Young lady, you are a great teacher. You taught us the basic differences between the present perfect and the past so clearly. Now that I could go back to my grammar book, and those rules made me much easier to comprehend. The biggest challenge is when I speech in English, when to use the right tenses. I have been struggling all these years in the English speaking world. Keep up your good work. Many Thanks.
She doesn't seem to use a teleprompter. That's a lot of memorising. That's hard work indeed. What I always miss is a better sound. It's not that it's bad but it could be better. I'm an audio person so I can be picky. Just as a curiosity, she has a video where she or her team forgot to turn on the mic and someone decided to use the audio f4om the camera. Horrible! But it's something that happens a lot. Still, the decision of not recording the video again was... reckless, in my opinion. I bet she had a reason for it. She's great!
Arnel explains the topic that completely focuses on where students make mistakes and goes beyond the grammar covering everything comprehensively...this is which is not at all taught in schools all they do is rote learning ....Arnel is the G.O.A.T
Iam an indian and i keep learning English from RUclips but i love your way of teaching you have taught me so well that i think no indian teacher couldn't teach
I have been learning English for over 5 years, and I have only just learned these grammar rules. It's because your learning style is amazing, making it more clear and easy to understand.
Such a great lesson. I had been confused for more than 20 years by these usages and now finally things start to make sense to me. Thank you so much Arnel for helping me improve my English bit by bit!
I am so glad that I ran into your Chanel I’v been searching for a teacher who knows how to teach because not everyone is capable of teaching thanks a lot to you
Arnel, I'm from Brazil. Day in, day out, I watch these videos that teach me to improve my English. I love you, teacher Arnel! Thanks for your work that help us learn more and more. I appreciate your work and your teachings. Hugs from Brazil!
I watched this video last year ,and came back again this year. From all the videos that are in RUclips I decided to watch your videos because they are literally the best . Wish you all the best and thanks for the effort you put into this amazing explanation
What subtle differences exist between these two verbal tenses!, but you managed to explain them crystal clear. Thank you once again for sharing this video.
Don't feel embarrassed! It's very confusing to non-native speakers, especially since colloquial American English that's used in lots of films uses it differently in some contexts. (And it's great that she points this out at the end of her video!) So keep coming back to this. That doesn't have to be embarrassing...you're smart to review this! Even other English teachers are referring their students to this video!
I have just finished watching your video or I just finished watching your video. You are an incredible English teacher. Thanks for explaining us the differences between these two tenses. Weldone! You rock! Way to go! Do not stop!
I have seen a lot of RUclips videos on the subject matter. You used a very nice techniques to visualise and understand simple past and present perfect.
This channel is a real discovery for me! I'm in the middle of preparing to CAE test and there's so much confusion with tenses. Your videos are very helpful! Keep up the great and creative work! Thanks!

You have explained exactly what I've been having trouble understanding for months now. Thank you very much, thanks to this lecture, I have a better understanding of the usage of these 2 tenses. ❤️❤️❤️
Exactly! I agree 100%! Lots of English learners learn British English, then they watch tons of American series and movies, and then they get confused with the usage...no wonder! I am also very glad she mentioned that!
I've been teaching English as a second language for 10 years and I have never seen a better explantion about these two tenses. I always use your video when we study the present perfect and the simple past. I think learning them at the same time is quite enlightening. Thank you!
This is an obsoletely great explanation! I have watched loads of youtube videos to understand this difference. Now, you have closed this question. Thank you a lot!
you aren't even cognizant of the impact you've created from your lessons in my life. lots of love arnel. I'm getting ahead day by day just coz of you...❣️❣️
I have been watching your videos again and again and everytime I watch it, I always notice new things. I have discovered that the more you watch one video over and over, you'll notice new information. You have already done an amazing job. You rock!

I really appreciate your work. I'd like to hear your explanation, especially on the time axis. No one is explaining English grammar in such an easy way on youtube except you. a lot of love from me.❤
Great video, it is a difficult topic to understand at the begenning, but then, after a great time of contact to English, you'll getting it easierly. This has been one of the best videos I've already seen about this subject
I can not but admire you. Any word would be less to praise your teaching skill. You are really something exceptional Ma'am . Your lessons are as clear as crystal that gives nothing but precise perception. From India🇮🇳🇮🇳🙏🙏.
I was so confused about these tenses, I didn’t know when I have to use the past simple or the present perfect. You’re really the best teacher in this world. Thank you so much 😊 today I’ve learned very very import things. Love this channel ☺️
Guess what You can use present perfect with these time expressions such as In the last month. For example: She has eaten that chicken in the last week. She ate that chicken last week. Sometimes the grammar is weird but is the rule.
This video is a treasure it made my day Now I can finally love the present perfect simple waiting for the continuous one and their pasts Btw loved how you showed the connection with the present it just made me truly get this difficult tense and makes it so easy
Arnel, thank you a lot! You help me greatly! My Russian students like your kind of explanation and use your videos for improving their skills. They are empressed and they admire you, too.😍
Ty so much for that. I asked for it long ago, even though the video about the present perfect already existed. As a general rule of thumb, simple past is used for past things/events which are specific and exclusively belonging to the past, while present perfect is for things/event when time precision isn't really needed or such thing/event still may happen until now/affects the present. I'm a native Portuguese speaker (from Brazil) and my language almost only uses "perfect and imperfect past", whose major differences are about such things/events being able or not to be done again....while the connection to the present is expressed by using the past continuous tense or like the informal English (using the simple past because it's a specific and finished action in the past despite influencing the present).
Another wonderful lesson as always, Arnel! Out of curiosity, how do you edit these videos? Is there a specific software that you prefer? I love the infographics!
