- Do I recommend hair oiling for hair growth and scalp health?
in general the scalp microbiome which is basically the equilibrium that is your scalp with bacteria fungus and parasites is delicate if you end up putting a tremendous amount of oil on your head leaving it on overnight and just letting it sit some people actually put a cap on and let it sort of compress.
you can lead to some very dramatic problems you can have all sorts of flare UPS with Demodex and fungus specifically. so if you are going to hair oil there's only a handful of oils that I would recommend one would be castor 2 would be coconut oil extra virgin coconut oil and you can add other additives like Rosemary oil. there's a lot of good research about Rosemary oil when you add it to something topically roughly around 1% of what it is topically. and you can massage it in do this 2 to 3 times per week let it sit for maybe 30 to 45 minutes and then rinse it out. do not leave it on overnight because if you leave it on overnight and you do this chronically you will theoretically have problems.

Last one is a lie
There isn’t a one size fits all solution. Personally, the things you described have really helped me.
Yes with my half African hair, dry scalp🙋♂️, I find leaving coconut oil in and not rinsing makes dandruff not exist, soft hair too
Do we have to shampoo when rinsing out?
Thx❤
This could be good advice for Caucasians but black people’s scalp and hair thrives on oiling since we don’t produce as much scalp oils /sebum as our counterparts. Without oiling we dry out so bad and introduce a dandruff situation. So we need to moisturize and then oil… personally I spray a liquid moisturizer on my scalp and proceed with a scalp oil with natural & essential oils. I don’t get any issues. I only get issues with itchy dry scalp if I don’t do that. So I guess it all depends on what works for who. Otherwise am a big fan of your information. Keep it up👌🏾
In my personal opinion no, it doesn't work for every black person. I've tried all the oils he mentions plus others; it itches like crazy. Yes, I know my blood type [kinda have to since the military has it on your dog tags]. I find if I have a light hair oil spray (like black queen) is enough for me. During the summer it's easier for me to let my scalp breathe.
I know right why did he just annoy me .. we been greasing our scalp for 36358864 years with oils and a plastic bag on it under our bonnet. Always trying to school people on what they don’t know about…
I cannot use oils. They tend to be too viscous. There are some white people with course hair that can use oils. Caucasian people are specifically from the region of the Caucasuses Mountains. Caucasian is a word for that specific ethnic group.
It's advice for anyone with a scalp. Black people will do better when they actually listen to hair science instead of quacks in our community trying to make money.
Our women are so bald with age because all throughout their youth they have been doing the wrong things and it catches up with you.
Also oils go rancid and they degrade to what happens when you leave it on all week on your scalp?
I did an overnight castor oil with salicylic acid and actually had an elevated morning shower shed. Your videos just hit at the best times lol
@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist would be great to have you do a video about microneedling along or in conjunction with some of the other recent short videos you've done about oils.
That's explains why I have been losing my hair particularly on oiling day
Why not a 3rd oil option: Pumpkin Seed oil
Don't know why you left this out?? With some drops of Rosemary oil in it...
Can i apply coconut oil on scalp?
Now is this for Caucasian hair or black people hair because our hair scalp and hair thrive when we do leave it on unless you have a scalp condition which would worsen
I was thinking the same thing. This advice isn't for the children of Africa. Despite the opinions of some, we are not all the same.
This is scientifically not true. Cyn Smith, a Black cosmetologist, explains this on her YT channel.
Does it cause hair fall and if so is it curable?? Dr. please answer
Washed my hair with Head & Shoulders, then oiled my scalp. I woke up and my scalp is itching. What do I do??
Ive heard the exact opposite for Castor, Olive and Coconut oil because theyre saturated fats which feed the fungus that dry out your scalp🤔
Is rosemary oil good in fighting DHT?
Yeah
No but it helps with reducing inflammation and improving hair growth
This is interesting, yet somewhat confusing. I follow hair stylists who say coconut oil makes their clients hair and scalp significantly more oily, and weighs down the rest of their hair
So true
Your own products contains lots of oils, and you recommend to use it daily + plus letting it sit overnight. So which is it ?
We know use of castor oil has been linked to acute hair felting and coconut oil can lead to protein over load.
Both are not oils I would recommend.
Hey Doc, what about minoxidil? it said put it on twice a day, day & night, they said leave it on whole day and wash hair again apply at night and leave it on overnight. :(
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Hi Jeff! That should be fine for minoxidil. We're referring to oils like the ones mentioned this video.
n rinse it out with plain water or shampoo it Dr. after applying oil ?????
From William’s Assistant Trichologist MJ: Definitely wash it with shampoo.
Castor oil ruins hair
We’ve been doing this for 11007844 years. I do it at least 5 times a week and don’t wash it out… this is exactly why I stay away from ….., you don’t recommend it.. do you know how late to the party you are and wrong… coconut oil is terrible for your scalp by the way… take that coat off
