Nice review. I would only caveat in the interest of fairness that while on the surface the Chad is twice the price of the DN5 it also includes a tuner. I know a lot of people may not use it, but if you do use a tuner with a DN5 like an ATS tuner it’ll be about the same price as a Chad, but you’ve now got 2 components instead of 1.
very valid point and I plan on doing some tuner testing in the future although not sure if I want to spend the $$$ to get enough shots to make it statistically valid though. THe 6mm Dasher shoots 1/2 minute almost any combo I put through it :)
Great comparison don! I switched to an ace from a helfire match. I love the ace due to it consistently tracks straight up and very little left or right. I hated getting headaches from the hellfire and how it wasn't consistent on where I could expect the reticle every shot.
Nice....just started my prs and prs22 journey this year.... got 3rd for the prs22 regional.... Running a tank brake from Hawkins. Very similar to the ace without the top ports... These are the main muzzle breaks im interested in .....as i wondered if the dn5 would be better then the hawkins..... Im shooting 6.5 cm so im definitely getting pushed on the props....
If you watch my first muzzle break showdown you can see the DN5 was the easy winner in regard to felt recoil and muzzle rise. You would have to get used to the blast though, it is considerably more than the ACE/Hawkins though.
Hey brother, where’d you find the Chad? I’ve been looking and can’t find them. Thanks again, You put me on the D5 now I see this without the muzzle blast, I’m hooked
well I ordered mine a long time ago back when it was still the TMB just the Morgun King Edition. Just look at Strike Without Warnings website and see if one pops up. I would highly recommend seeing one and shooting it first though. I will be at Twisted Barrel Scorcher if you plan on being there.
Great content! While I love going the brake route, I've gotten pretty comfortable using my tbac7 and tbac5 shooting 6gt. I'll be using a trigger cam for the Twisted Barrel Scorcher Match, so we'll see how bad my muzzle flip is. Hopefully, the video will be usable. Lol. Thx again for the videos.
This is interesting. I just ordered the ACE Brake, it will be waiting for me at the Worlds. Was really looking at the DN5 as well, but I really hate brakes with a passion and have pretty noise sensitive ears so I think its the right choice for me, would run a suppressor but cant bring one to the US.
the ACE is a fantastic brake and I know lots of people who use it successfully with top 10 finishes. It is about the best when it comes to no blast or concussion to the shooter, no doubt
@@DarthLepard yeah I know Buschman, Blackketter, Orgain and Harmon run it. After reading the precision rifle blog about Buschman it really sealed my choise on the Ace vs Dn5 since he complained about tinnitus after 2 day matches with other brakes and not the ace and I already have been suffering from tinnitus since 16 years old. One of the reasons I nearly refuse to shoot unsuppressed
It's run a suppressor or stay home as far as I'm concerned. But I've had so many concussions that shooting with a brake, or being around those who are causes me to suffer mentally. It's like I'm coming out of anesthesia after surgery the way it messes with me. Hate it.
makes sense, I know a lot of people who are very sensitive to the blast and prefer to un things like ACE or suppressors and are incredible shooters. I think you can get adapt to whatever system you are using, just takes training
I use the TriggerCam and it does take some getting used to. I used it for a few one day matches before taking it to a Pro match. I highly recommend, it continues to be one of the best training techniques I have used to date!!!
Thanks for the good review. Good to see people are enjoying the chad and its performance. Certainly had the least reticle movement out of all the other brakes. 🤙🤙🤙
Thanks BJ, I was pleasantly surprised by the reduce blast for sure. Shooting it at the Scorcher this weekend so I have high hopes. Let me know if you get any of those bags in stock, would love to do a little review on that as well.
How was the felt recoil of the Chad compared to the DN5? Was it similar to the tmb? I'm very impressed with the DN5 for the money, but i follow without warning closely and love what they are doing. I just don't know if i can justify an extra 300 over the DN5 for the Chad. The Chad does have an integrated tuner so i understand why it's priced higher.
I shoot a dasher so it’s hard to really rate felt recoil with something so low already. I like the recoil impulse of the Chad better because it doesn’t drive down the muzzle as hard.
I have no idea but I will weigh them when I get home this evening though, didn't even think to measure that. Off handed though the Chad seemed a lot heavier to me. Will update this evening
Great comparison! I'm running my Chad on my 25 creed and a tmb on my dasher. Might pick up a DN5 for the Dasher after this video. Side note... Were you in squad 19 for the PRS finale last year? You look familiar.
I would run the DN5 over the TMB any day. Better muzzle control and less blast. I was in squad 19, barely made the cut but I was happy since it was my first year of PRS.
Saw you at K&M. But thank you for the video. I just went from the MDT, to the ACE, then to the DN5. Do not enjoy the DN5. Will be refreshing to get the Chad.
I highly recommend shooting the Chad before just buying one. While it has considerable less blast than the TMB it is comparable to the DN5...and it is LOUD. Not saying it doesn't do what it advertised...it controls muzzle rise and has less blast than the TMB but if you are blast sensitive then please keep that in mind. As I said in the video....it is not ACE in that regard.
The DN5 is very effective for sure. I am shooting 6 Dasher. As with anything to get that level of performance there is a trade off for concussion, although I personally find the DN5 bearable even in a 2 day match.
@@DarthLepard Does CHAD have significantly less concussion compared to DN5? I just cant bear the headache caused by tmb anymore (im shooting 308 for tac division)
They’re titanium but yet heavy enough to balance out my MPA in 6GT what’s great is if you pull a shot you see how much the rifle reacts to not perfect placement and trigger pull
I just love you!! Classic music is life! I can work better, think better, and be grateful for life!
thank you?

I wish they made a little cheaper non tuner version

Thanks. I know several people who run the ACE and love it. The complete lack of blast and concussion is nice for sure!!!!

Check out bullet central or short action precision. They will be getting some very soon.
Preece Precision had some in stock
Our dealers will have them in stock really soon. Bullet central and short action precision are our biggest dealers.

@DarthLepard I kimd of figured since it is a 6 dasher. Not much recoil to begin with lol.
@DarthLepard great work again! What is the weight comparison of the Chad compared to the DN5 and ACE?
I have no idea but I will weigh them when I get home this evening though, didn't even think to measure that. Off handed though the Chad seemed a lot heavier to me. Will update this evening
I would imagine a lot of the effectiveness of the low recoil is due to the weight
Chad weighs 14.5 oz. So at least double what the others do.

My rugged radiant and Alaskan 360 the weight of my cans do a great job not having jump. RUGGED for the win.
Makes sense the more weight at the end of the barrel helps drive it back down.

Haha. It appears to be a good brake overall.
