so much and I was struggling so bad. Meteora came out not long after my grandpa died which I also struggled hard with. One more light came out a month after my niece died. Then the most amazing experience happened in 2019. Chester was gone but he still showed up when I needed it most. My father had passed away from cancer I was sitting on my floor making photo boards for his funeral (closed casket) crying so hard cuz it hit me like a ton of bricks at that moment. My phone chimed look at the notification its youtube. "Mark Morton cross off feat Chester Bennington" I of course cried even harder because although he was gone it was like chester knew I needed him. There was something with every album but to put them all here this would be a very long comment. 20 years worth of LP or Chester being there for me is alot.
One step closer explained my teenage years and in the end is still my favorite song ever

Listen to Grey Daze, they're fantastic
"She Couldn't" is very differently stylistically from other Linkin Park material at the time. It is over five minutes in length and features an extended instrumental breakdown. "She Couldn't" also one of the softest songs the band has produced, particularly from the Hybrid Theory era. This is also an extremely rare case of a Linkin Park song sampling music from another artist. "She Couldn't" samples Mos Def's vocals from "B-Boy Document '99" by High & Mighty.
Although the demo CD was advertised as being a 1998 demo, "B-Boy Document '99" was released on August 24, 1999, on High & Mighty's album Home Field Advantage, meaning the song had to have been written around that date. The track was also present on The Urban Network's 1999 compilation Rapology Sixteen which featured illustrations by Mike Shinoda.[2] It's possible this CD is where he first heard the song.
On July 3, 2009, after LPLive released the full CD for free download, Mike posted on his blog about the song, "Many of you have asked about an old demo that is floating around. The song is called “She Couldn’t.” We recorded it in 1999 during the making of Hybrid Theory, but it never made an album and was never released by us. For legal reasons, that’s all I can say about the song, but I hope this clears things up!"[3]
The version of the song on the demo CD features static throughout the song as the initial pressing of the CD was faulty.

The comment section is just so wholesome. All of us LP soldiers getting together to enjoy this 💜💜.
Thank you Linkin Park. And Chester, you are still missed.

I can already see people listening to this song after 10 years and feeling nostalgic..
You do know this song is almost 20 years old already?
on god
The montage of old pictures in this dark-greenish filter only adds to the experience. Imagine, it's been 23 years since they came up with these songs.
In hindsight, I'm blessed to be alive. We all are.
Dear stranger,
I just wanted to tell you that you have good taste in music.
Have a nice day.
Thanks!
But I also listen to Charlie Puth, OneRepublic, Adele, XXXTENTACION and Chris Cornell

I've heard plenty of Linkin Park songs over my lifetime, but this year I've discovered Papercut, and have listened to Hybrid Theory in full + Reanimation.
How lucky am I to get a demo from that era + more in the same year!
I feel like I'm just discovering and experiencing the most authentic version of Linkin Park and it's so heartfelt, thank you for your existence!
You should listen to meteora, hybrid theory EP and songs from the underground

wow.. papercut was how my journey started.. well after seeing one step closer on mtv, of course. So i consider it somewhat the start of my LP journey. and what a powerful start it was ! i still love to play it on drums and i still can't master it quite to my own high standards.

you should really make some Linkin Park mixes bruh
Don't cry because he's gone, smile because he was here.

Omg this is magical. Feels like we took a trip back into the origin of the groups sound. Makes me feel young again.

This song was actually leaked about 7 years ago, also check out the LPU fan club CD's, they are full of demo's and unreleased tracks form every album, including Meteora!
Amen brother
the nostalgic Linkin Park sound color is strong in this song.. love it

The broken view - breaking the habit
It's a great cover, you should check it out. He comes pretty close to Chester's voice if it's about the soft parts. But his screams can't be covered. And I agree, he was unique.
Big love from Austria! ❤️

Yea. Just crazy now to think of how many those songs might been him really screaming for help.
Is great to hear a "new" song of this great band after all in 2020. Is a great feeling. Thanks to all the Linkin Park members and people behind for giving us such great songs though the years
I agree, it is incredible to have something like this to bring us back to Hybrid Theory and appreciating LP’s music ❤️
It's not "new" it's a great dedication from them and to us.

He was a good father.
He was a good husband.

I think this was there in one of their underground series records too...
@@ЕгорЦыба it's a demo but it isn't in any underground. Just a single demo without official release until now
I've never commented like this before, but hearing this new release and reading the comments.. I wanted to share my appreciation and love for LP too. I had heard many LP songs since they were released.. but it wasn't until 2007 that they became an every day part of my life. Early in 2007 an event occurred that tragically forever changed the course of my life and my children's lives. Sometime right after that I heard "What I've Done" for the first time.. and that was it.. Listening to Chester sing and scream those lyrics somehow said all the things I couldn't say. All the pain, of having to start life over, start again.. things I couldn't imagine at that time having to do. I kept him with me through the ups and downs of the next 13 years. I could always find a song that fit how I felt or what I needed to say but never could.. and it broke my heart when his light dimmed forever. Chester helped soooo many people.
The most beautiful souls often carry the deepest pain.
Thank you Linkin Park for helping me too.
This song is beautiful 💗💗.
I hope you're doing ok. Much love. We're all with you in this
This song in on RUclips for 7 years. It's not new
"Across the line","Blackbirds"and Mike Shinoda solo "No roads left".These are some others that weren't released.
Linkin Park and Chester's light will never dim. Christina, we're all different aged and belong from different places. But it's their music that binds us all together. That, my friend, can't be called dimming. Instead, much like us, their music will carry on stitching broken souls. Hope you've found your healing ❤️ stay safe.
Haha that's how I feel. "Comments don't get heard" is common thought in my head but the emotions don't care if anyone reads any of my comments or respones. I feel the need to share. Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone. Don't know you but means allot. Thank you
Chester may be gone but his voice will always stay immortal ...
R.I.P Chester sorry but Legends never dies 💪🌹
Every posted that music relase 4 years ago to celibrate 20yrs album... but.. how it possible i can hear this song on my brother discman maby in 2011-13 ?
hi, Chester, it's 2024 and we still need you, we all here listening to you're beautiful voice, you made our lives. world is crazy right now, but you help us all, we will love you forever, you we're with us and we will be with you, even when you not with us anymore.
Linkin Park was and will always be the soundtrack of my life.
Agree! Doesn’t matter how many years pass, these albums will always be my favorite music of all time!
The world isn't complete without Chester's singing/screaming alongside Mike's raps and the brilliant instrumentals of Hahn, Brad, Dave and Rob. Musical genius that shaped am era. Yet nobody since has captured their feeling of... Cinematic grandeur. That feeling that these songs MEAN something. That there is a world in your mind or beyond your eyes that resonates. I can't explain it. A lost feeling from a Walmart parking lot at 1am all alone, under the stars, flashes of lightning far away. And then off into a dream, of a place you've always been but never were in.
There was something so aethereal, science fiction, inner spirit or distant stars about their music. All while being totally street, totally grounded, relatable and relevant.
The perfect fusion of 90s and 2000s yet... So apart from those eras.
I never realized that the feeling I have when I'm listening to LP is that of a world beyond my mind and eye where the song resonates within. Now I get it. Thank you.
Man, Linkin Park was always into what was going on, through music era. I love them, but.... i just feel, like people are giving them too much credits. I believe, that all members are really talented and great musicians, but for example, Limp Bizkit is on another level with first album. Mainly their bassist, drummer, guitarist and even Fred, that was screaming, singing at the same time. The only difference is, that LP was more suited to people around the world, cause they had those self-reflected lyrics. But i feel, like all those bands like Faith No More, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot, Rage Against The Machine, were on another level with overall music and song writing, mainly production. And many bands, like Helmet, Alice In Chains and Nirvana, were there sooner with grounded and street-like "image". :) I will say this: i don't regret, that i have whole discography from LP, but all records - apart from Hunting Party, didn't aged well to my ears. Not cause they are cringy, or whatever...not at all - but cause overall production and i am now more into production, than ever. I miss more bass and those other bands, i named were on another level, with mix, raw sound and production/sound design. Nu-metal, rapcore or whatever the name is, was there sooner and LP was not the band, that "shaped" the era. It was Helmet, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, RATM and Faith No More.
Beautifully put in words ✨ Love to everyone of the LP fam
@@jackcravford8744 but Linkin Park is very universal. It is all inward reflective. Not about an era, culture, current or past politics.
Songs like Numb will ALWAYS be valid, regardless of culture or current events.
While many songs from these other groups only appeals to certain groups, certain eras.
It's why even in Linkin Park, Hands Held High will never be as great as Crawling. Hands Held High was about Bush era politics, it was great, but that era is gone. I don't feel it anymore. But Crawling is about internal emotions that anybody can feel, anywhere, anywho.
@@MilesTraveler I know backstories of these tracks, but mainly Numb, i can't listen anymore. Over-mixed, over-produced, autotuned, no bass at all - it didn't aged well in terms of sound design. Heavy backstory is just not enough for me. And you are still ignoring that fact, how Rage Against The Machine is important now, probably more than ever. And it does not have only some message behind - it has really awesome sound and instrumental work.
And i am curious, if you are even trying, listen to all bands and their songs, i named now. Cause they are writing lyrics in non-specific arrow. Which means, that you can have your own interpretation and that is much more difficult for artist, to go away from his own, inner beliefs, to make all words open for all people across genres. I am also writing lyrics and i can tell you: it is harder, than writing stuff you already known. My favorite band, Norma Jean has one song, Deathbed Atheist. It is about inner battle of main vocalist - he is Christian, but he is going against his own beliefs, cause he is conflicted with it. But those lyrics on that song, are much more abstract and less linear/specific, which is the beauty of it. I prefer those lyrics much more, than something really specific ;-) and LP does not have so much diversity with song writing and production, like i said before.
Those 20 years are the luckiest years in this earth
All of us are lucky to hear Chester's voice again
Even with the new era and Emily killing it, sometimes you just have to come back to Chester. His voice in this is haunting, and this particular song hits on a personal. I lost my best friend to cancer about a year before this song came out, and to this day it reminds me of her cause we had a shared love of LP. I know she'd love the new era of LP as well. One of my favorite songs

Linkin Park released this track 13 days before my mother passed. When I heard this song, I weep uncontrollably. I felt like Chester was singing to me from beyond the grave about my mother and letting me know it was her time. Kinda like a sign, but I didn't want it to be true. I will always miss Chester, and I feel like this and 'My December' perfectly encapsulate that. This song helped me alot through my worst heartbreak ever, we were both military and transferring in a few years from each other. I think we loved each other, I fell harder, she didn't want to get even more attached and would act out more, maybe that was smarter. It took years to for me to heal, she knew she had to go all along and it's not her fault. And no matter what I think I did wrong, we couldn't stay together. I miss you and love you Alexis, maybe in another lifetime...
