In this video we show you how to use your TV as a computer screen.
You may need an adapter to get this to work with your HDMI compatible TV if your computer ONLY has a VGA input. Here are some links to some adapters.(these are affiliate links)
HDMI to VGA adapter: amzn.to/2BReCML
VGA to HDMI adapter: amzn.to/2GITRCa

What kind of HDMI cord do I need and how long do the cords come in?
I thought it was common sense that you could use a tv for pc, and also use a monitor for a console.
Thanks for keeping it simple. I tried for hours to connect my PC to my TV to use my TV as my monitor hours watched your video for two minutes and was able to do it thank you for keeping it simple for people like me
Thank you, Zack! Very helpful. I have a HDMI1 (Arc) port on my t.v. and didn't know how to do it (where the HDMI port was on my old PC - your instructions were concise and easy to understand. Much thanks.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been trying for a few days to use my TV as a second screen as was my set up when I was at work but I couldn't remember how to do it. I forgot about the "extend these display" setting. Now I can watch TV and work at the same time. Cheers
You're welcome!!
Thank you so much, I was ready to throw in the towel because so many of the youtube videos do not cap on this particular point, so thank you for making my life easier!
You are awesome! This has completely changed my home office for the better. A million thank you for this tutorial!
Your video was very helpful. I found the HDMI cable on my other TV because I have a ROKU ! Now I am working at home and I can go back and forth between watching TV and working when I want. Thank you so much!
OMG THANK YOU. I am so tech challenged, and yours is the first video that I understand. Now I am going to try to do this for my Mom's TV/laptop. Wish me luck! And thanks again for user friendly explanation/video.

You have the technological knowledge and most importantly, great communication skills. Your video was easy to understand and follow the steps. Thanks!
Thanks! the vga converter i bought had no instructions. your info with the screen resolution bit did the trick.
So thankful for your video! Step by step, with awesome explanation- thanks!
Great video ZAK, you explained it well talking about VGA & HDMI.
I will probably have to go over the resolution part of the video a
few times but yeh a great video. Thank You.

Excellent video! Thank you for sharing! It was helpful, clear and concise.
Many thanks. Very well presented and explained. You saved me a trip to the Geek squad!
thank you for this helpful video. i will be sure to share this with my friends!
Great, clear, visual instructions...thank-you.
Hey Zach, my brother in law is your doppleganger, no joke. I was watching another video and your video was on my feed and I had to click! I thought he'd started a RUclips Channel!
thank you. Nice presentation.
The sound on my laptop is sometimes good; most times way too low. The laptop has been like that since new. On my previous laptop, the sound was always great. Is that an indication that there is a problem with the computer given that it works sometimes?
To avoid that, I have been using my SMART TV to provide sound. Now, the picture shows, but no sound.
The laptop has only one HDMI port. I'm concerned that so much plugging and unplugging is a problem. Is there a way to prevent issues with that?
Other than buying a new cable, is it possible to determine if a pin is broken, if so how? I hate to buy a new cable if not needed.
Thanks again.
You rock. Exactly the info I was looking for. Too much love.
I have been trying to connect my TV to my computer all day with a HDMI cable but only got my computer desktop picture on my TV and the sound from RUclips but no videos Showing. I watched your video step by step yesterday and did everything you did but unfortunately I still got nothing apart from the computer desktop still on the telly. 😢 if you did anything else to get it on your television that you didn’t show in the video please let me know.
Thank you really difficult to find this specific video.
Thank you for keeping it simple. I worked for hours trying to get my monitor to m
So glad i stumbled across this video, always wondered how people did that.

Thanks man, needed to set up my tv for a new job tomorrow. I think I could get used to this work from home stuff lol.
That last minute or so! Damn!!! An hour spent cursing and fricking with settings...simple drop and drag. So dedicating my next book to you!❤️❤️❤️
Lol, thank you glad you were able to get it figured out!
this really helped
nice video! you have earned a sub!
Thank you. Very informative 👍
Thanks a million for this advice......I am just about to do this and just wondering what can be the max length of HDMI cable ???
Thanks for posting ...
Could you do a video on setting up 3 monitors and how to sync them all into one screen?
Thanks man this helped a lot
No problem!
Great information, thanks for sharing.
Loved the video! I am in the process of replacing my 27" monitor with hopefully >>>> A 38" to 40" 4K UHD TV. You gave me some great in-sights on doing this, plus an additional unexpected in-sight.
The other day, I purchased a couple of beautiful shimmering black negligee's, was them and hung them out to dry. A few hours later, I go outside and find that they are missing. I thought to myself, that someone else clearly had more need for my new sexy negligee's and just let it go. I think next time, i'll set up a thief camera!
So here I am presently watching your video and BAMMM!, I see my new sexy see through, black negligee's draped over your windows as privacy shades. I'm totally shocked.....But likely not as shocked as you will be when I tell your wife! LOL
Smile and have a great day.........
Would buying a 65” qled 4k work? Will it let me basically custom-stretch any screen size I want, up to 65”?
If you mentioned it and I didn't catch it then forgive me, but if I have a desktop that only has the vga connection how do i connect it to a new tv that does not have an rgb input?? I am looking into a new vizio but it doesnt have the vga(rgb) port on it.. is it just a simple vga to hdmi converter solution? thx~
Thanks so much for this my dad didn't let me do this idea because it had high resolution but you convinced to so thanks so much
+Diamond Unicorn Gaming no problem.
This was great. Good voice, understood each and every step. Thank you for the video.

Great video! Thanks for sharing.
good visual help. Much better than the first I watched.ty
Thx for explaining this I will defiantly dual screen
Very good video here- clear voice with easy to understand instructions. I do
have a question here for you. I have an HP laptop with only a VGA port, and
a Sony Bravia TV with a VGA port ( and 2 hdmi ports) In order to avoid buying
a converter from analogue( VGA ) TO digital ( on hdmi for TV) I think I should
just go VGA on my laptop to VGA on my TV - right ???
If I do this- you said something on this video that confuses me ??? You said
VGA ports will only relay "video" and NOT "audio." I'm sure your right, however
I've seen videos whereby they are going VGA ( laptop) to VGA ( on tv) and "also"
plugging in an "audio cable" from the laptop to the TV. Would this not prevent
someone from having to hook up the laptop to "separate speakers, as you say.
I would think if you hooked up an audio cable from your laptop to your TV -
wouldn't you then have the benefit of sound from your TV speakers. Can you
explain this ??? here, or send me an inmail ( personal) thanks-a great video.
( Canada)
Very helpful thanks! Now when I'm able to stream I can keep up with chat!!
Sameee
What if I am using my HDMI already with an antenna then what is another option I may have? Cam you help me? Thank you for sharing.
This helped thanks my tv has both HDMI and VGA
Thanks for this video and clear explanation just improved my night.
Super concise and clear. Can't wait to try it. Thanks
Tried it and it worked a treat. I can now use my video software on a big screen, which makes it much easier to edit. Thanks
I wish I saw this first bro! Good work and thanks!
thanks for the support
Very educational video. Thank you.
Thank you very clear explanation!
Thank you for making this easily understandable.
No problem, glad it was easy to follow!
PC Simplest do i need to get a keyboard for the tv?
Marcos Anglade you will need to use a keyboard to control the computer that is hooked up to your TV. You can get a really nice keyboard mouse combo m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=9SIA4TZ2KJ0798 that's the one that I currently use for my computer/TV setup. Let me know if you have any more questions. Happy to help.
I hope you still have your page running ? I didn't realize this was an old video but the information I received was dead on! I'm using an old 27" box screen TV and using a HDMI mini adapter and ample amount of HDMI cable to connect to my laptop, the display settings I just guest on and I'm using the Laptop speakers for audio because I have roommates and I have to use headphones late at night. Everything is setup just the way you showed it and is working fine!! Thank You for making a honest video that actually works! ( P.S. I really messed up my phone tinkering with it maybe I watched too many vids)
Nice transition to your laptop
Thanks.
OMG thanks for this video i gave it a like because i have been looking for this everywhere
Thanks. Very helpful video
Is graphic card important in pc for connecting to with smart led tv
Hello my TV don't have VGA port and my V. card don't have HDMI port, so I bought VGA to HDMI cable and did everything you said, but the TV just stays on black screen. What should I do (I did the control panel settings, I did set it on the VGA port)
thanks for the vid it was very helpful :)
Great video. Question: My connection on TV says mode not supported, rather than showing what is on my PC. What do I do? I have it in the correct HDMI port(s). It actually was working the other day but now it's not working.
how do i get video best quality streaming from my laptop to my 55 inch tv? seemed like everytime i have it full zoom to my TV, the video streaming blurr into bad quality video. Thanks

+Owen Adams-Mejia No problme. Glad you found it useful.
+I.T. Career Questions yeah big thanks everyone else only shows how to get the pc screen ON the tv😜
Really helped me. Thanks.
hey.. so it's easy when you're trying to connect your LAPTOP... cos you see what you're doing and see how you're trying to connect and mirror your image cos you have a screen on your laptop... but to a desktop.. where you only have the CPU.. how can you know when a signal is got.. and if you got the right connection going on? Every video shows a laptop.. but it ain't the same with a desktop cos it's like you're blind trying to connect everything and trying to mirror to check whet is wrong and what is working?...And.. connecting a desktop PC to a smart TV.. should it get a signal diectly or should I look for a specific channel or connection on my smart TV? Thanks
thank you,i wanted to say the same thing, this title is how to use your tv as a computer monitor, not how to use your tv as a laptop monitor, they both are differant, totally,in the sense of the back where you plug everything in,looks totally differant, and all i wanted to know was how to connect my smart tv,vizio to my now windows 10 computer so i can use it as a computer monitor, right? i just wish everyone could understand the way you and i both do thanks again
Your English is shit

This is like watching the first awesome scene in Steve Jobs movie, Jobs, where he stumbled upon the computer board displayed in a tv monitor, which later known as his brainchild; Macintosh. Cool video as usual bro. Merry Christmas and happy new year.
Thank you! So clear! :)
Janice Jones No problem! Glad you were able to follow this and find it useful. Thank you for subscribing!
😍It worked. Thanks for posting.
Thank you, again! I am learning a lot from you.
what about using an external hard drive as my substitution for an expensive hard drive to play on a specific website for gaming?
Which imput should this be on? I don't have sound. Also trying to hook up a digital antenna as well so unsure which channel for that as well.
What type of HDMI cable, Standard, Standard with Ethernet, High Speed, or High Speed with Ethernet, do you use?
when you right click an empty spot on your desktop, just click "screen resolution" or "display settings" (depending on which version of windows you are running) rather than personalize, then display, then adjust resolution.
You end up in the same destination, but it takes less clicks to get you there.
Great video. I have an asus laptop and hooking to a 32 in tcl. Hdmi and i cant get it to display
Great video! Very cool! Thank you!
Hello i have Windows 10, in display setting I cannot find multiple display option more than display 1

Thank you for this video, I just have one question...If I'm beginning to use an illustrator program, can I put my firefox window on my laptop and use my illustration program on my t.v.? It would make my drawing much easier to see on the bigger t.v. screen. Thanks

our video card is a ADM Radeon HD 7700 Series if that helps.Do I need a spliter for vga to make the screen show up as 2 on the screen Resolution page? The TV we are trying to use is a Dynex 32in with a vga port. The TV that I got for Christmas is a insignia 32in led 720p.It only has a hdmi with no vga. We have a pigtail converter from vga to hdmi. Could I use this in the same way we want to use the older Tv ( dynex)?
Again Thanks, Martin Moldovan
Can you connect tv to the box? I dont have a laptop so can i either VGA or hdmi cable to the tv wothout needing laptop for this process?

The best video I've seen so far - thank you! I have unfortunately one problem, using Win7 the PC won't recognise that there is a second monitor (my TV), so It is cloning, but I can't change the resolution for the TV. I'm using a VGA splitter and cables - no HDMI unfortunately. Please can you help?

I have some issues watching videos in my 2000 Sony Bravia TV from a 2022 Motorola phone And 2010 Samsung tablet. Please do you have an advice because I can not do it until now. I have been using a HDMI cable. Thanks again 👍
Thank you Sir. Will be using this for online teaching.
4 years later. LOL. Thanks Handsome! Just what I needed!!
You’re a good teacher
I found a HDMI cable on Amazon for just over $2 thanks once again.
i too spent around $3 on HDMI cable and should work for years. Then I've spent $10 in a restaurant, got barely 2 hours of satisfaction
thank ou so much, this is wow for me but still cannot connect my laptop to my tv. i plugged in the HDMI cable, i choose HDMI 1 on my tv (as it is plugged in hdmi1) the sound goes off my laptop but the image on my tv monitor does't come. it only says shortly :not supported and then, it says on my tv monitor, no signal. this pandemy keeps us inside and i got netflix for 1 month, but the laptop monitor is too small. you explain things so well! are there any other settings i should follow? thank you so much!!! greetings and blessings from Romania!
