My buddy Leon (aka Rusty) helped me perform the transmission service on our 2008 mercedes / freightliner / dodge Sprinter van.
This is definitely a two person job. Took us about 5 hours total time. This video gives a how to step by step procedure to change the transmission fluid as well as drain the torque converter with simple tools.
Parts List:
Tools List:

Hope this video is helpful and gives some confidence in changing your transmission fluid on your Sprinter van. If we were able to do it you can most certainly get it done yourself. Please leave a comment with any questions and I will try to answer them the best I can. Cheers!
Excellent instructional video! Thank you.
We did in our motorhome but motorhome is shaking now. Do you know what could cause that 🤔
I just did it on my 2012 and I did torque converter 1st and after took out the 4 bolts and raised transmission to change the rest I filled it up with 7.1 l transmission fluid great video thanks
Great video. Used yours do to do mine. I did find I just had to take off the 4 trans bolts on the brace and raise the trans very little to lift the pan out.
Thanks for the inform,
I have a 2007 Dodge sprinter van got leak oil in the engine and the dealer states that the cooling engine leaking you have any suggestions because the dealer was wrong from my transmission in the first place.
Thank you so much
You can use a cheap bolt extractor to remove the drain plug if it is rounded.
I need help! What and how much oil comes in sprinter 315 cdi 2.1 2007??
How you fill back torque convertor
What was that little hanging hose , the one you’ve changed ?
You don't have to take out the cross member actually. After undoing all the bolts you can sort of turn the pan 90 degrees and take it out! That'll save you some time and fiddling around with the jack ;)
Ahhh yea I can see how that could work! Thanks for the tip!
@@JakeandHeather Thanks for your kind reply, i was actually the dumb one forgetting that the plug was round.. I'm retreating myself in shame. Haha, Thanks for the vid though.
what brand ramp are you guys using?
Thanks
No problem!!🤙🏼🤙🏼
I am about to do this (service the transmission) to my 2008 Dodge Sprinter and I was wondering if the torque converter fills when you start the engine or when you put the transmission fluid in through the fill hole?
Appreciated the video!
Torque converters fills itself when engine is running. Make sure to let it idle for a couple of minutes and put it in D and R a couple of times.
is that pan leaking?
Does the 313cdi have transmission fluid .... can't find this pan under my 2010 313 cdi 😅
Hahahah
I just changed my transmission fluid how many quarts does it take
he says 8 quarts 30 seconds roughly into the video.... just watch a little, answer was there :)
the torque converter is a nightmare on my Van, not sure how I going to do it, I saw one guy drain the pan, fill about 4.5 litres , run the engine to move the oil around, then drain from the pan again and fill again, this de snot give you a complete new oil change but at least its newer, I guess she couldn't get t the converter as well,
I'm curious..Would it display a message on your dash when it is low or needing a new transmission fluid?
Not to my knowledge no it will not
@@JakeandHeather ok thank you. I booked a service to the dealership bec. I have a feeling I am low in transmission fluid.
I'm wondering if the service engine soon message and icon indicates low transmission fluid?
You don't need to drop the pan
Duuuu-des ,, the pan bolts are " stretch bolts " . Used only once . Get the right specs for new ones & replace to correct torque values . I know , as I've been there before ! . The Real Dude ( 2014 I-4 2500 MB ) .
Ahhhh thank you dude! This is the type of information that needs to be shared
@@JakeandHeather It's apparent ,, you're in FLA . I too . Just up the I-75 in sunny Ocala ! . I've owned vans all my life . This maybe my last . Look me up on RUclips . " 73 year old lifeguard " .
Correct, on your 2014 they are stretch bolts and should be replaced. For the 2008 model (and from what I understand every model not 2014-2016) the bolts do are not stretch bolts and do not need to be replaced.
This is how not to do it 🤨
This whole channel is a how to on what not to do to a sprinter.
Why don’t you show where the actual input is for the transmission oil……………. What a waste of a video
