INGREDIENTS:
500 g beef mince
2 garlic cloves
1 large onion
900 g spaghetti sauce
1 beef stock cube
Pinch of dried oregano
400 g ziti, macaroni or tortellini
200 g grated mozzarella
150 g grated Parmesan
STEP 1: MAKE THE SAUCE
Heat a little oil in a pan, then add the mince with a good pinch of pepper and fry until brown. Next add the onion and garlic and cook for a couple of minutes. Add the tomato sauce, 125 ml water, crumble in the stock cube and add the oregano.
STEP 2: COOK THE PASTA
While the sauce is simmering away, add your pasta to a pan of boiling salted water and cook for 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE ZITI
Lightly grease a baking dish, then add 1/4 of the beef mixture followed by half of the pasta and give it a mix, then align the pasta so all the tubes are facing in the same direction. Next add half the Parmesan and mozzarella. Cover with the remaining pasta and sauce and bake covered in tin foil for 20 minutes.
STEP 4: BAKE WITH THE FOIL OFF
Remove the foil and add the remaining cheese and a good grind of pepper. Return it to the oven un-covered for another 10 minutes.

:D
This looks identical to Greek "pastitsio" it is my favourite dish of all time and the only main difference is that pastitsio has béchamel sauce as well as cheese on top! Mm mm
wow lining up the pasta interesting. Might give that a go eh.
That look delicious and how long did that take you
i've seen something like this but they stood the rigs vertically and the sauce slid into and around each... either way, looks great!
Wow that sounds like a great idea! We'll def have to give that a go!
I'm magic, I can make all of that disappear in 2 secs
Barry jar sauce, never seen that before. yikes!
The onions were minced, the beef was "ground." And what kind of flavor is "cheeky?"
You also pronounced "oregano" incorrectly.
thanks John i'll make sure to change that next time ;-)
Thats how I say Oregano, how is it meant to be said?
Oh-REH-gah-no.
John Karavitis We think it's an English/ American thing ;) Both right just different ways of pronouncing them. Same for herbs and basil too! However it said it all tastes good to us =)
"Al donte"? Lol n00b. P.s. That ain't ziti.
