      @P T thanks for the link! Glad you got to upgrade your setup. Adding more speakers is always a great upgrade 😀 I love my 7.2.4 setup. I would really like to be able to add wides some day if I get another receiver that supports 13 or 15 channels.

    I have a Denon IMAX Enhanced AV, but the TV isn't. Does that mean I'll only get IMAX Enhanced audio processing to my Klipsch 7.2.1 system and not picture?? I'm slightly confused. My TV has Dolby Vision and HDR10+, but I don't know how they compare to IMAX picture processing.

      @@hatoraidcowboyThere is very minimal adjustment to be made because of all the equipment is using the same software from IMAX.
      Most people can at least enjoy IMAX enhanced picture as long as they have a 4k uhd HDR TV. With audio it can be very tricky as you have to have the AVR or processor with the IMAX enhanced. I find that the IMAX enhanced from Disney+ has great picture quality but the audio is not the same as having the physical version, but it is light years ahead of standard streaming audio!
      No need to be jelly 😁
      It took many years of upgrading to get to where I am now. The best advice is invest in the right AVR or processor that can handle all the new features like IMAX, DTSx and Dolby Atmos, then get a separate amp. The separate amp will add so much more depth and separation of the audio channels that most people will be blown away! 🤘😎

    • @hatoraidcowboy
      @hatoraidcowboy  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the info! I agree with you on separates, I’ll always use separates in my home theater…Love my Emotiva amps.
      The previous generation of Anthem products were originally announced to be getting updated for Imax Enhanced..I have the MRX 720, but alas they reneged and released Imax Enhanced on all the new models.
      And I’m wondering how Imax enhanced DTS:X will sound over streaming….I’m sure it will still be compressed though but Disney needs to step it up on their object based audio mixes.

    Nust bought a Hisense 65" U8K. It has Imax Enhanced mode, but it won't switch to it (I have to manually do it even though I adjusted settings for auto) , I am able to use Imax mode on any content, and I am also able to activate picture enhancements that Imax mode should disable. It just acts like an additional preset. Any Thoughts why it doesn't work they way you described?

    • @hatoraidcowboy

      It could just be buggy firmware that Hisense needs to address with an update. Especially if its a newly released model, there’s usually bugs in the firmware

    @Hatoraid Cowboy Cinema I'm not sure if I understand one thing: What if I have Imax Enhanced content on Blu-Ray disc and a TV with "Imax Enhaced", but I DO NOT have a Blu-Ray Receiver with "Imax Enhanced"? Will I benefit from the Imax Enhanced content in this situation? I didn't see any Blu-Ray receivers with "Imax Enhanced", so it is strange for me.

    • @hatoraidcowboy

      Currently the only Imax enhanced content available is on streaming. So as long as your receiver and display and streaming device support IMAX enhanced you’re good.

      @@hatoraidcowboy Do you mean blu-ray receiver? Do you know any that has the "Imax Enhanced"? In streaming it is not required so then it is ok, but I saw blu-ray movies with "Imax Enhanced", so I don't know what is the point of having them if there is no option to watch Imax Enhanced content.

    Somewhat off topic...
    I'm curious what costs are involved to allow manufactures to carry a Dolby, THX, or IMAX badge on AV equipment? Not just the testing certification, but the licensing fee.
    On a related note, I wonder with these 'standards', if monthly fees are ever going to be required. Similar to a subscription for your internet security cam or paid software 'upgrades' to support additional features. A reoccurring income stream is what really make some companies profitable and investors love it . Didn't pay your IMAX, Dolby, and THX subscriptions this month? Sorry, no enhanced content for you!

    • @hatoraidcowboy
      @hatoraidcowboy  2 года назад +1

      So I believe companies must pay $2-3 per TV for a Dolby Vision branded TV. I’d imagine its around the same for other home theater devices as well. Not sure for royalties on other codecs and standards.
      That’s a very interesting thought on monthly fees 🤔 Hopefully that never happens. But I’d imagine that could get very tedious…..How do you sign in? Do you sign in once per device or per streaming service? That would REALLY anger a lot of customers. So I dont think it will happen but its def a possibility that I’m sure companies have considered before….But that’s probably where the licensing comes in which would negate the subscription. But again anything is possible with record inflation and companies like Netflix losing millions. Great question!!

      @@hatoraidcowboy DIVA might let IMAX ENHANCED audio pass since it doesn’t process it. When accessing Disney+ on Firestick 4K max! Disney displays ,with DIVA’S CUSTOM EDID 10, Dolby Vision, IMAX ENHANCED, DOLBY ATMOS….So it’s sending the stream to the DIVA, My pre/pro AVM 70 is IMAX ENHANCED ABLE. How can I check if it doe’s?

    • @hatoraidcowboy
      @hatoraidcowboy  2 года назад

      So you can still pass through Imax Enhanced content, I’ve watched Disney+ Imax Enhanced Movies on my Apple TV. And you can still benefit by getting the expanded aspect ratio and DTS:X.
      But “you’ll miss out on the true IMAX Signature Sound and any optimizations that IMAX Mode makes on the certified devices.”
      A way you can check is I believe you should see something saying Imax Enhanced on your receiver screen. And if that’s the case you should be able to access Imax Enhanced menu settings that are normally hidden until Imax Enhanced content is sent to your receiver. I believe everything in your chain of gear needs to support Imax Enhanced as well including your TV. But again you’ll still get a better image just without the optimizations if it’s not supported
