    My current doctor recommended the dash diet, and printed me off sheets on how to follow it. Sadly, that clinic is closing all facilities in my part of the state. Now I have to go back to a clinic that never notified me of my continually lower kidney function ! They make millions off dialysis !

      So glad I'm following Dr. Mcdougall's advice on salt. I have manic depression & chronic fatigue & salt helps that. Whenever I go on a no-salt diet I get very exhausted, super depressed & lethargic. I also get dizzy on a no salt diet. I think this is why so many elderly people are falling on no salt diets for their high blood pressure.

    I am so thankful I found this discussion with these two amazing doctors! I got so happy just listening to them talk! They both inspire me. I got up and made some corn tortillas from masa. My first time and they were great! I ate a few with some Saracha sauce on them. I haven’t eaten corn in years and most certainly haven’t used any kind of flour in over ten years. I am eating a starch based diet and learning everyday! I started consuming 0 sat fat and keep the plant based fat very low. I stopped with all the added oils and don’t miss it at all!I hope to start feeling better soon. I started following Dr McDougall about a month ago. I watch every interview he’s done that I can find! Great job AJ!

    Dear AJ, you've done a brilliant series on Kempner with former patients, former colleagues, etc... It would be fantastic to see you do the same for the original Pritikin program. You have people like Nick Delgado and Jeff Novick who worked with him, and his biggest colleague R. James Barnard whose published tons of results is still alive (I think). Something like Dr. McDougall interviewing Barnard (I think Barnard has very few interviews on youtube...) would be incredible, just a thought. I'd say a similar Burkitt/Swank would be too hard to figure out! Thanks again.

    I am trying this, but don’t understand how it will be healthy when eating oatmeal raises my glucose 100 points (oats, unsweetened almond milk, salt, artificial sweetener) and white rice goes up over 125 points. Should I worry about these numbers?

    • @candlelady239
      @candlelady239 4 месяца назад

      No artificial sweeteners.

    • @janetbrowning6602
      @janetbrowning6602 4 месяца назад

      You should just get organic, non GMO, oats with nothing added and cook them in water only. Most artificial sweeteners do raise your blood sugar JUST LIKE SUGAR, so don't eat that. Also salt raises your blood pressure and makes food more palatable so you eat more, so eliminate that. Thirdly, almond milk is full of fat and likely salt and possibly preservatives stabilizers emulsifiers and other crap, so eliminate that. SEE THE DIFFERENCE? If the oats are not organic and do not say they are non-GMO they will probably have been sprayed with pesticides which are endocryn disruptiers. Do not eat that garbagefood, like Quaker Oats! Not all oats are healthy.

      If someone is healthy then yes. But if someone is in critical health condition, then only white rice because it is digested easily and is low in fiber, low in anti-nutrients which would impair the healing process. A person who is in critical condition needs the most easy to digest food with nearly NO fiber. This is why Kepner’s rice diet worked. White rice, white sugar, and fruit juice is nearly fiber-free, and anti-nutrient-free.

      There is a book called eat right for your type. By Dr. James D'Adamo. Right diet depends on your blood group. If you're type O you do well on meat & fish, but not dairy. I just discovered it. Good luck 👍

    UPDATE: read the responses to my post. I learned I was eating cheese and using oils. They say, NO OIL for AJ's lifestyle to work for you ...
    My doctor told me to stay away from rice, pasta, and potatoes after I followed AJ's diet to keep blood pressure low. My cholesterol and blood sugar levels spiked.

      Doesn't eating fat cause cholesterol not pasta and potatoes or rice.

      @@EmpoweringCoach it's the blood sugar levels that potatoes, rice, and pasta raised. I learned more after my post. I was still eating cheese, that's what hurt my cholesterol number.

      didn't they come down and what did you eat with them. pasta should be a whole grain. Hope you get good results and you can't have oil or fats with them. :) @@tallchicknvegas

    "Vegan diets are low sodium; they may not particularly be high potassium"??? 🤔🤭

      If you eat a lot of plants you get high potassium. If you eat mostly meat, you may have low potassium. Most Americans have deficient potassium since they eat the SAD diet.

    Is being low sodium truly necessary for people that don’t have a blood pressure or hypertension issue? I think the rice diet would be a lot more achievable with some low fat broth or condiments
