I play this song in my car for my 3 year old daughter on road trips. Puts her right to sleep every time. But 10 years ago this song served a different purpose. A darker one, one that helped me get through that time in my life. A year later I met my future wife and things haven't been the same since. Now I have a family and we listen to LP during all our roads trips and it's not going to stop. Thanks Chester for helping me through my dark times and I wish I could have helped you through yours. I hope you found peace. Update: I recently separated from my wife back in December of 2020. It is June of 2021 now. We've both moved on and I have found someone else that I love very much. My ex wife and I have decided to remain friends and coparent our daughter. This song has yet again helped me through another dark chapter in my life and will continue to. My life has changed and I'm happy for it and so is my ex wife. Sometimes life doesn't work out the way you think it will and everything happens for a reason. I hope this change is for the better. I feel like it is. Stay positive everyone and always keep your happiness priority #1!

One of the best songs on the planet. And no, I'm not exagerrating. Everything from the melody, lyrics to powerful vocals, harmony, instruments. It's such a perfect song with literally no flaws.
I fully agree, it's also my all-time most favorite LP song. This track meant so much to me when it was released. I know it was for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and I was 7 at that time (and continents away from the tragedy), but this song ultimately helped me decide with a moral dilemma I was put on to, as I've noticed all the bullying I went through at that time and didn't know how to react. Should I be the more honest and secretly kind type of person? Or should I be more of a person who knows how to fit themselves with others depending on the situation? Even I didn't believe I was put in that kind of dilemma at that age. But I'm glad this song helped me with it.
As a Katrina survivor, this song still makes me cry. I guess they played it at a fundraiser event for Hurricane Katrina. I didn't hear it till MTM, and it broke me. Its hauntingly beautiful to me, idk how else to explain it. And to this day, it's still my favorite LP song. 💚💚💚
I was 15 when Katrina happened. My family and I decided to not celebrate Christmas that year and go volunteer in NO instead . We were rejected by every single organization we called since my brother and I were underage. We still didn’t celebrate Christmas that year and decided to just take the money we were going to spend and donate it since it’s all we could do. To this day when we talk about that year my mom still gets teary eyed because she feels guilty for not helping more. I’m not saying all this to look good but just wanted you to know there were people out there trying to help in whatever way they could……. The way our country handled that situation as a whole was pathetic though
wow its like 2 am here and I'm laying in my bed here in darkness while listening to this- and now I read this comment- couldn't agree more- I love this song
Oh they tried to help him but most people can only fight off depression for so long. That's the true darkness of it. No matter how happy and fulfilled they seem, it never goes away
Honzi1k not many people can handle the things that happened to them in the past all we need to do is to focus on the present and future and let go of the past and focus on the people and family we have and love them forever like we love Chester and never let go
Hey Chester, it's January of 2024 and were still here. I've been giving the Minutes to Midnight album another listen recently. I wish I still had my tour shirt from 2007, but I guess it wouldn't fit now anyways lol. Anyways, this album kept me going in my 8th grade year. I was quite the troubled kid. Bullied in school, home life issues, etc. I had a little 512Mb MP3 player that couldn't fit much more than a album on it. This was the album I kept on there. I listened to this album every day, front to back. I remember drawing the LP symbol on everything back then lol. Anyways I'm 30 now, and life is better, mostly. Thank you, and the rest of the band for making music that both spoke to me as a young edgy teen, and as an adult
This is by far, their most underrated song of all time. People know Linkin Park from Numb, In The End, or Crawling, but they never have even listened to this masterpiece.
I'm drunk and it's 8 am Finland time as I'm typing this, but I haven't listened to Linkin Park for many years. I came here starting from In Between and how much the song reflects my thoughts to my current situtation with my family. The more and more I listen to this album I realise how genuine this band is with it's lyrics. So honest to the point I'm teary in my eyes and I remember that I, too am a human just like each and every one of you. I love you all!
Linkin Park seriously was on another level of sonic ability.... the slightest little detail with a great pair of headphones is crazy. especially at 3:10 how that distortion sound matches chester's pitch and then literally travels slowly around your brain... gave me chills and euphoria focusing on it
When I heard what happen to Chester Bennington. Remember many years ago, I joined a Linkin Park live show, and the entire stadium sang out loud this song. Sometimes all you need was be able to hear it once again. Farewell Chester.
Despite everything, Chester's voice is comforting to me. It feels like a hug, a whisper telling me everything will be OK. When I hear his voice, I don't cry- I smile. That's what he would have wanted. Chester will never record another song, but we still have these songs he sang, and he will live on through his music.
Anyone who is fan of M U S I C in general knows that this is damn near perfect. Even if you’re not an LP fan... the melodies, harmonies, instrumentation, vocal layering etc. it’s legit perfection. A song that still gives me chills to this day.
In an interveiw Chester states how he thinks the guitar solo is one of the most beautiful pieces they has recorded. Listening to it again made me realize how right he was.
So is A Thousand Suns. Don't get me wrong, this album is also great; it's my 2nd favorite LP album behind A Thousand Suns and in front of Living Things.
Just give another try to A Thousand Suns. It's the most innovative album. It's the Album not just a compilation of tracks. To realize it's epicness you have to hear it from the beginning without skipping any tracks, without any pauses till the end. It's a concept album about Nuclear war & apocalypse. It contains ambient speeches & snippets to strengthen that feeling( even though title 'A Thousand Suns' give shivers). Each track is unique, ending of most tracks is the beginning to next ones, with each track a kind of event is narrated. Whole album flows like this, it's a Prog album. The album is like a SINGLE MEGA TRACK of 48 minutes. Also Living Things has best production, there's not even a single bad track on Living Things. Roads Unraveled, I'll be gone, IN my remains, Powerless etc are the best rest are good. Hunting Party is the only weak album with 2-3 good tracks rest all are repetitive, forced I would give first five albums 5/5 and hunting party 2.5/5.

It's been my favorite since I first heard it. When I was little my mother played this CD in the car alot, so I know I fell asleep to this on more than one occasion.
I never even noticed that this song is exactly split into two halves, with one containing the intro, verses and choruses, while the second contains the breakdown, the guitar solo and the bridge/outro. I don't even have to say this song is an absolute masterpiece and possibly the best Linkin Park song of them all.
LP's tribute to the people lost in Hurricane Katrina. To understand this song, it's necessary to understand the devastation caused by that hurricane, and the levees that broke and flooded the poorer neighborhoods. That it's an allegory for a personal story is to better understand its meaning. This is a masterful arrangement.
Words cannot describe how big of an impact the loss of Chester has had on me to the point that don't know why I'm typing this but he was such an incredibly talented singer and artist and he inspired myself and, i know many others and i feel so deeply lost in this abyss of artists merely dropping off the planet and it's such a shame to see them go without fully realise what a difference and inspiration they have been to ALL their fans. Chester, you were a truly incredible singer who, even God himself could not definitively say your voice had any boundaries. Your music will always live on, in my headphones especially. To Mike and all the band, I'm unbelievably sorry for your loss and i hope to see you guys live at some point in life, my only regret is that the band will not be whole. With love and absolute admiration, An Irish fan
Roshan Naylor losing Chester to me was like losing a family member you know ? He was such a big inspiration to me and his music just helped me through the dark times,he was a legend Rip Chester
I miss him everyday, he was the voice for everyone. I miss you Chester, even though I never had a chance to meet you, I just wish I could take your place, you didn’t deserve to die, but I truly understand why you did it, and I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same. Love you brother. Thank you for everything, I hope I get the chance to meet you in another life it exists.
Linkin Park was and still is such a big part of my life. Losing Chester was like losing a family member. I still get so sad thinking about it. This band has gotten me through so stuff in my life and they are all I listen too. I’m forever grateful of the music the group has and will continue to put out. I will show both of my kids this art and hopefully it gets passed down to my grandkids and so on and so on.
I have this album and all of their music, and I sadly overlooked this album. So I ending up playing it the last few days and love this song. I guess that people were expecting just the rap rock not a gem like this.
I will say, I'm in the same place now. MtM was the first LP album I bought but somehow I completely overlooked this song. I honestly don't remember it from my teenage years. I guess I was more into Given Up and Bleed it Out back then to even notice a masterpiece like this. Then I kinda fell away from their music for personal reasons right before LT was released but came back a couple months ago and started listening to their new stuff and it's reminded me how much I love them. So I've been thinking about going to a concert and decided to listen to each of their albums start to finish and I got to this song and I'm shocked I didn't pay attention to it. I looked up the lyrics and meaning and cried my way through it. And there have been a lot of songs like this that I've completely fallen in love with the first time I actually listened to them. No Roads Left is another one that I think is amazing. I've missed so much lol
Nobody will read this but anyways.. Everytime I feel bad or something dumb happens I just lay in the dark and listen to this album. This song, is the perfect ending for the session. This is one of the hidden gems of LP, all the people just know LP from Numb, Crawling etc. and don't know this soft but emotional songs. I can't describe that feeling, but everytime I am hearing this I feel better, as would a load fall from me. This is probably my favorite song of all time and saved me many times from fucking kill myself. Thank you for reading.
Absolutely. 3:52 to the end is perfect. But I just wish Chester didn't feel entitled to write a song about Hurricane Katrina when that wasn't his struggle to appropriate. Still a great musical work though in general
this'll be the lifelong song I'll listen tbh, I'll never forget my hero because of this song. It gave me a huge moral dilemma back when this was released so you can say that this song decided how my personality goes right now.
"All you've ever wanted was someone to truly look up to you. And six feet, underwater, I do" I miss you Chester. I promise you I'll tell my children and everyone of the band's music, and the impact it had on my life. Rock on in peace, my friend.
"It is an underrated song..." So what?! It gives me goosebumps every time and I looove it! Who cares if other peoples don't know it?! We love it. Mike, Chester, Joe, Rob, Brad and Dave did this to their fans. LP forever!
ATS has the best lyrics, but MTM is second! But I love ATS so much, not just bc of the awesome sound, but bc of the amazing lyrics. Most of them speak for myself.
From MTM, I like the lyrics from Hands Held High, LOATR, SOTD, TLTGYA, WID... From ATS, I like the lyrics from WFTE, Iridescent, BITS, Robot Boy, WTCFM, The Messenger...
When my step mother was my tormentor and her children were worse, this album worked wonders on helping me come to grips with my feelings. It wasn't my fault they hated my existence. Chester had a song for every emotion and question all those years ago and he's still answering them today. The world lost a great artist in Chester. Rest in Peace, brother. Thank you for being my voice when I didn't have one.

Today has been impossibly hard. I went to a funeral yesterday and my brother is having problems eating and it's getting bad. Plus, my own anxieties keep spilling over the surface and I can't get a grip on myself. It's just been really hard the past couple of days. I have tried everything to help. Things just seem to get worse. I still have hope and I really hope all of this will pass over one day. LP gives me just a little bit of hope. I would be dead without them. I don't even know why I'm writing this in a YT comment section I guess I just felt like saying it. But to anyone else who feels like this you aren't alone and I'm here for you.
Phenomenal doesn’t even begin to describe it. I can’t even find a word to describe it. It’s just beyond words, I could listen to it on repeat and never get sick of it. I miss Chester. 💜💜💜💜💜💜

Shreyas Sarangi Well sellwise ye but the streets was disappointed... LP was a big part of the hip-hop community, metal heads were down with them too... then they switched to being more artistic and started to require a bit more openminded mindset before listening to their songs
Out of ALL the Linkin Park albums I've ever listened to I remember MTM the most. You actually hear then really sing without screaming on some of the tracks. And their song lyrics have such deep meaning.
According to myself, The Little Things Give You Away is the best song ever by Linkin Park, as MTM is their best album. Throught all these years, there have been many and many and many times when I thought and said I would have attended their next live in Italy. Now I know that that day will never come. The first time I heard Chester's voice I was ten or eleven, now I'm 21. His death is being hard to realize and it will surely hurt for a long time already. But what a great honor to have grown up whit him. I'll always be thankful to LP, for have guided me to listen good music and love Art, and to live my life trying to tell something more to the people, as next as far they are to us. I would have so more to write, but I guess this has been enough. Thank You So Much Chester, my dear major brother. Keep on Rocking in the free world, always.

Rest in Peace you great man.
The band helped sooooo many people. Myself included in my darkest moments still to this day. I have good days and very dark ones. Their music is a source of healing for me. Every facet of all their combined talents put me at peace. I only wish we could have been that for Chester. When you get pulled into that black hole and nothing is there to pull you back the light goes out. I want people to reach out. We are here, we are ready to listen.

That guitar solo OMG
It takes you out of this world
One of the best ever.
Surely Brad's best
One of my all time favorite
YES!!!

Well, for me just emptiness and sadness...
That's the feeling
The part that Chester sings "Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh" is like Chester trying to brought me in heaven

Never have I been hit by a celebrity death this much before. I'm sorry that nobody was able to help Chester before it was too late.
Oh they tried to help him but most people can only fight off depression for so long. That's the true darkness of it. No matter how happy and fulfilled they seem, it never goes away
Honzi1k not many people can handle the things that happened to them in the past all we need to do is to focus on the present and future and let go of the past and focus on the people and family we have and love them forever like we love Chester and never let go
I was so sad I couldnt make it to their final tour after he passed.
Same it still hurts
You're not alone, just because we couldn't be there for Chester doesn't mean we cant be there for one another

LP really has been such a saving grace for so many of us since our youth. glad to see you're doing better, stranger
Personally I think Chester's voice sounds the most amazing in this song.
one thing the best at Chester's voices is when he scream loud and highly and then he break to a smooth voices. that was very beautiful and exciting.
:(
😥😥😥
canucky76 Chester's voice sounds great in any songs. He is one of those singers who has the most beautiful voice and can sing any song effortlessly...

This is by far, their most underrated song of all time. People know Linkin Park from Numb, In The End, or Crawling, but they never have even listened to this masterpiece.
The Hybrid Theory EP songs and LP unreleased songs are even more underrated.
It's unbelievable how LP has Always been too underrated.
I do
This would have to be my favourite.
slow song from minutes from midnight and one more light is underrated. I really like them all.
@Logic I have that picture you have for your profile!
@Logic it's just that annoying need to state when a probable coincidence actually happened.
Hey, 2020, argentina. Same, drunk and very sensitive. Cheers my dear.
take care of you, hope you stay healty live a good life.
we love you too , i hope you're okay now !!
Linkin Park seriously was on another level of sonic ability.... the slightest little detail with a great pair of headphones is crazy. especially at 3:10 how that distortion sound matches chester's pitch and then literally travels slowly around your brain... gave me chills and euphoria focusing on it
Duuude... yessss
That's because Mike is such a great producer. He produced most if not all of LP's albums I think.
When I heard what happen to Chester Bennington. Remember many years ago, I joined a Linkin Park live show, and the entire stadium sang out loud this song. Sometimes all you need was be able to hear it once again. Farewell Chester.
This was one of my most favourite song when I was around 8-9. I'm now 18 and crying.. Thank you Chester
2 things
1. Rob is 🐐ed for that drum part
2. Those vocalizations by Chester at the end are so hard to do flawlessly…man had a voice for sure
Despite everything, Chester's voice is comforting to me. It feels like a hug, a whisper telling me everything will be OK.
When I hear his voice, I don't cry- I smile. That's what he would have wanted.
Chester will never record another song, but we still have these songs he sang, and he will live on through his music.
beautiful solo...
yeah! goosebump on my hand

Anyone who is fan of M U S I C in general knows that this is damn near perfect. Even if you’re not an LP fan... the melodies, harmonies, instrumentation, vocal layering etc. it’s legit perfection. A song that still gives me chills to this day.
Chills is right...goose bumps every time.
The drumming is ridiculously technical and delicate. So well done.
Rob at his best.
@@chxzzychxzz7574el mejor momento de Rob fue en The Hunting party, su batería allí era una locura
One of the most underrated LP songs; no screaming at all yet the anger/disdain is still unmistakable in the vocals.
This and In Pieces are the most overlooked LP tunes. The Album doesn‘t end with What I‘ve Done / No more Sorrow.
For the past 3 days, these 2 songs are the only songs I am listening to.
Chester’s soaring ‘oooh’ in the end...chills.
The best part of this song is when you hear it on headphones...you can hear Mike singing in your left ear and Chester in your right...the end is epic
Ayush Ranjan no actually both left and right were Mike's voice. Chester's voice was in between like (oh-oh-oh)
It's actually Mike on the left side, Phoenix on the right and chester doing the (oh oh oh) in the middle.
I forgot this song did that and immediately grabbed my headphones... my ears are so happy.
Both are mike.. Phoenix sings only in lives
Coincidentally, I was listening to that exact part the moment I got to reading your comment.
In an interveiw Chester states how he thinks the guitar solo is one of the most beautiful pieces they has recorded. Listening to it again made me realize how right he was.

True
Couldn't have said it better.
Now he's at the top of the stairway to heaven

Linkin parks hurricane katrina song
this entire album is amazing, especially the lyrics to most of the songs. I think its extremely underrated
Hunting Party is the only weak album with 2-3 good tracks rest all are repetitive, forced
I would give first five albums 5/5 and hunting party 2.5/5.
Got to entirely agree with you, Hunting Party was the first album that at all dissappointed me. Everything until then was flawless.
areteees i like hunting party :D
Verca Hokrova I as well enjoyed it, although it wasn't as great as the others.
If theres one thing Mike and Chester truly mastered through their time together, it was making their voices work in perfect harmony with eachother.
the guitar solo is so beautiful omg. The last 3 minutes of this song are absolutely classic
Water grey
Through the windows, up the stairs
Chilling rain
Like an ocean everywhere
[Chorus]
Don't want to reach for me do you
I mean nothing to you
The little things give you away
And now there will be no mistaking
The levees are breaking
All you've ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet under water
I
Do
[End Chorus]
Hope decays
Generations disappear
Washed away
As a nation simply stares
[Chorus]
Don't want to reach for me do you
I mean nothing to you
The little things give you away
But now there will be no mistaking
The levees are breaking
All you've ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet under water
I
Do
All you've ever wanted
Was someone to truly look up to you
And six feet under ground now
I
Now I do

God comment. Meaning is everything

I cried for days after learning of Chester's death. Linkin Park's music will always be a part of my soul.
I have this album and all of their music, and I sadly overlooked this album. So I ending up playing it the last few days and love this song. I guess that people were expecting just the rap rock not a gem like this.
you mean nu metal that's what "rap rock" is
I think Nu Metal and Rap Rock are two different genres actually.

Absolutely. 3:52 to the end is perfect. But I just wish Chester didn't feel entitled to write a song about Hurricane Katrina when that wasn't his struggle to appropriate. Still a great musical work though in general
What's appropriation got to do with this song? Is not a tribute to those who were impacted by that disaster?
this'll be the lifelong song I'll listen tbh, I'll never forget my hero because of this song. It gave me a huge moral dilemma back when this was released so you can say that this song decided how my personality goes right now.

Back in 2007 when MTM dropped we were expecting a Hybrid Theory Part 3.... and we got a fuckin masterpiece of an rock album, which sadly was slept on. Out of ALL the Linkin Park albums I've ever listened to I remember MTM the most. You actually hear then really sing without screaming on some of the tracks. And their song lyrics have such deep meaning.
especially this song.
Nothing is wrong with screaming
I know everybody says this on every song of theirs, but this has to be the most underrated song in history
This song is just purely fucking BEAUTIFUL.
RIP Chester. Masterpieces like this will be on repeat during these days
The melody, the lyrics, the rythm, Chester's contribution, Rob's solo, Brad's contribution...well, LEGENDARY SONG.
The 21st century needed this song.
